@benny888

would like to know how u rate sgt to ur dell streak.

thanks in advance.. wink.gif
*
I use the SGT as a tablet first ; till now never use the phone features. Performance wise and stability it is much better than the Dell Streak. If I give a score of 10 to SGT, the Dell Streak will score an 8. As I am on an unofficial Froyo rom on the Dell Strteak there are still some very minor bugs that happens once in a while - example ADW Launcher sometimes misaligned after reset but very minor issue - i just restart ADW from its menu. The SGT original rom is very stable and yet to see any bugs. ADW Launcher works exceptionally well without any issues. Battery life is excellent - 7 hours shouldn't be any problem.

I am now seriously considering selling off my Dell Streak and buy another small android phone as a spare phone and just for calls and the SMS only. I had never like to use bluetooth or wired headsets to make calls

I am only on my 3rd day using the SGT and I really love its portability - reminds me of my previous Dopod U1000

Launch spareparts, first time select compatibilty mode, then reboot. Spareparts again untick compatibilty mode and reset. You should have full screen then
can use any file explorer to edit and change the folders name.make sure navisea folder located in internal sd card not external microcard

Did a hard reset on my Tab just now just for the purpose to see how fast it reboot - not long ; took about 8 minutes to fully boot back
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S - hard reset will not erase/delete any contents of the internal SD card . This is very good feature , meaning all your supporting data/files/backups which are installed in the internal card remains intact.

Will later try to install a clockwork recovery or a modified kernel with CR so that I can do a nandroid backup. This will be very useful if you want to flash roms and if you don't like the new rom, you can restore everything ( all apps/data etc) exactly back to your last status

Anyone here had done any Clockwork recovery Mod - will appreciate some tips. Spend an hour reading through forum XDA on all the possible ways and user's failures/recommendations ; hope I can do a successful one try

Next step will be to flash a new firmware than only flash a new 3rd party rom

I just used odin and followed the instruction in the rotorom (did i spell his name right?lol) and everything went ok accept my product code is KOR now. But i don't mind since i only lose out on downloading certain apps in the samsung store.

I saw nprrussel in the Tab forum if he produce a villain rom would be great.

After you flash rotohammer rom, did you install a ClockworkMod Recovery ? If not, you can try Chainfire CF-Root which is compatible with rotohammer rom

were u ordering from brando website directly? wat type of post they used to deliver the product? by registered mail or just standard air mail? worry it might get lose sad.gif

Order directly from their website. It is sent by airmail - so far I have no issues on receiving it. Intact I also buy a lot of stuffs from EBay for the past 5-6 years too - never encountered any lost in transit. I have purchase small items ( stylus, batteries ) to bigger ticket items PDA, smartphones and even a 15" notebook . Most of the purchases I received between 7 to 10 days. If you wish to purchase stuffs online and worry about this , it is best you do not do it. Anyway if the seller is reputable , he will replace any lost in transit item to you. Check his ratings before you buy. If buying from established online like Brando, PDAair, Expansys, Amazon no need to worry at all

Celcom.Axiata : Allow my 2 sen opinion . I am a ipad user ( 64GB 3G ) for 8 months since May2010. Frankly I still feel until today iPad is overhype. I am , you can say quite a Apple fan. I have following Apple products which I bought for myself and family : Still with me - iMac, 2 MacBook Pro, 1 MacBook Air, 1 White MacBook, 2 iPhones 3Gs and lastly iPad ( which I just sold off as none of my children wants it).

Being a gadget freak, and an expensive hobby of mine I always like to try new gadgets. I will go to all lengths paying a high premium just to test it and I have no qualms selling it off later at a big loss if I don't like it. It is an expensive hobby which I must say is within my budget. Allow me just to say those who buy the TABs definitely have a purpose and they feel the TAB meet their needs.

My NEEDS for a tablet is just that it should be versatile enough and allows me to customize and offers great portability. I have replace the iPAD with the latest MBA 11" as I find it meets all my computing needs out of home while the iPad only fulfill 50% of it. The iPad do nbot meet my portability and work creation needs. However I find the TAB does. This does not mean the iPAD is not good just it did not fulfill my needs

The keypoint here is NEEDS not WANTS. I would like to buy the latest Mercedes S Class or BMW 730i - that is my want. But do I really need it as my average mileage is only max 5 km/day and a monthly KL or Spore trip. YES I will if it is my need to show off my prestige and wealth or I just just have too much money, don't know how/where to spend it. For a car my NEED is simple - just a means of reliable, economical transport. So even I can afford it, to me a 1.6 to 2.0 litre car is sufficient and GOOD for my needs

Your comment about the user and your conclusion is strange. Firstly the TAB is a tablet ; its additional phone functions is a bonus as I always say. Most guys who buy the TAB will use it primary as a tablet. How one wishes to use it as as aphone is his choice. If he wants to hold it highup to his ear or allow the speakerphone to blare is entirely his choice. To be discreet he can use a bluetooth headset or wired headset.

I never try as my TAB still only few days old and I have reflash it to a different Europe firmware. . But a user here AdamKing has said he updated his rooted TAB through KIES successfully. After which, he has to root it again as the update removes the root

i saw Tab now drop price..RM2020 for AP..advisable to go for it? or wait for Tab 2 announcement? hmm.gif
*
That is a good price as the usual retail for AP sets is RM 2200 to RM2300. PLease post the link of such a good deal - we could help you to verify its reliability. Buying AP sets - the importer source is very important in case of warranty issues. Some are brought in through a established local company ( which is a better choice) while some are just grey imports , example brought in by seller who went overseas. If the latter - then is not advisable as any warranty claims you will have a tough hurdle ahead

Make sure is not US based sets as it cannot be use to make calls

I would like to ask about. SGT battery life let's say compare to iPad , I am thinking to get another android tablet but my main concern is the battery life itself. I am very satisfied with iPad battery life I can say. With heavy usage for gaming and browsing I can get around 9 hours straight till 10% , how about SGT ?
*
The Samsung's official reported is 7 hours continuous video usage. I don't see hitting it will be a problem. Based on my usage - browser, email, RSS, Tweeter, etc plus some youtubes watching it will exceed 7 hours

How does SGT loudspeaker , isit good ? clear and loud ?
*
It is very clear ; loud ??? up to one to judge and also dependent on the environment you are in. Go to the shop and assess it yourself whether the loudness is too loud or too soft - different people have different perception of the decibels

@benny888 so you are saying the battery usage for SGT and iPad are on the same level right? Thats pretty good if 7 hours batt life for heavy usage. My iPad has been serving me well though it has some limitation.

Added on January 21, 2011, 10:43 pm

I own a nexus one running cyanogen rom with tons of widget running constantly , even with 3G turned off the battery life was horrible. The juice merely last me 4 hours with heavy usage. Even standby mode the battery drops at 3% rate per hours. Thats my only android experience but I see SGT is doing good in this aspect. I am thinking to get another tablet which can do more than iPad and SGT is one of my choice currently. The nexus one bringing a nightmare to me for android as I am kind of road warrior and not often has access to charging source. I don't really believe what Samsung claim whatsoever, I prefer some end user experience.
May I ask how you define your " heavy " ?

I doing a lot of multitasking , if running on android of course I will be sticking all my screen with widget ( hourly update ) like weather, news, twitter, fb, rss etc. I will be using it ALOT for browsing like 4 hours, watching flash video, IM like MSN and WhatsApp running. With also some gaming session let's say 2 hours.

Actually I prefer Android over iOS but what attract me to iPad is the battery life actually.  hmm.gif
Your input are much appreciated biggrin.gif

Cannot compare with smartphones whose battery is about 1300 to 1500maH. The Tab is at 4000mah. Even though its screen estate is double that of most phones, its battery strength is more than double, close to three times. . If you just google you will read most web reviews gives very good comments on the Tab battery's life. Engadget example put it through a continuos video test at 65 % brightness with WiFi on recorded more than 6 hours . I have tested and noted that if you are not using it the screen display brightness tone it right done. I noticed by so doing my battery usage has improved by 20 to 30% from 11 pm to 7 am ( when I am not using it ). However background downloads are on. My typical settings for a whole 24 hour day:

4 email accounts : refresh/download every 15 minutes
Weather : refresh every 4 hours
News feed, Tweeter : Every 30 mins
Phone calls - about 10/day and SMS about 20. No MMS
Youtubes : Download and view - ranges 30 mins to an hour
Music : NONE
Browsing : About 2 hours/day ( mostly on 3 G ) as the places I go to usually no WiFi unlike KL ( mine small town). When at home, I use WiFi but seldom use it as I will use notebook/desktop

With these at 7 am 100% charged , by 7 pm I still have about 10 to 20 % charge left. So I estimate if I use continously will exceed 7 hours before it dry up

anyone try to install papago M5 in SGT? It's always popup and say "unable support resolution: 480x720". Anyone know to to fix this?
*
Are you referring to X5 ?? . .

You have to manually rename all 480X720 folders to 600x1024. Connect your Tab to computer. Search for all folders with name " 480x720" - then rename each of it. There should be a few of such folders. Or you can edit the folder names using any file explorer example Astro File Manager

After that, locate SPARE PARTS in TAB menu ( if you don't have this, download it ; it is a free app from Market ) and enable full screen compatibility. Launch Spareparts - untick and tick compatibity mode - RESET. Launch spare parts again - untick compatibilty mode. RESET. You should have full screen
However you will find the menu floating slightly up from the bottom :

Spare parts setting , the last is unselect mode. So should not affect movies. As for apps , NOT all apps can utilise this tweak ; so far all my apps are full screen . I understand certain games apps ( those very old ones ) are usually affected and if incompatible will only display in half screen mode. Not aware of any apps that will not work

Actually I find Sygic AURA is a better navigation alternative for the TAB. It works on both landscape and portrait mode. The GPS lockup is immediate unlike Papago X5 takes about 5 to 10 secs, sometimes more. You will notice because the screen is forced to display full screen, Papgo X% resolution is very much poorer. AURA graphics and resolution is fantastic. Papago X5 is also very much less user friendly in searching of addresses/POI. The main disadvantage of Sygic Aura is their maps are not so frequently updated unlike X5 which can use Malfree Maps ( updated monthly)

I bought AURA last month when it was on limited 2 week offer for Euro30 , now is back to Euro39.99
I bought Papago X5 for RM 99 at PC Fair last year , now is retailing at RM 146

Some shots of AURA on the TAB:
