you usually for predator fish, if ure away for weeks, how do you keep them well fed if they eat only live food?
my oscar wont eat pellets, even after i have starved him more than 5 days. if i give him feeder fish and shrimps, usually they will last 3-4 days max. buying too much will end up them piling dead and make the water parameter much more worse. please advise. |

currently using cannister filter and HOB filter for my oscar setup
cannister filter is like the normal ones - bio-rings, activated carbon pads, filter wools Hob filter, the stuffs inside i change to my own liking- a few lava rocks(substitute for my bio-rings), filter wools and seachem purigen to make the water extra clear. also using floating filtering plants like water lettuce, duckweed and egeria densa since they will suck the access nutrients from the decomposing dead feeder fish like ammonia and nitrate which help to combat algae too lazy to clean my tank |

QUOTE(aimank_88 @ Jun 7 2012, 06:20 PM) Seems u two using bio rings? Whatre those? bio rings are ceramic rings, their purpose are the same as lava rocks, K1 filter media and also bacteria sponge/sponge filter which are used to house and promote the growth of beneficial bacta. And lava rocks? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

i dont like activated carbon, they make those ph rises or sumthing and released back those harmful chemicals they sucked, ended up my feeder fishes with permanent irritated gills and mouth, then they died.

what can you suggest for a scavenger for my oscar tank plz? since i dont want any those dead bodies/meat chunks rotting by themselves.
buying a whole load of glass shrimps every 4 days which i ended 1 hour in a traffic jam is a tiring routine. any suggestions and advice? fish only a bit bigger than my palm now. |

im still new to thise thread, and i got a question, maybe a common one for a newbie.
since you guys/girls fishes are a bit monstrous for me, im wondering, how do you clean your tank? how often? do you remove your fishes or just do it partial water change? and how often you clean your filter? |
