Marimo will absorbe the carbon dioxide (CO2) and photon from light source in order to perform photosynthesis for their food production and produce oxygen as the waste of the process. This is basically same as a typical plant. Taking care your marimo with lots of love will boost the growth of it! What light source do I need to provide to the marimo? Any artificial light sources are sufficent for it to perform photosynthesis. Please be on mind that you should not let the marimo exposed under direct sun light as this will kill your marimo Can I use pipe water to rear the marimo? Marimo is under species of cladophora aegagropila moss ball, therefore, you can use direct pipe water to rear them. You may change the water 2 weeks once or longest 4 weeks once. Lower the temperature of the water will boost the growth of marimo. Typically maximum sustainable temperature Marimo can stand is abouth 35 degree celcius What should I do when changing water? Gently massage the marimo and squeeze out the dirt water inside marimo. Rub the marimo into round shape and put back to the fresh water. Do I need to feed Marimo? Yes! Please feed your marimo with your love Can I keep my fish with Marimo? Of course Yes! Please be on mind you should feed your fish as usual in order to avoid your marimo become the "Buffet" of your fishes. Why my marimo changed color? The mixture elements and also bacterias in the water will trap on the surface of marimo. Take out your marimo and gently wash them under running water to clean the dirt. If your marimo turns to Blackish/Brownish color, I am sorry to say that your marimo already "tata". Please give more love & care to them to avoid this happen How long the Marimo can last for without water as seller courier it to me without water? Will it die during the shipment? With proper handling of packaging the marimo can last for 4 weeks in the package How large the marimo can grow? Marimo never stop growing any second. However the growing rate is very slow, it is about 5mm per year, during the growing process, there are several small flur growing out around the marimo. Kindly massage and rub the marimo to a neat round form when you are performing water change. Why my Marimo floating/Sinking, is this normal? Yes, this is a very normal situation. Most of the time, your marimo will sink under the water. However, if sufficient light sources provided and the marimo will perform photosynthesis, the large amount of oxygen bubbles inside the marimo will assist it to float up. Another situation is that your marimo performing photosynthesis with a lot of bubbles surrouding it but still sink at the bottom, this is due to the insufficient of bubbles to bring up the heavy marimo. Will marimo reproduce? Can I split it half in order to reproduce them? NO! Dont kill your marimo! You are not recommended to split them half for the propose of reproducing. There is no guarantee of the survival of the marimo. However, if it is naturally split into half, take out the marimo and rub them back to round shape. Marimo reproducing themself naturally through division. Sometime, you will see a lump growing in your marimo, yes! This is the baby marimo How can I boost the growth of marimo? Coral stone or Crystal Stone will asssit growth of marimo as these stones will purify the water My room temperature is very high, does it affect my marimo? Marimo can sustain within temperature 12 to 35 degree celcius, in the case your room temperature is very high, you can put some ice cube to drop down the temperature of water or put your marimo together with the bottle filled with water into fridge for 24-48 hours. You can repeat this procedure once a month to boost the growth of marimo. My marimo get sick, what can I do? Yes, marimo will get sick like human, you will able to see some dirt stick on your marimo (something like whitenish/yellownish color net) if your marimo is getting sick. No worry, take your your marimo and gently wash and rub it. Add a little small amount of salt (5% of your water volume) will do. This will recover your marimo from sick. Can I full sealed/cover my marimo inside bottle? Yes, you can, this is a good practice if you are putting your marimo inside bottle without any other living creature (fishes, etc) in order to avoid water pollution and mosquito issue. However, you are recommend to perform rapid water change to provide marimo fresh water. What is their average lifespan?
