ow i see..
changing whole unit costs more..  cry.gif
drool-ing with 480 SLI as well..
but no bullet..
*
the card itself maybe around 2.5k, cheapest. 2.5kx2 = 5k. with modified power brick (if that even possible) 1k? 6k in total already. yet, risk of incompatibility, poor heat management, throttling issues, no warranty support, its not worth it at all.

the way i see it. sell our laptop for 6k, topup by ourself few k more. then you can safely sleep at night without worrying about the warranty status.

Grease if diff story. he is not human lol. look at his #1 weapon used already know he is alien. (how the heck you kill most using combat knife?! shocking.gif )

grease really diff story..  notworthy.gif
*
hmm yeah. but we will see. HD5870 CF only been released @ 8.5k only compared to mine, GTX280M SLi @ 10k+.

hopefully the price is keep decreasing in future. finger crossed wub.gif

ATI is much more cheaper than Nvidia mah..
thats why..
haha

luckily my 280SLI costs me less coz of the promotion.. lol
but did 5870 CF perform better than us (280 SLI)
*
oh yea... i forgot about that sweat.gif

HD5870 CF only slightly 1/4 better performance than us. but GTX280M is like 3/4 have better driver support and compatibility than that beast.

not really care about Dx11. i only care about Dx11 when stepping into GTX400 Series brows.gif

me too, me too. well, heard that GTX480M SLI, is like the desktop GTX480(review by other)
*
its basically GTX465 Desktop variant with lower clock, each.

so GTX465 SLi is equivalent to GTX480 Desktop variant lol.

/but note that single GPU is more optimized that Dual GPU configuration.

Guys do you know whether Dell will cover replacing the rubber grip stuff at the bottom panel of your Alienware if sudah hilang?

that one is under "Wear & Tear" so Dell will not cover for that.

would love to share my personal though with my fellow Alienware owner too, taken from Sager's thread.

QUOTE
before this, i am seriously considering to leave Alienware and move on to Sager due to GTX480M SLi's poison. but after going through the review, i think i will love Alienware moar.

Review @ http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Devilt...ok.37414.0.html

Desktop variant CPU - 980X: work perfectly. its quite overkill to be honest. and cause autoshutdown during full stress.

Nvidia GTX480M SLi (2GB DDR5 + 2GB DDR5) : tessellation monster. emitting heat and sound like a monster too. even its been described as "Very high system noise", means that it does loudy. crash during full stress too, due to insufficient power supply.

5 speakers + Subwoofer (5.1) : very bad quality produced. subwoofer effect is very minimal. reviewer describe "doesn't even come close to the sound qualities of Toshiba's Qosmio X500, Asus' G73 or Alienware's M17x."

3 Slots of HDD (Raid-5 capable): future proof. nothing bad about this, except ripping your pocket more.

Keyboard : describes as very good in term of quality and wideness. but not backlited - major disadvantage for me.

other obvious and predicted fact
: bigass adapter, battery life duration, weight (roughly same compared to M17x), price and thickness.

so my personal conclusion;
if it keep crashing during full load, why on earth i buy it? means that i should lower down the setting and games quality so that the stress will be lower - to prevent from autoshutdown. i might go for ATi HD5870 CrossFire or GTX285M SLi (heck, even my GTX280M SLi is still competitive) compared with i buy GTX480M SLi but need to lower it down.

so no wonder why Alienware still don't release their M17x with GTX480M SLi update. maybe they are somehow working to solve those problem. for me, i would allow another one more year to see what Nvidia able to do about this before spending my dime.

just sharing my thought here tho, smile.gif

not just the spec is overkilling... even the price too...
*
the price is quite cheap, if you follow the pricing pattern of high end system.

Alienware might quoted almost 15k for 11k Sager's specs.
