stereo or mono is objective. As long as u can hear the sound when somebody call u or sms u. that's enough for me.
*
Nope, mono is rubbish. Why want mono?
In my office, I heard ringtones that is loud but sounded crap, it was the iPhone with mono speakers. I was surprised, honestly... why are there still smartphone with mono speakers... I remember the old days when Nokia smartphones (7650, 3650, 6600) all have mono speakers, and it's crap, we even talk about upgrading the speaker and stuffs. People condem Nokia for the poor quality sound and many switch over to SE.

Now MONO is back HOT again? Oh no... icon_question.gif YAMATE...

Nokia is not really back...I think now Nokia should take a step back n just make midrange to high midrange phones with the current releases
*
I am agree....

all this while this is what I am understand from Nokia....

N8 are suppose to be only a mid range phone....

even Nokia them self said so....

donno wat the hell they price it skyhigh and ppl are thinking it is a top end phone....

until now.. I am not impress with it and I would still say it is only a mid range phone... it is good in it's range ...

I think u need to learn what is actually mean by Mono and Stereo in Audio world first... ur statement up there show u don't really understand what are really the different between mono and stereo....

let me give u a question to think... ur HIFI speaker... say 1 speaker sound ur ringtone , and compare to ur "stereo" phone speaker ring ur ringtone.. which one will sound better?

mono means no difference between left n right, most of the time they combine both channels... stereo output means hv difference but the distance makes out to no difference if on a phone

Correct me if I'm wrong.
My understanding of mono is single speaker only producing one channel.
Stereo will have both LEFT and RIGHT channel. As when we watch olden days VCD, we switch different launguage through LEFT channel or RIGHT channel.

Like iPhone, they only have mono quality sound, no stereo, which is also similar like 7650, 3650, 6600, etc.

Edit:
If it's software controlled, then it can be fixed, but if there's only 1 speaker, then you won't be able to produce stereo.
Just like buying studio monitors, they usually sell per piece; If you get 1 piece, you will not be able to get stereo quality.

Mono will produce crap quality to me (e.g. playing ringtone with mono only speaker, e.g. iPhone)
So, to me, no to mono.

what u say is correct.... but ur understanding are only up to there...

let me explaint to u why ....

first of all, U have to understand 1 speaker not MUST produce sound worse than 2 speaker.. like the example I give you..

2nd.. for phone.. even u have 2 speakers.. u can hardly tell which sound come from which speaker to ur ear... our ear reconize sound from which direction by calculation on our brain.. the different of sound deliver to our left earn and right ear... because the stereo speaker on phone are ultra close.. We do not know which and which channel from which speakers..

3rd... Sound.. traval by about 300m/s.... and sound have wavelenght.... human ear can listen something like 80Hz to 18kHz..... ur left speaker and ur right speaker on the phone distance are .. say max 10cm apart..... in order for our ear to know the different.. the wave lenght of the sound MUST be less than 10cm then only we MIGHT possible to tell the different....

Speed = 300m/s
wavelength = 10cm or 0.1m
the frequency u Might/start can tell the different is 300m/s divide by 0.1m which u get 3000Hz.. which is 3kHz and above sound u might able to tell the different... any freq below that.. we can differential sh1t.... that is also why the reason we always use only 1 subwoofer... the wavelenght of those frequency are few Meter.. we know sh1t about where the sound from...

4th... compliment to the 2nd point.. u have to place the phone as close to ur ear as possible to make the different of distance travel to ur 2 ear to be high... mean distant A -distant B = higher the value.... then u can tell the different more obvious....

sum up all the point above.... if a phone with mono speaker. .. and this mono speaker can produce good sound.. it mix up ur source 2 channels together and output to this speaker... we can tell sh1t the different of a stereo speaker phone...

u talking about studio monitor speaker.. I can talk 1 day 1 night with u.... and u also can see why they put the left and right speaker far apart to get actual Stereo effect...

EOF.. thank you....
