*yawn* first for the morning! YAY!

wah gcooi sounds like your concentration level is very high and good maintenance, keep up the good work....one day hopefully you can layan unkle and play some points....

vobs....currently I am not so sure of my racket count....some I buy and keep because I use to play with them, but now grown up, not ngam lol, others I buy and keep for collection....others I just buy to play with for stroke.

I just got a racket its NOT new, and its NOT a new model racket, this racket was released in the 80's I think, its very flexible lol, I tried it yesterday for a doubles match , I could only punch forehands, and slice/lob backhands, could not top spin, serves and volleys were 'effortless'.......I just cut the strings and will string with a poly at 42 lbs, hopefully I can get some pics up later.

whoa!~
i don't think im gonna add any weapon to my collection any time soon. considering buying strings and restring, it'll take up portion of my allowance to maintain the rackets lol.

hehe. back to basics! is what i wanna remind myself... sometimes i play so well n i brought everything to next game and kena sapu, then kena sapu again; all because of my stubbornness for not going back to basic and re-adapt to diff opponents...
*
Well its good to hear that you have pretty solid basics, if they get you through tough times, more power to you!
Regarding gears, buy what you can afford, without going to the extreme, if you play well enough with a certain racket stick with it, naturally you can experiment with strings and lead tape, use what works well for your OWN game, don't just copy blindly and sabotage your 'game'.

QUOTE(vobs @ Oct 6 2010, 08:55 AM)
enough said, that means u got many many racquet hehe. i got 2, selling 1, so left one.......never like two racquet that do not have the same spec......even bought the same model also abit different feel, so i rather end with 1 only, no need think so much.
*
No lah I am a cheap skate! whistling.gif I buy cheap and keep, very seldom if ever I sell, you will note you have not seen me peddling any of my gears lol. If not ngam me now, MAY ngam me in 3-8 years, just keep .....who knows...lol.
Luckily no one complain of my gears.....if that day come's I think I will flood lowyat with 'WTS' lol.
I usually try and buy identical rackets if buying at store, I bring my small portable scale and a balance board.
But usually can customise 2 sticks within 1-3 grams difference....

QUOTE(tiangkim @ Oct 6 2010, 09:37 AM)
bro prae, yesterday played blx first then drizzle came. switched back to k-factor cox old string.  still k-factor feel more lively....

no wonder wilson is losing their edge nowadays especially to babolat.....
*
I feel the same way now about K-factor lol. However alot of people have said they noticed when using BLX series mostly 6.1 tour, with slightly lower tension and the racket they notice they don't have any 'arm' issue's. That to me is important, I don't have arm issue's now, but who can tell the future....so I am keeping my BLX6.1 on the wall.....

Regarding Babolat I have no real experience with their rackets, so I really cannot give any accurate information , what I do know their previous generations were arm breakers, ALOT of people bought them for their so called 'power' boost, it came at a price....tennis elbow. For me that is a deal breaker.

However I have heard alot of positive reviews for their new series especially the Pure Storm GT series......I am thinking about getting 1 to try and see for myself, but I think I will look for it 2nd hand or 3rd hand lol :-p
I have heard the control is very good, I like 'control' rackets with no power as I rather use my technique and 'stomach' for power hahahaha.

@k3vin82 yhaaa I read that review as well, surprsingly someone on tfn, Bernard already selling the string, was thinking may be someone here got it as well, I don't mind try a set to see, but I doubt I will like it as I read that the protective film/coat peels off after a few hours of hitting...depends on what type of player you are, and how hard you hit as well, also the strings move alot..... :-/

@vobs my new test weapon is 41 RDC LOL it is that flexible, reminds me of playing with wooden rackets.

Guys i have a question here. When we want to string our racket at a shop, do we need to choose 1 pack of string or 2 packs of string? tq.
*
If you want to use same string one pack SHOULD suffice, since it will be a 1 piece string job and you should not encounter any stringing anomaly, however if you want to hybrid, then you choose 2 different strings with different characteristics example, a poly string either in a main or cross, and the other another string can be synthetic gut as a cross (mostly), then the stringer measure's according and strings the racket using a 2 piece job, however sometimes, they use more string because they need to pull tension hence causing you to lose potentially another string job for a racket, sometimes not stringer's fault as sometimes say example Luxilon only give 38-39 feet of string when should be around 40-42 feet.

:-o I think you are mistaken, I am not resident tennis-warehouse bulk master sifu lol, that privilege belongs to bro kevin <3!

My advice for you now, if you can buy a pack of tourna grip to try, see if you like it, it is very good at absorbing sweat , but it loses its tackiness quite fast and crumbles or peels very fast as well, if you have already tried it and satisfied with it, good!

Bwhahaha but my job is to kipas you kau kau, see if lelucky has yonex supergrab, buy a pack and see which one you prefer, if someone here has Gamma Supreme Overgrip, try that as well, I only use these 2 grips.....naturally you may have a different opinion :-p

Also please take care when playing in the rain yhaaa, safety first <3

*
KNNNNNN gcooi you like very happy unkle break string!!!! and buka wallet!!!! :-p
What to do .........
No lah string tension is your own experience, I just share with you, if ngam, I am happy, if not ngam I 'sorri' loh! :-p
QUOTE(sembilan @ Oct 10 2010, 08:39 PM)
Thanks tiangkim and redcaffeine. I asked because I saw one in my hometown and might be able to get then for cheap. I'm using the k6.1 now but my elbow can't take it although it does provide a lot of feel.

Hope to join you all to play one day.
*
I don't wanna sound as a downer please check for authenticity......better be safe than sorry, if you got a good deal and if its authentic, excellent!

If you are experiencing elbow issue racket stiffness between the K6.1 tour which you have and you're thinking about getting similar to it by trying the N6.1 tour ( I am assuming you guys are talking about Ncode 6.1 tour) is marginally Wilson K6.1 tour RDC is 67 where as the Ncode 6.1 tour is 66 , infact more people have complained about elbow issues with the n6.1 tour than k6.1 tour, what I recommend is lowering your string tension by a few lbs, though its gonna be trial and error, may I ask what string are you using and at what tension.

WAH got nice tournament coming up, wish you guys the best!
I have advice for all of you, PLAY the BALL, DO NOT PLAY THE PLAYER!
Take 1 point at a time, never try and see ahead of the match.Yes Winning UGLY counts.....a win is a win, not everyone can move and hit like Federer.

VAMOS!

@tiang kim
Either foreigner or top seed, lets give them a tough fight ya! hehe
*
Thats a very positive attitude, if you play as well as you can play, I am pretty sure you can win the match. Some people look at the draw and then if they see they have to play the top seed, they pretty much give up, before even hitting the ball. Play the ball not the player, remember win or lose, have fun, have no regrets on the court, if you think of trying something new, go ahead! thumbup.gif

Just tried my Aerogel 4D 200 today. Overall I can see big improvement in my serve. My serve accelerate faster now and I would assume is the follow thru from the heavier racquet compared with my previous light racquet. In terms of control, it does provide better control and I can place my ball better now. And also, there is more solid feel to my game and I'm loving it. However, sometimes I tend to overhit it. Is it due to the racquet being strung at 48lbs? It seems fine when I used my frens Aerogel 4D 200 which is strung at 55lbs. Stroke wise has also improved. Perhaps the weight from the racquet helps me with my swing. I can see more consistent stroke. One more question. I have trouble taking high bouncing ball. Most ppl told me to take it on the rise but till today I can't seem to get it right. Normally I would just brush the ball down but seems wrong to me. Sifus pls comment. Kipas kipas!
*
notworthy.gif Young grasshopper.......your new weapon of mass destruction will send shivers down the spines of your opponents....
Regarding string tension its a personal preference, already you know that at 48lbs it feels like you are overhitting, if you have already tried the same racket at 55lbs and IF you like it, by all means string at 55lbs, however please note that yan's racket the strings may be a different type from your friends ,so you may not be able to replicate the same feel. But its worth experimenting!

High bouncing ball if you are not a advance level, I would not try taking it on the rise, I would rather step away from the ball, let the ball drop to your strike zone and then hit, this gives you more confidence on your shot and your percentage of getting the ball back and in play is higher than taking the ball on the rise, once, you feel your forehand/backhand is good enough, then I would recommend you practice taking the ball on the rise.
