Yes it can. My defy just got scratched. The scratches are quite substantial, can feel a bit of the depth with the finger nail.

So defy is not scratch proof, just scratch resistant.

Check this out if you want to know what I mean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821129

Stratos,

I also did try it with the keys, no problem, I even stab it with a pen no problem.

But today when I remove the battery from the phone and the phone was face down on my table. Apparently some small dust speck, a bit like one or two sand like speck was on the table. While removing the battery I heard some scratching sound and to my surprise the screen was scratched !

Try some sand, or ceramic stuff, maybe it will scratch, since all of us only use metal to try the screen out.

Yep.

I was wrong to think it was indestructible.

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Dec 22 2010, 04:23 PM)
use key of course no problem, it will scratch if u have dirt or small bit of sand trapped between the screen and something that can press the particle deep into the screen protective layer...

Added on December 22, 2010, 4:26 pmMight try to polish the scratch out ...

If you have the website I sent you, I won't be going so extreme as I can actually live with the scratches, mine is a lot more minor than his, I will just try some minor stuff to see if it works, if it does not I will live with it.

BTW check to see whether the solution I just posted works or not.

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Dec 22 2010, 05:20 PM)
be careful or u might end up with more scratches... or better yet, just leave it as it is smile.gif

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Dec 22 2010, 05:37 PM)
yeah i read that too, but currently there is no update for uk set yet. it says my system is up to date.

Is it because you can't wait or they failed to send it to you?

I did that while I was in UK, took a bus all the way to their cargo to pick up a camera lens.

This time around I ask them to send to my office. They are better when sending to office, if to house or apartment most courier will fail or are lazy to deliver.

Yeah, both quite good. My only problem is that their suggested route is a bit odd once in a while.

I think he meant the new version of google maps with the offline cache of maps.

I myself also can't update the the newer version through the market.

Sanosizo,

Are you referring to the Central Europe sbf?

Someone in XDA forum actually said that some of the Blur stuff is still there somehow, but less so compare to our UK sbf.

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Dec 27 2010, 02:30 PM)
u guys bought malaysia set without motoblur is it?

btw, defy can now use clockwork recovery and nandroid backup. we now have motoblur and non-motoblur service flash so if u like or dont like motoblur u can change anytime u like by flashing those sbf.

When I have time I will learn how to root and flash the sbf.

How much better is it with launcher pro installed?

Hi Sanosizo,

Does your screen have any dead pixel?

Mine has one near the middle and it is quite obvious on white or lighter background.

I wonder can claim warranty or not.

The phone is great, it is a shame it is plagued by the earpiece issue. I think Defy bought next year(if you can be sure it was manufactured during January) should be safe.

If you buy now the chance of getting the earpiece problem is high if you bought it elsewhere (UK or Europe), not sure about the Malaysia or Asia version though.

Mine is two weeks old and I fear the earpiece problem will happen to my Defy, I hope Motorola Malaysia will soon be able to fix the Defy here.

QUOTE(tyenfei @ Dec 28 2010, 03:20 PM)
there is one time my phone speaker out of sound .. even i adjust the volume to max. this happened on day 3 i got it.

but then i notice this happened after i use the kill task a few times continuese, so i restart my phone and it become normal until today ( day 5 )

for my case, i didn't set any auto kill task during phone start up. i suspect the kill task action might cause some software issue.

just for information sharing smile.gif

now.. really happy with my phone. with RM player, map navigator, documents viewer, live wallpaper, name card scanner ... still looking more good stuff for it wink.gif

Still too early to tell but I think the asia region's Defy should be fine.

QUOTE(psychict @ Dec 29 2010, 11:02 AM)

Seems like just low quality earpiece instead of broken earpiece, but a bad news nonetheless.

Hi Sanosizo,

Mine is close to a month, I am not sure when this thing is going to die on me.

BTW, it is January already, can they fix your phone now?
