soli i am new here.......
chart so defy performance  better than other?
*
synthetic benchmark cant really indicates how good the device handles day-to-day operations. because it calculates mainly based on hardware and driver instructions.. while in fact, both hardware optimizations and software implementation are crucial in daily usage.

but at least we know how good Defy hardware is smile.gif

erm.. i mean the camera flash light.
btw, i tested quadrant advanced for the benchmarking. it seem like moto devices have higher I/O score, the rest not so high.
do you guys mind to try with quadrant advanced instead of standard? tq
*
U have advanced version to share with me? Need to buy rite?

hi guys, i want to take the jump from currently using i phone to android, Motorola Defy, however i am reading a lot of feedback on the android marketplace, and also motoblur.

Any defy owners can advice on the motoblur account, any idea on the os upgrade to 2.2 and also on the marketplace availability to Malaysia?

thanks for the advice.
*
Malaysia's Defy comes with motoblur, or blurless coz it has blur widgets, but u dun have to sign in to motoblur account..

offical OS upgrade is scheduled in q2 2011. for custom, there's a CN froyo that is so far runs smoothly (except cemera flash).

market availability? same as other android phone in malaysia.. not as good as app store in terms of number and feature. as android has lesser apps and officially malaysia android market still cant show paid apps (unless u r root though)

yups.. in quadrant, the I/O score is calculated from four tests which are file system writes, file system reads, database writes, and database reads.

the improvement isn't that significant. as other android devices as well, 2.2 just brings full flash 10.1, wireless hot spot (which defy already has in 2.1), JIT and other minor things.
in my case, i feel the homescreen and interface scrolling is much faster. and if any of you notice, defy has to be restarted once you apply other launcher as default or else it tends to get laggy a bit (maybe it takes stimes)
but that is not happening with this froyo version..

so far, only camera flash doesnt work.

irenic, may i know just in case if need send the phone back for waranty, anyway to flash back to the stock rom after install a custom rom in it??
*
normally, software and hardware warranty is different. so in case the hardware goes faulty, it doesnt matter what software u put it in..

but in case it's a software problem, there might be some trouble here. i dunno, but for other phones, we can flash the original ruu from the recovery but so far we can't find on the internet the one that is been used in our device. i have other defy lying around and in case of emergency, there must be a way to create sbf file out from it.

nandroid backup might not possible because our custom recovery can only be access from application. meaning we hv to be able to boot the phone to open the app.

however, we didnt do much wrong here. the rom we install is a signed one, not a custom rom, as motorola locked its bootloader.
so hopefully they wont mind though wink.gif

my bad. sorry for my typo. it is actually signal / coverage issue. jboogie didnt color the theme that when it has full coverage with H, the color is grey out instead of green.. many people mistaken it with coverage / signal drop..

I just flash my defy to t-mobile froyo and everything is working now..

i dont care about motoblur since i'll be using launcherpro / gingerbread launcher..

but the good thing is camera, flash, locale, everything works fine. i guess our local Defy suits better with US setting compared to china..

*
yups i did nandroid backup of that rom using custom recovery. (wipe, restore, wipe)

then flash t-mobile boot only.sbf using rsd lite..

first after boot will ask for motoblur.. i power off, power on again.. then skip the registration tongue.gif

*
nope.. i use the nandroid backup.. the rsdlite just need to be used for t-mobile boot only .sbf

dont use the tmobile 3.4.2.sbf one.. bcoz ur defy will be locked to that firmware maybe until later upgrade by tmobile tongue.gif

he might be using broken english, but believe me, the reason u couldnt understand the instruction is not because of the english he used.. smile.gif

2、flash the defy_2.21_boot_only.sbf via rsd then reboot in to system.

do u know what is RSD used for? and what is .sbf?

- install rsd lite in your pc
- switch off your defy.
- boot into flashing mode (vol up + power on)
- release the button after few second, and connect your usb and u will see some white text on your defy
- open rsd lite, browse to the boot only.sbf, and click start.
- wait until your defy reboot.
