Guys, I just realize when I shake my defy I can hear the battery moving sound. It's sound like some part is lose, but actually is not. If I take of the battery the sound gone.

Is this norm? As my impression on defy should be very tough and strong phone sad.gif
*
yeap theres a tiny gap between the battery and the back cover. Its normal. If you want to get rid of it you can put a piece of paper between the cover and the battery but i'd advice against from doing so as it may compromise the water seal smile.gif

anyway, it doesn't bother me laugh.gif

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Feb 7 2011, 10:21 PM)
getting this phone in 2 weeks, any last minute advices? eg. don't buy it D:
*
my advice? FASTER GET IT!! No regrets getting mine tongue.gif laugh.gif

Just buy from gtrowa on the forum. He owns a shop in Sunway Pyramid and his service is pretty good. He installed Papago for me when i got it and also charged up the phone for me before i went and collect it since i told him i wanted to use it right-away laugh.gif

and yes brightstar is the official distributor and last time there used to be many Motorola ServiceOne outlets around Malaysia, now all dunno gone where already rclxub.gif

i heard that the motorola service center is somewhere in sunway though. Can't really recall.

Added on February 7, 2011, 10:58 pmAnd if there's no support for Motorola in Malaysia, Maxis won't be selling it no? tongue.gif laugh.gif

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Feb 7 2011, 11:05 PM)
lol ok, so besides a small possibility of needing to cramp some paper in... this defy is good to go? compared to the desire?

can't rush it... cause i'm getting my defy with a mobile contract i'm signing in sydney...
*
but honestly, the rattle is very, very minor. I doubt you'll even notice it unless you shake it up and down hard lol.

and the Defy if not mistaken, actually have a better GPU than the Desire. PowerVR SGX530 on the Defy vs Adreno 200 on the HTC Desire. Thats why the Defy won the Desire in the Neocore benchmark biggrin.gif

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Feb 7 2011, 11:09 PM)
I believe there are no more official motorola service center like moto service one, it seems that motorola appointed some phone service center to be their authorized repair place like the one in sunway mentari where my phone is currently being fixed. Moto phone sales in malaysia are not as good as nokia and sony ericsson, perhaps that's the reason they closed the place and outsourced it to third party. Hopefully the technicians can do their job properly.

Just a quick ad, I got the last otterbox commuter case for defy, the person who bought this will get an additional clear screen protector and a exclusive otterbox handy dandy phone stand smile.gif just pm me if you're interested
*
Ahhh yeah, thats what the guy told me too. The current service center is in Mentari Court. So its a 3rd party service center just that its authorized by Motorola?

QUOTE(jayloon @ Feb 7 2011, 11:09 PM)
thanks for the recommending an option  notworthy.gif

what maxis? i went to pavillion, sunway pyramid, bbtone maxis centre plus a few of their maxis exclusive partner store yet, none of them has a brochure or dummy about motorola defy yet they advertise like its on fire.

i ask their staff in sunway centre, he say "sini memang tak ada la, >kalau u bijak<, pergi internet search motorola outlet"

i have to say i'm not smart, because there's no way on internet u could find any motorola local support.

i even called up motorola.my hotline(which i suspect based in sg) angmo speaking to me, they say no info about retail shop and also distributor. cool uh
*
Weird, try asking madman where he get his. Coz i think he got it from Maxis with plan also if not mistaken.

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Feb 7 2011, 11:21 PM)
Last time I asked a shop in digital mall about the milestone (phone haven't entered malaysia yet) and the guy said "motorola? hou lan mun wor..."
*
most shops just tell me 'Motorola die already la. No more Motorola already' doh.gif

QUOTE(theng168 @ Feb 8 2011, 12:10 AM)
when i told my friend im using moto, their face like wonder why i buy MOTO.
*
u take his iphone and your defy, put both in a bucket of ice see what happen. LOL! laugh.gif

just went for a drinking session yesterday, played SNSD on my phone and dumped the phone in the bucket of ice. Pretty cool party trick i tell ya'! laugh.gif

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Feb 8 2011, 01:20 AM)
btw is it worth spending
1) on a class 8 memory card?? is that is highest class? or which class is enough?
2) the zagg shield? is the screen very scratch resistant?
*
only common thing i know that can scratch the Gorilla Glass is sand or anything harder than sand since sand = glass and anything harder or as hard as glass will scratch glass itself. Metal like keys and stuff will not scratch it at all. I used to demo to my friends using a key and stabbing(yes, STABBING) the screen then wiping it off and showing them that theres no scratches tongue.gif laugh.gif

No comment on the memory card though as i'm using a class 2 and so far no problems. But i heard some people say a higher class memory card makes a lot of difference. How exactly, i'm not sure. Just a tip, get at least an 8gb or more tongue.gif laugh.gif

Added on February 8, 2011, 1:36 amand this is how tough the gorilla glass is lol.

but just as a sign of precaution, i'm ordering my screen protector from ebay laugh.gif

what is the most current price  of DEFY???
*
RM1550 from gtrowa smile.gif

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Feb 8 2011, 01:44 AM)
planning to get 32GB...

btw.... metal is harder than sand no?
*
fuhhh~~~ That should be more than enough space! laugh.gif

nope, according to the mohs scale, metal is around 4~5 while glass(silica, *ahem* sand) is around 6~7. Just beware of those hardened steel though. My friend did managed to get a scratch on his Defy using a RM400 Spyderco knife laugh.gif

and keep it away from your wife's diamonds tongue.gif

There is a way but it is tedious, if you look at the earlier pages I have posted it there. There is an easier way though, put a screen protector over it.... that is what I did when I scratched my defy screen.

i've searched through almost all of your posts in this thread but i can't find it rclxub.gif

Yeah, I read that Motorola dropped the IP67 rating somehow but was too late since most website states that the defy does IP67.

I am not saying it is not IP67 but I will say it is close and if you go all out to test it it might not perform as well as stated.
*
Its IP67 certified but moto dropped the rating coz they don't want to be responsible in case anything happens.

Hey bro, you using Setvsel right? Does yours occasionally goes back to the default 800mhz clock after a reboot? Mine does. Sometimes it reverts back to 800mhz after reboot and sometimes it maintains my oc rclxub.gif

Just flashed to Froyo yesterday night. After almost 1 day of usage, i can conclude that:

1. very minor difference in performance in terms of menu and homescreen fluidity
2. Flash works, but some site doesnt.
3. Wifi signal improved i think. Previously its pretty hard to maintain wifi signal in my room, now i have no problems with coverage throughout my whole house with speedtest giving 20~30ms ping and 2~3 dl/ul with my 10mbps Unifi line.
4. GPS signal weaker i think. Haven't really tested this out yet but time it takes to lock onto a sat is longer. Haven't really tested it properly yet, just a simple test with gpstest while outdoors
5. I miss the old moto connected music player! The lyrics works better than the Tunewiki lyrics. Plus the connected music player already have song recognition built in.
6. Quadrant speeds increased quite a lot but Neocore is pretty much exactly the same at 41~fps.
7. Black notification bar looks way better laugh.gif
8. new animations looks cooler too tongue.gif

Using jboogie3's orange deblur btw laugh.gif

jesse: i guess thats your only way bro. no choice sweat.gif

after i installed it and clicked Recovery Boot, the phone gets stuck at the black screen and nothing happens rclxub.gif

I just bought the Defy, is a nice phone even compare to my previous Iphone3G.

But I find it's battery is kind of weak? Can i know how long can you guys' Defy last?

TQ.
*
really? I've got the opposite. My battery life is pretty damn long!

unplug at 11am, go work reach 12pm, connect to work wifi straight away and online msn + skype + gtalk. Browsing net with dolphin browser roughly 1hour and quite frequent msning and slight gaming PLUS turn on GPS to track my night jogging using CardioTrainer and a couple of calls and around 20~30 smses and currently as of now its showing 23% battery remaining. When i came home i remembered i saw the battery % was around 40.

QUOTE(lingch @ Feb 20 2011, 02:55 PM)
If your defy contain motoblur you will see a 'blur' sign at the back cover next to the M logo of the phone. SEA sets all doesn't contain blur services but still includes some of the applications and blur ui. Rip of the blur apps doesn't do much help though cause there's no blur services to begin with.

It is fundamental on 1st charge your phone overnight charge and some batteries may need few days or up to a week to make itself get used to the essential consumption. So yea, give it few days you will be surprised wink.gif
*
actually the 1st charge just charge as normal until full. that only applies to older NiMH batteries but newer Li-ion batteries does not require a break-in charge.

u can read about it in www.batteryuniversity.com smile.gif

Just collect the XtremeGuard from TAGreptiles this morning ^^

Going to apply it today, and use my ZN5 for these 2 days.  yeah!
*
Good luck applying it. Took me a good few hours to apply it LOL!

Everytime I apply either got air bubbles or dust particle underneath so must remove, wash and reapply again and I think I repeated the process around 4 times @.@ go find youtube for ZAGG Invisible Shield installation guide since its pretty much exactly the same thing.

No after i applied the screen protector, my typing especially in portrait mode improved tremendously! thumbup.gif
