Question 1 : Yes, for the money i paid ($0), of course i am satisfied !!! 
Question 2 : The common defect, like Lingch said, the infamous earpiece problem. If you are under warranty, nothing to worry about. Motorola can fix the prob. Even no warranty, nothing that cannot be fix if you know how to do it. I fix mine myself. 
Question 3: If you say official, dream hard....very hard. If you say unofficial, there will be a genius somewhere that can provide you with 2.3.

I will definitely get defy over optimus one...but galaxy ace

So whats the best custom rom avail?

Anychance I could meet up with any of you guys here to try out your Defy? ( as in see the scroll smooth or not, function and stuffs.)

Wanted to get one but want to make sure that I am satisfy with the phone, as i just tried out the Desire Z and the 800mhz proc is quite sluggish to my liking, so I'm afraid the Defy's 800mhz would be the same, and Maxis doesnt have any demo unit.
