no we changed server so your dns is probably not recached yet. if you are having trouble accessing the site add a new line in your 'hosts' file (c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

CODE
87.98.242.171  rapidgen.net
87.98.242.171  www.rapidgen.net
87.98.242.171  api.rapidgen.net

Our own dns change should have been instant for most people but sometimes your isp has their own dns caching rules which we can do nothing about, sorry about that sad.gif But, thanks for reporting cool.gif

Sorry folks, but we're still having insanely high cpu load problems on some of our servers. It doesn't appear to be a dos attack, more probably a hardware issue. We're waiting on support to help us with the issue. It might take a few days to sort the issue, but everyone will be credited with extra days after the problem is sorted.

We are working to resolve this as fast as possible but evidently it's not an easy fix!

Sincere apologies for this major inconvenience.

To all those wondering 'is the site back online yet' etc we haven't really resolved the problem yet. Although it appears to be working again at times, the load shoots up again. And it's not cpu load, but load average. I have talked with our datacenter and having run some hardware tests there appears there is nothing wrong, but it doesn't explain why there is such a high load average and hanging on the site.

We are still investigating the problem and we will credit extra days as promised once the problem is found, and fixed. Until then we can't promise that using the site will be a pleasant experience.

Here I will quote our news section for those who say we didn't inform you of what's going on (and also for those who might not be able to read it anyway when the site is offline at times):

CODE
RapidGen Server Maintenance and Updates
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 19:28:23 +0000

We are currently having some major problems with our main download servers. There is a high load problem, but it's uncertain how this load is being caused. We do not think it's a dos attack of any kind, but we can't be sure at this point. There might be either a hardware, or as yet unforseen issue which is causing the problem.

During this period you may experience strange errors on our main site, including slow page loads, login errors, slow link generation, difficulty downloading (slow or connect failure), amongst other unforseen issues. We are working as quick as we can with our datacenter to find the cause of the issues and to rectify them. Please note that the errors you see might not necessarily reflect the true problem, for example, several users have reported an error regarding logging in from a different location, but this is merely due to the high load. In any case we suggest you contact us via support.

Please note that until we resolve any issues, our site will unfortunately remain under long periods of high load, and we recommend that you refrain from using it in the meantime. We need to have the site online for diagnostic purposes.

Once we have fixed the server, we will get all filehosters back in order. Also, we will be giving every premium member an extension on their existing product, which we hope will be sufficient compensation for the site errors.

Meantime, please bear with us and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience!

Best Regards,
Rapidgen Staff

Further Updates
Tue, 05 Mar 2013 03:32:02 +0000

Apparently the high load issues which recently plagued our servers has since been resolved. Very soon, every currently active premium member's account will be extended by 7 days for free, as compensation for the downtime. We urge anyone whose account has expired within the last week or so, to take advantage of this by signing up now.

If you have used the subscribe option with paypal, your subscription auto-payment date might not be automatically aligned with this change so you should cancel your current subscription profile so as to avoid any further issues.

If you need help with this, or have any further issues, do open a support ticket.

this is very outdated...we've already changed our ip since then smile.gif if those lines don't exist in your hosts file, then you have some other problem if you still cannot access the site.

we're [a little] slow on updating our ssl certificates so you might have problems with the https connection to our site/servers, please stand by as we work on it.

@lwk

Basically yes, have managed to extend the ip blocks but not the server. I think they will give us a few days to sort it out, + I have contacted them to do so wink.gif

If not, it's not the end of the world, we can [hopefully] find somewhere else whistling.gif

Delete any ssl exceptions in your firefox for our domain, then download our CA.crt and install into Firefox, tick all boxes like this user posted image. Restart firefox and access https://rapidgen.org and you shouldn't get the warnings any more smile.gif

If using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, download the ca.crt to your pc, double-click it and click on 'Install Certificate' to install to windows. Restart Chrome/IE if running, then the warnings should disappear.

The main thing to make sure of is you remove any ssl exceptions before you install the cert in your browser or you may get ssl conflict error(s). shocking.gif
