Hey guys, kinda interested in maxis FTTH, but I have some questions if anyone is willing to help answer?

1. anyone willing to do a pingplotter test so i have an idea of latency and what their network is like, vaguely?

2. dns issues? and also probably censorship related, are any sites blocked and whatnot? i guess this kinda ties in with question 3. below

3. can i use my own router and has anyone tried?

4. whats the deal with port forwarding? apparently its impossible or a hassle? afaik maxis seems to use some sort of transparent proxy eh?

5. what happens when you go over the cap? some of the feedback says you get capped to a painful 10% of advertised speed, any truth to that?

6. so what is the network architecture like? this question is probably harder to answer, but my reasoning is that maxis's network is less congested in my area, so i'll switch to them because TM obv isn't doing shit with fixing theirs. please respond.

hey, did any of u guys now when that maxis will lunch it own IPTV??? really want to upgrade my internet but still mix feeling with unifi or maxis..
i hope that maxis will collaborative with astro for iptv..

I doubt that too. The current pricing for 10Mbps is Rm218, will they give discount of almost 50%? hmm..

Even I am now paying RM118 for 6Mbps after loyalty discount.

Anyhow, it will be DEFINITELY FANTASTIC if Maxis does so.

Yes, you would need to walk into the nearest TM Point to terminate UniFi and at the same time, apply for Maxis FTTH. Most of my customers apply such that the termination date coincides with the installation date of Maxis FTTH.

Would like to share my experience and feedback so far with my Maxis Fibre Home but i'm sure alot of people will say I'm bias since I'm a Maxis employee....

All fibre cable internet providers have a 24 months contract at the moment and it is standard as the cost to lay out the infrastructure is really quite costly.

More value added goodies will come for sure.... :-)

well, i am interested, in fact very interested when they said iptv is coming soon and it is astro, if that is true, than i can pay my bills in one go, astro + internet + phone. much more convenient~

DrPitchard, is it possible to upgrade from the 6mbps pakage? I only just got mine bout 3 months ago. Seems unfair that new subscribers get that good an offer and make existing customers feel a little shortchanged..

well, there is two type of installation, if you live in landed house, sure you will get fiber into your house, but if you live in highrise(condo,apartment) building, fiber is not going into your house, instead using the original telephone line...

grrr....my diablo 3 also cant play ping at 200+ to US server... grrrr.... so do i have to cancle my maxis now?

you can't just subscripe to Netflix.... you need a US based VPN to access... take that price into consideration as well

secondly, for FPS gaming, not sure for others but it doesnt work at all for me!!#!#!@ my 512kbps Streamyx had better latency than this
