Tested, speedtest on d other server, P1, TM, Umobile get around 5MB, but maxis is 11MB. Tested download, still quite stable, direct ftp can be reach 1.4Mb/s from microsoft website, download song from china website, still consider ok, average 700kb/s

Added on June 20, 2012, 7:08 pmThomson router are provide very bad wifi signal actually... compare to unifi router Dlink which i think not strong wifi signal as well. I think if got money and time wan to bought another router to setup. Then can by pass time DNS and get better wifi signal quality >"<
*
dlink dir-615 wifi signal is real bad if u living in double storey hse. on 1st floor i got 48% signal strength. on normal operation it's just hot. the wifi signal fluctuates 30% - 50%. my VPN to company LAN via notebook disconnect frequently... vmad.gif

i replaced it with Asus RT-N66U, all the above problem SOLVED notworthy.gif cool2.gif

perfect 100% router strength on end devices thumbup.gif

the router itselfs runs 24hrs + and it's warm if compare with DIR-615 it;s HOT.

Hi guys,

Summary : Maxis provides one of the worst customer service I had ever experience. Broken promises at least 5 times and till now still in limbo what to do next

Full story below

########

I installed Maxis 4mbps package about 1 mth back through their employee referral program (my sis works in maxis)

before installation was done, suddenly maxis came up with the 10mbps package and i quickly double confirm with my sis if i need to cancel my 4mbps and apply 10mbps fresh or get the 4mbps first and then upgrade later. My sis check with the PIC and said install first and upgrade later

ok, so i go along with it. after installation, called CS about this and get a case no. CS told me to go to Maxis centre to submit the form to upgrade and I duly do so in E-Curve centre

waited and waited, still nothing. after about 2 weeks, called back CS and they said will complete the upgrade in 1 week

waited 1 week, still nothing.

called back CS and she promised no matter what (either good or bad news), someone from e-Curve will call me that day

waited, till next morning, nobody called

call again CS to complain and they check with e-curve and feedback got technical or some mumbo jumbo issue, not sure when can complete the upgrade. I told them I won't give them a "blank cheque". they must give me a deadline that they will fulfill. the CS told me someone WILL call me the next day about it

waited the next day (and no surprisingly), nobody called

again, i call the CS ....

Note : The next few steps just repeat call CS, promise call back, never call me, i call back CS to complain ....

i was wondering if they are playing mind games with you. hoping to delay until end of june 2012. that you sign up at non promotional price of rm218 instead of rm118 offer?

Can you please share your setup experience with the Asus. sweat.gif

Thanx in advance. notworthy.gif

honestly it's more easier to configure compare with tplink. cause i personaly tested on unifi. it runs perfectly awesome. i am not sure about maxis fiber.

hopefully others can help to contribute for maxis fiber,

others installation procedure straight forward.. however i am not sure this M1-Fiber refers to maxis internet. kindly see attachment. u also also opt for manual setting & define VLAN too.

m1 is not maxis..
it is a provider in Singapore
*
what's the full name?

besides we can define manual VLAN assignment. that matches with setting from maxis. i am not sure if that worked or someone tried it...

if it works, maxis user will have a brand new life notworthy.gif

the manual itself from asus. does not explain how you setup your isp. it was meant to help users to understand the function menu to ease their installation.

there are many setup guides in lowyat forum. most are not up to date. there are so many you can find. you have to read and understand carefully from many sources. before you conclude the right thing to do. well you have to use own judgement to do right thing. there is no universal guide for layman from A - Z due to so many various products in line.

unifi has large group of subscribers in entire m'sia. this is why asus did their r&d for marketing purposes. but you all can rant at asus in majority. they surely will do something... brows.gif

Just ask why need to do setup since after install already can use.  hmm.gif

the router itself needs to be configure to your isp. you also have to define your wireless setting.

To do setup due to need to better wifi signal.
*
it has 3x high gain antennas. helps a lot if you living in double storey house.

the isp like maxis/unifi offer us cheapo gateways/routers... this why it cannot satisfy everyone's need. unless ok they give us a menu package.. choose which one you like at different price heheee... if they do that more training cost to their support personals wahahaha..

Actually pass few day i just saw a up to date user guide to setup A-Z for maxis internet. Including the maxis vlan setup and all those settings, but thomson router nid to use if you wan to use ur maxis phone, due to market not much voip router.
*
it be appropriate if the maxis phone connects to btu. the user did was adding a new router reusing the thomson. he's open to more opinions from expert out here. how to get rid of the thomson router.

That means we need change their default setting to get better signal? Do you have any better setting to shared here?
*
the router hardware itself has the technology. you just have to define your SSID, passkey & security protocol. you can have option to use google DNS or any other as you pleases under WAN option. when you succeeded connected to your isp. the ip from your ISP will show the google dns. you can opt for auto detection. cause it will grab the DNS from maxis/unifi depending on your service provider.

Toh is success, but depend what asus router u buy, do remember should found the router come with the vlan setting only can use.

Added on June 21, 2012, 11:33 am

Actually after u flash tomato firmware, all problem solved. As asus firmware always consume alot bug ~.~
*
i tried successfully on unifi. run 24hrs more on audio steaming via radio internet. all goes well with no overheating like the dir-615. the asus router is just warm only. signal strength around the house no worries. i hopefully gain insight on maxis fiber cause service still new.

if that works, everyone can liberate themselves from dreaded thompson router. not forgetting the deck phone goes to btu. like how i liberate myself from tm stock router icon_idea.gif cool2.gif
