QUOTE(LEVIATHAN @ Sep 3 2010, 06:41 PM) Get an iPhone 4. I just received an email from Maxis that iPhone 4 is coming real soon :-) Iphone is a joke. Apple gives out a new phone with a new OS frequently, and you have to buy the new phone to use the new OS. If you're using android, you just have to buy the phone once, and you can always upgrade to a newer OS for free. Opensource ftw!

QUOTE(MYstombox @ Sep 4 2010, 10:47 PM) That is entirely HTC's fault for not releasing 2.2 on the hero, mainly due to marketing reasons. But you can install custom froyo roms on the hero, no? Just a simple google search turned this up: http://hero-roms.blogspot.com/The hardware supports it, and as I mentioned earlier, it's really up to the user to do a bit of searching to maximise the hardware potential. I think what that poster meant was that the open source community will always develop roms for it and provide more up to date OS versions for android phones as long as there are people using the hardware. +1

With the outstanding lineup of phones available and coming out soon that will be running Android, it isn't a mystery why Android's popularity is skyrocketing. It's funny to be witnessing history repeat itself. Apple's closed system will once again render them as a niche while the open Android system will take over the main stream. Apple got a bit of a head start in the market so it will take a while longer, but it is inevitable.
