It's nice but quite expensive lo, if going to all concert I paid SGD$188. If not attending the concert (just the events and exhibition) not that expensive. Less than SGD50 if not mistaken.

I posted in photo gallery 1 year ago, all shot with my good old D40 =D

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1237416

Didn't cover much for the event but more for figure etc. Concert can't take photo so no photos for concert...

I can't load that page now, connection slow.

Out of topic question, those who are going to AFAX next week know which hotel is near to the conventional hall and cheap like SGD 150 or less ? Sorry. notworthy.gif
*
Last time I booked hotel before I go singapore for AFA09, but when I reached the bus station there and got into a taxi, the taxi driver told me no need to book hotel before going, just ask the taxi drivers where got cheap hotel near the exhibition centre (if it's suntec city tell him) and he will recommend...

He told me all taxi drivers in Singapore know that. But I never tried before. Last time I stayed in a hotel (forgot name) for $118 each night, but not very close to the exhibition centre...

Still walking distance ?
*
No walking distance is not really possible (i went sg 2 times only, not so sure) because if Im not mistaken, around suntec city either there's no cheap hotel or there's no nearby hotel... We took MRT to the place. Upon reaching there still need to walk a bit but not tiring.

But that's going towards the exhibition. When going back to hotel, MRT closed already, taxi double charge, so we WALKED back to the hotel, my friend is PR there he led the way, around 30minutes~45minutes route.

Sorry for out-of-topic guys, just helping him =D

I want to buy a new lens with my money, but I'm 19 lor. Student where to get that much money. My money also from my parents. Haha tongue.gif

FX in the future with my own money tongue.gif
Ohh btw talking about UWA, I really like the distortion made by it. Planning to get a tokina 1116 in the future. IIRC, kenrockwell said it'a better than Nikkor 1224, though the range is better smile.gif

I'm exactly 19 years old like you lor, also student somemore government university, parents can't sponsor me. Since I'm determined to get my own set of gears but without relying on my mum (mum only 1k+ salary and dad no longer here) so I worked during semester break and save money to get my gears ^^

hi all,

any lens to be recommend?
main purpose: traveling, family gatherings, outings
reason to use dslr: get poison from fren, no longer satisfied with normal camera's sharpness+ quality, likes the blury and 3D effect, travel quite oftens...
my jobs do not really need me to shoot, just a plain interest and hobby smile.gif
budget: plan to get D90+18-200..but worrying if i got the rite lens for my purposes...
A friend of me suggesting to get a normal kit lens 18-105 as new dslr user, which is enough for my purpose. i have go through some reviews, suggesting 18-200 as all in one lens, any forumer using this? any comments?

Please kindly advise..thanks a lot smile.gif
*
Looking at your purpose it would be better if you get a kit 18-105mm lens. I'm telling if you do not know yet, all rounded lens like 18-200mm lens is versatile, convenient but you sacrifice overall sharpness and it's more expensive and heavier. a 18-55 + 55-200 is much better than a 18-200mm's sharpness.

Since you're using for traveling, gatherings and outings, 18-105mm is sufficient and sharp enough, and for normal outings you rarely need above 100mm. Getting a 18-105mm + a 50mm 1.8 (for low light and bokeh) will give me more fun with a cheaper price. But well there are still many people using 18-200 because it's simply convenient. It's your call.

BTW can any Moderators/Staff close this thread? V10 is already running and this V9's TS is missing... Thanks.
