The closest to N900 is actually Milestone and now the Milestone 2 which is better, have similar form factor, keyboard, etc.
iPhone4 you will loose physical keyboard and loose lots of freedom, loose true multi-tasking, loose contacts integration, loose desktop, loose widgets, and many more; What you gain is smoothness, response, apps, games and finally, FAME/BRAND/ATTENTION.

Not sure how many N900 users willing to switch to iPhone4 since there're so many "real" smartphone out there and some which are more powerful, plus Android is gaining lots of popularity and apps/games development.
Then upcoming, there's MeeGo.

Finally, you can buy iPod Touch 4 at much cheaper price, you can save up to RM1.5K by getting iPod Touch 4, and then spend RM1.5K on many "real" smartphones.
If your intention is for the games, getting iPod Touch 4 shouldn't be a problem as you don't really have to carry it everywhere, it's just like having a PSP Touch (no physical buttons).
Of course, some people may think better to get all in one; well, yes, it depends on your $$$ and how you spend it. So, if one think it's worth paying extra RM1.5K just to get the Phone function, then just go for it, there's no wrong or right; just like some people willing to pay few thousand for a "brand", it's the person's choice.

For me, can't replace. It's feels like a gaming device for me instead, but I still prefer my PSP with real buttons. My ipod Touch 3G I just play for fun sometimes, I hardly touch it also... Sometimes when I try to on it, already out of battery, too long never touch.
Anyway, I get it since I need to buy a GPS and since I got bluetooth GPS receiver, might as well spend on iPod Touch, I can enjoy the games plus there's some app which I want on iOS.

For me, I can't imagine myself using iPhone4 even tough there smoothness and response is nice, but NO DESKTOP (nothing to see, see menu? see wallpaper? LoL), NO WIDGETS, NO CUSTOMIZATION (who iPhone?), No contacts integration, no physical keyboard (die, type SMS, worst if type email or type message in forum, can cry; I use iPod Touch, press until I fed up, I just want to type few words, can vomit blood and when type wrong, no arrow keys to go the place I want to edit, vomit blood again), no Flash, mobile version website,... wah lao, so many, I cannot imagine further...

Oh gosh! My "home" partition left around 155MB.

Tried to install hamster lite get out of memory/space error, asked to delete somethings.

Tons of things/rubbish, lol; I'm the type of person who don't like to remove/uninstall even I don't/rarely use.

I think previous Kroll took up quite a lot of space already. There're many things not yet install also, before PR1.2, I did install Quake 3 Arena, and some others; those will take up further space. I haven't install those in PR1.2 already no more space, lol.

Front Camera has very poor performance under low light; Try outdoors. If you install HealthCheck app, you can use it to test the front camera and also many other things.

For the yellow-ish tint, as suggested:
1. Is there any screen protector installed?
2. Try take a picture of your N900 with yellow-ish tint effect.

It was mentioned during one of the interview session with someone in Nokia. The OVI Map will be ported to MeeGo. Once everything is done, they will see if porting to N900 is easy, if yes, then yes, if not, then... what? Maemo who?

If talking about smartphone, there's no place for it.
But if talk about multimedia/entertainment, you can put it top places.

Anybody got wonder why they call it JAIL-BREAK, unlike other technical/smartphone terms like hack/crack/rooting/etc?
Simply put, once the user jb, they consider come out of jail and they're free but vulnerable to attacks/etc. So, if the user is not "smart" and they come out of jail, then dangerous for them loh; So, better go back inside jail.

Anyway, it's based on viewers vote; Many not many iPhone owners go and vote or bother about it. So, don't take it seriously; Who knows, maybe can say N900 owners kiasu and go vote
It's viewers based, so it depends on the what owners are the viewers; it's not technical comparison by some professional.

Yup, fully agree; I have iPod Touch 3G but I prefers my PSP much more; No real buttons are no fun, unless you're playing touch based game or simple games. Certain types of game works well/better on touch-based devices, but it'll be better if PSP have Touch Screen, wakaka

Good to know many great Racing Games on iOS is coming/available on Symbian^3. The one I'm looking forward to is GT Racing: Motor Academy:


Too bad PSP doesn't have such nice Racing Game... the NFS Shift on PSP s*cks... GT ain't fun either, those on iOS are way better on gameplay (except I prefer manual transmission which is not working/fun on touch only devices); I only enjoyed Colin McRae, Underground Rivals and Mightnight Club on PSP.

You can try GT Racing Academy in iOS, I like the way it gives you the in car view with steering. Of course I prefer to play in PSP with real button, and I can play manual transmission via L1 and R1.

PSP not much variety of racing game, the newer one all s*cks, too arcade style; The NFS Shift on PSP is so fail.... Look at smartphone version (e.g. iOS, Bada OS, Symbian^3), they look great and have nice gameplay, when you crash the window will crack and break,... and can play drift, syok... The PSP version... eh... this is NFS meh?

I agree with you if compare to PSP, PSP games are better, or way better, but *some* particular games are better in iOS, like NFS Shift... Duh... Don't know what's wrong...
But REAL games like Monster Hunter Freedom, MGS Portable Ops, etc are not fight la, way way beyond iOS level, haha.

But, wonder how long need to wait only. When will launch? End of this year? Next Year? If next year, when? January? April? June? Nobody knows. Consider how long you can wait and decide.
The MeeGo device most probably will announce later during MeeGo conference or something. Let say they announce will launch in January 2011, you still need to consider when will launch in Malaysia.
Like N8, recent update seems like it will only launch around end of October in Malaysia. Previous I remember is early September, then change to early October and now end of October? Since no official date announce by Nokia, we just can wait.

Yea,... but 1Ghz and 512MB RAM is not enough... By the time they launch, it will be next year, where people start to haev 1.5Ghz or Dual Core ARM... As for RAM... the Desire HD already have 768MB.
I think if next year they're planning to launch... the spec must meet the specs during that time...

The problem is, MeeGo devices are referred to as high end devices; I would expect it to have great hardware. Although it's true that it's important that the OS is optimize and utilizes the hardware/management, but having more powerful hardware is a PLUS. I would prefer have BOTH, especially for mobile devices where the hardware can't be upgraded but the software/OS itself can be optimized/improved/polished. So, there, I will still prefer they provide a decent hardware, the OS can't be perfect, they will eventually improves it overtime, but if the hardware itself is poor, then it's just tweaking, tweaking and tweaking,... like N900........ Seriously lack of memory,....

Take HD2 for example with 768MB ram, it may not be a requirement, to run, but it's a plus to have more especially since we cannot upgrade/add ram..... So it's more important to give than not to give.
EDIT: Another example: iOS4 for iPhone 3G vs 3GS vs iPhone 4.

Another plus would be, if we can dual boot or even better multi-boot... and the community ports Maemo, Android, etc over. With the great hardware available, it's better.


Oh, another; in case they have some new version OS that somehow have higher requirements of hardware, at least, the device itself still meets the requirements.

For me, E7 failed mainly on 2 factor:
1. Camera lack of autofocus (or EDoF?).
2. No memory slot.

For contacts, you can sync via PC Suite or latest version OVI Suite; Only SMS and Notes are not compatible.

Haha, I thought you already got DSLR? Your next one should upgrade to pro grade DSLR, get the body only, it can still use your current DSLR lens right? Or your current one is pro grade with full frame sensor?

1D too expensive liao, hehe; 5D Mark II among cheapest Full Frame you can get plus got HD Video Capture.

5D Mark II like buy 2 consumer grade/entry level DSLR package loh; But I think it's worth it since it comes with video capture, can consider DSLR entry level (3K) + Camcorder HD (3K). Lens buy later lo, can share with your current DSLR lens first mah, hehehe
Full Frame generally have less or very little noise at high ISO, you can snap nice picture in low lights plus the picture quality I seen from full frame sensor are simply superb.

If talk about outdated fast, then true la, technology moving faster and faster; but I think the pro level dslr change less frequent compared to consumer grade and the price/value stays longer. Consumer grade seems keep update and old model value drop very fast.

That macro lens you posted, my friend also told me about it that day, seems like a popular macro lens.
