QUOTE(victor87 @ Aug 30 2010, 05:27 PM) Since the last few threads lahhhh !! adoiiiii~ 1. Trestor advantage brake pads for the front to replace the lousy stock padsAnyone here done any modification to their Persona yet?? 2. APM Performax low springs. Fitted ONLY the rear to lower the stupid looking height tonggek butt. Now it is leveled and looks more like a normal car rather than a tonggek butt sedan. Rides and handles more less the same. Still feels almost like stock. 3. Air intake silencer delete. Does nothing much but just adds to a SLIGHTLY more throaty air intake sound when full throttle / pedal to the metal. It is still quiet like stock during cruising and high speed though. 4. Front component speakers from Pegasus and rear subwoofer and amp mounted on the sub box. Both amp and box are from previous car. 4. New wheels... oh yes... future mod coming soon. |

20k service here i come.
Helix HX7 semi synthetic - RM100 Oil Filter - RM13 Labor - RM30 to 35 (under warranty servicing. If normal servicing (outside mech) would be about RM10 labor.) Spark plugs recommended to change - I reject. Too early to change the plugs. |

QUOTE(armadasaxon @ Sep 2 2010, 03:14 PM) Hello guys, Yes it is drive by wire. You will feel disconnected from the engine (only long timers and motorheads can tell the difference) if compared to conventional drive by cable. I prefer cable for sure. No choice. New tech. Get use to it! Just bought the persona elegance hline chiffon green. Is this car drive by wire? And i wonder,i have been driving for a week almost. How come my fuel comsp :13l/100km...i tot suppose to be around 7-8l/100km? I drive around 70-80kmph oni leh..New car i din rev at all. |

Added on September 2, 2010, 4:36 pm can reject the schedule service? later they said warranty void? QUOTE(bloodseeker @ Sep 2 2010, 10:25 PM) Hello all, -wow sounds bad. i hope u can get it fixed soon...... it sure is pain in the ass when that happens man. new car some more.I own a 1 month old A/T PE h-line. Sometimes in traffic jam or about to exit any junction, my engine will suddenly died off. This happens average once a day. I have brought back to the SC and they say didnt find any problem with my car. Anyone know what is happening? |

QUOTE(Kevio @ Sep 3 2010, 12:18 AM) - just wondering what other cars uses this "drive by wire" system? answers to your questions:-- how come the AT doesn't have the "overdrive" button? is it bcoz there's a 3rd gear shift? - 2 maintain the engine in top condition does it needs 2 be "warmed" up in the morning or can juz start the car & drive off straight away? thanks! - more and more cars nowadays come with drive by wire. - no need to leave the engine warm up in the morning. Just start and drive off as usual except that dun rev or do fast high rev pickup before the temp reaches norm. operating temp. |

QUOTE(DaBestOne @ Sep 3 2010, 09:06 AM) ??? All cars la. Some ppl would prefer to let it idle in the morning till warmed up. But that is just wasting fuel. One could just drive away immediately of course do not whack it before its fully warmed up la. Just drive normally. |

QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 3 2010, 10:06 AM) Wah this rim very nice.. Got 17" for it? humm... that is a bit too extreme! i bet most ppl do not do this la. anyways... different ppl different opinions and prefs. Ur brake pads so fast can worn out, I think thats good bah, cos i feel sayang want to throw out my ori brake pads unused when i get the car, so at least im at peace now knowing how fast will it wear out. The best way to maintain engine is to 1) before turning off ur engine, dont rev the car, let it idle for a few seconds after stopping then turn off engine. (This is due to petrol have some lubricating properties and the engine oil would settle on the cylinder walls it will prevent your engine from unnecessary friction on your next start) 2) When doing a cold start (eg, in the morning), turn off ur aircon and blower first. Then only start the engine and dont rev right after starting as the engine incurs most of their wear and tear during startups and shutdowns. Turning off aircon and blower reduces load on the engine during initial start up, therefore minimizing wear. 3) Do not do high revs when the engine is cold as the engine oil hvnt reach its optimum viscosity yet. Therefore the oil film protecting the cylinder head and wall will be lesser than usual as the oil is slightly more thicker. As for Drive-by-wire (DBW) cars, the throttle response is nvr as good as cable counterparts. I have a Sentra B14 and i can feel the difference of throttle response compared to Myvi, Persona and even the new Civic. However I have installed D1 Spec Throttle Controller in the Civic and i can feel great results. Definitely a worthwhile investment I would recommend those who wants faster response from their throttle. oh btw, a bit correction to ur statement - MyVi is cable driven not dbw. |

QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 3 2010, 11:50 AM) LOL.. My mom using the B14 sentra for 12yrs ald. Engine still almost as good as new, idling very smooth.. Very sayang the car as its still almost as good compared to Myvi, Persona, Vios etc.. And its a manual! -if ur referring to myvi AT yes it is laggy. caused mainly by the AT (very bad TCU programming and ratio). owned one for 4 years till i sold it off and got persona. Oh sorry bout the Myvi statement, I always felt the throttle was laggy.. Didnt get used to DBW as I have been driving cable system all this while (semua kereta lama) .. -ur mum's car... wow... must be spending lots of attention and care to the car. nice! QUOTE(Beogatts @ Sep 3 2010, 02:49 PM) make sure u find a correct proton SC that allow u to bring own engine oil.. mayb the one that u always go to.. -authorized service agents usually allows such slacking. the one i went allowed me to bring own oil.. but when it comes to warranty, she said not to mention tht u used other oil. but make sure u trust the engine oil tht u bought. i used semi sync Bardahl for my 1k service a week ago.. I suggest u to use Semi rather than Full. Semi can also be used for 8k-10k km. Full synthetic is mostly for bigger engine like 1.8 n above.. n it is thicker n heavier compare to Semi. for 1.6, u will feel abit heavier to rev if u use fully synth.. plus, fully is also used for those country that have winter season as the oil wont freeze up during winter n easy to warm the engine up. -full syn does not mean it will be heavier. it all depends on the weight of the oil itself. the lighter the oil the lighter the car will feel. tried and tested -end of the day, it all comes down to |

QUOTE(rckh @ Sep 3 2010, 04:47 PM) I have used Bardahl semi 10W 40 once before @ 10K km oil change & I find that my car does not run as smoothly as when I am using Delphi semi 10W 40. Did you buy the Bardahl @ RM65-something? Its contents is measured in quarts instead of litres. I also feel Fully syn. is a waste of money on the Persona. If you have a lot of $ or you can buy Fully syn. cheap, by all means, us it. By the way, I have used my own lube all this time. Hi dude. So which oil you recommend? And lastly... how much $$$? |

QUOTE(Kevio @ Sep 5 2010, 12:09 AM) thanks! with or without the OD button actually its the same. Just that ours without the OD button.... the additional Gear 3 option is there for us to switch to when needed. Though, i myself prefer with OD button. but would u have an idea why there's no "overdrive" button? is "overdrive" considered old school tech? Added on September 5, 2010, 12:17 am wow! informative feedback! thanks! Old school or not..... both the same! Just that different manufacturer different preference. |

QUOTE(jackyap84 @ Sep 5 2010, 11:23 AM) not to say under power or not. you just need to select the right one for the power range you are expecting. anyways, persona's AT gearings are really great. Smooth, fast and efficient enough. Very happy with it. I find myself very rarely manually shifting the gear levers. |

I noticed that Persona does consume the coolant quite a bit before each servicing intervals. My younger bro's 08 model is also like this.
My ex MyVi is not. I rarely top up the coolant even after a year. |

QUOTE(MjMax15 @ Sep 7 2010, 07:38 AM) got my new 16'' rims yesterday dude, could you please state what tire size you are using on 16 inch? Very nice rim design. I can't wait to change mine. I am aiming for 16 inch also instead of 17 inch due to various reasons. its on my budget: rm2,000 including tyre setting and filled with nitrogen gas.. ![]() dunno if not suit with the car body but had no choice within my budget here.. then, after this i can think about bodykit & rear disc brake.. AND, do you mind posting bigger sized pictures of it side ways (viewing the whole side of the car). Or mb email me at nhaixin69@yahoo.co.uk ?? I hope you don't mind |
