but the same can be said with Scholes, he starts every attack. The saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent.
In Hargreaves with have someone with the dominating persona and hard tackler, i.e Keano's true successor. I love the way he plays and he really shows the will to win balls and matches. My fav part of him is during the UCL 2008 in Moscow where he took the penalty and score. He pumped his fist with a mean look and was almost practically saying "take that u fekking blues!"
Scholes is on another level himself, and not many are and close to joining him on the same step.
Hargreaves ain't a Keano successor. Hard tackler, dominating persona is just part of it. Passing ability is more important. Don't have to be great like Scholes, but have to at least be useful or comfortable enough there. Hargreaves haven't showed enough there to suggest we can rely on him there aside from providing defensive cover and and an endless amount of hard work in that position. He looked really good out wide though..

Rio played 45 mins for the reserve. Ando played the full 90mins. Score was 2-1 in our favour. Macheda got the winner.
Macheda keep banging in the goals in reserve, I just wonder if SAF willing to start him more often in the league fixture and maybe then, Macheda could stamp his presence in the starting lineup. With Chicharito and Owen, he currently the fifth choice striker in the order and that is quite sad for a player his class. and knee made from glass injury prone player. We had one in the form of OH, didn't need another one. With so many attacking options in our team, I doubt SAF going to sign any established players and expensive one. Youth maybe, but not those senior player that need games under their belt or they start whining.
And whats up with Carrick, didn't play also kena hamtam??
If he keep impressing in the reserves and whenever he gets a chance for the first team, SAF will keep on giving chances to him. But for now, 10-15 games is what we're looking at unless he impresses enough to get more. He's only 19, and his game still not fully develop, but he's working on those link up stuff and he's been quite good at them. He's probably 2-3 years away from regularly contesting for a place. No need to rush. By that time, a path or two would open up with Berba and Owen getting on in age.
It's always hard to predict with youngsters. The scout might have seen him before this playing in the third division, but couldn't really recommend due to the quality of play at that level. And most teams decide to see from afar how he steps up wherever he goes. After a few games against higher quality opposition, he impressed a lot I guess making us and a few other teams sniffing around him.
Hleb is a wonderful player on youtube. He does look like those old greats who can go past players at will. Too bad his end product is a bit on the low side for someone as talented as him.
1 Frank Fielding, 2 Kyle Walker, 3 Ryan Bertrand, 4 Michael Mancienne, 5 Chris Smalling, 6 Phil Jones, 7 Tom Cleverley, 8 Jordon Henderson, 9 Danny Welbeck, 10 Daniel Sturridge, 11 Danny Rose
Substitutes 12 Martin Kelly, 13 Jason Steele, 14 Marc Abrighton, 15 Jack Cork, 16 Jack Wilshere, 17 Fabrice Muamba, 18 Nathan Delfouneso
He just made a fast solo run from his own half into the edge of the penalty area and feint two defenders at the same time and got a shot in. Too bad straight at the GK.
Cleverley created the goal for England and then at the end of that vid created another one for Delfuenso to miss.. horribly. Quite excited to see his progress.

What SAF said back then is true though, especially when there's Ballack, Deco, J.Cole, Carvalho still there at the time. Only idiots would deny it. THe was talking about the potential of the side, not the ability. Once players reach certain ages, they won't improve much further. He never said Chelsea can't win a thing or that they're not at a good level or whatever. In fact he said Chelsea would be the biggest threat to us each season I think.
First XI VDS-40 O'Shea-Vida-Rio-Evra(30+29+32+30) Valencia-Scholes-Fletcher-Nani(25+36+27+24) Berba-Rooney(30+25) =29.8
Cech(29) Bosingwa-Terry-Alex-Cole(28+30+28+30) Essien-Lampard-Mikel(28+32+24) Anelka-Drogba-Malouda(32+33+30) =29.4 ----------------- 2nd team
Hilario-us(35) Ferreira-Ivanovic-Bruma-Zhirkov(32+27+19+27) Sturridge-Benayoun-Ramires-Kakuta(21+31+24+19) Kalou-Borini(25+20) =24.5 (3 of those have not even been a regular bench player for them)
Another 2-3 years down the line..? GK Rafael-Evans-Smalling-Fabio Valencia-Fletcher-Ando-Nani Rooney-Chicharito (Gibson, Macheda, Cleverley, Welbeck, Pogba)
Cech ??-Ivanovic-Alex-Zhirkov Sturridge-Ramires-Mikel-Essien-Kakuta Kalou
Surprised the Chelsea squad is smallish.. better pray bug don't bite too many of them at the same time.
Added on September 5, 2010, 8:57 amThose ages I took is what they will be at the end of the season.
Added on September 5, 2010, 9:01 amAside from LB(Fabio still to have prove himself) and GK, I'm really happy with the other positions. Bring on the future!
Added on September 5, 2010, 9:06 amBtw, our Wayne Rooney have been pretty naughty in the last 6 months or so. He slept with a hooker/escort girl. It would be fun for the next couple of months. It won't die down anytime soon seeing who he is and who he plays for(us!). Either he would be depress over all of this to affect his performance on the pitch or he'll do a Beckham/Ronaldo. Me looking forward to all of this.
