It's not that we don't want to let our strikers chase them, but most of the time we are facing a gigantic wall right in front of their goal. How the hell are we going to utilise the pace, movement of the strikers and take advantage of whatever space they could find behind the opposition's defender. Just look at the Rangers game. That's what we're up against most of the time. And Rangers record away from home was good last season I think. Drew twice and lost once against Sevilla in the CL.
With the likes of Carrick, Scholes, Ando, Giggs, you think they can't spot a pass when they are the best at those stuff? Just google Rooney - Bolton. There's quite a few of them in games just against them. And since Ruud left, there's hardly a striker in our squad who plays on the shoulder of the last opposing defender until we got Owen last season and even then he wouldn't be able to make use of the space since his pace is not what it used to be. Chicharito is the one who can really take advantage of that, but how the hell is he supposed to work when there's hardly any space for him to run into against Rangers?
And just because it's newsworthy to be put on an official site, it doesn't mean it's true. Just look at manutd.com. They even have a rumours page there and sometimes make it as a frontpage news. No quotes from official source=Bullshit.
Form and confidence. He has always struggled after an injury to get those back. Just like the other times, it will come sooner or later. He's been like this since around March-April last year? Last game I thought he played well, just he wasn't threatening goal wise. But keep that form up, and his confidence will slowly come back. Getting goals here and there would help.
I'm looking forward to the league cup. Smalling, the twins, Obertan, Ando, Gibson, Macheda, Hernandez, probably Bebe and a few more from the reserves being involved. It's been a good playground for us these past few years ever since we took it a bit more seriously while still retaining that youthful team.
Keep Rooney fresh. He might need the confidence boost, but we have Bolton, Valencia and Sunderland next all away in a space of just a week. Rest him tonight. His overall play was good I thought against Pool. He just need to smell blood in front of goal again by scoring a few times in successive games. That would help.
And the likes of Macheda, Owen and Hernandez need games to sharpen them up. What better game to do that.
I dun think 1 game extra gonna be that huge impact. Fitness wise, I dun see any problem there.
Maybe one game wouldn't make a difference, but if he plays in successive games in a short period, while it may not exhaust him too much early on, will take a toll later on in the season. After this we have Bolton, Valencia, and after that Sunderland all away in 7 days. If fit, he's likely to start all 3 of those, especially since we have to catch the red hot Chelsea
Yup in EPG the result is that. So which one is true? Astro sure are being an ass changing stuff. They have lots of channels, show a couple of them lah.. noobs.
So we could be looking to bring 2 (a new #1 & experienced #2) instead of 1 GK in the summer? *assuming Amos will remains as 3rd GK * Or bring in a new #1, promote inexperienced Amos to #2 and promote someone internally again for #3
Finding a backup GK cheaply should be easy. It's just a case of getting a good one and I doubt we can get as good as Kuszczak have been for us. Getting another established one to replace VDS is a given. If not next summer, the summer after that so we can take our time. Kuszczak could be forced to stay if we want him to. He still have a couple of years left right?
QUOTE(syarz @ Sep 22 2010, 07:23 PM)
true indeed.. only one appearance so far which was way back in 2008 i am sure in the next transfer windows, we will be quite busy considering the veterans are in their last season. but somehow i find the new rule *players above 26 spending rule* seems to be quite strict. don't you think so?
With Nani emerging as a true assist guy for us in the team, we won't have to find a replacement for Giggs. As for in the middle to replace them both, Gibson and Ando is coming along nicely. We might need to buy one in terms of giving us numbers there, but if the likes of Pogba emerge from there, we might not have to. We'll see when the time comes.
I know most of us here arent convince with Kuszczak, but I for one, believe he can take over from VDS the #1 spot. But if we have to spend for a top GK, most of them are >26 and going to cost a lot of moneh. This is soo against Glazer's policy. Malcom Glazer wont like this
* But if I may allow myself some muppetry, get Rene Adler please! He is godlike in mah FM! *
I'm sure it's a flexible policy whereby a GK won't be considered in such cases since most good GKs are in their late 20's/early 30's. And do the club came out and said those 26 and above we won't sign for big money? Only Gill commented on stuff saying that signing like Berba(28+) is the last of his kind.
Adler? Be prepared to see Foster II. All young GKs are prone to make mistakes. Even Lloris makes them, quite a lot.
Its pretty obvious.. they have given priority for premiership club vs premiership club match...
They could have at least timed to show the delayed match better. Who do they expect to watch the game at 9.30 in the morning? Budak sekolah standard 1-3? With the amount of channels they have, one would think they would be able to show both. Sheesh. Pay so much, all we get to see is a delayed game that nobody could watch unless you a the boss of your own company who could ponteng half a day to watch the delayed telecast.
I was joking on both points We've never spend big on players above 26 even before the Glazers came in. Veron, RVN, Ferdinand were all below 26 right? I'm sure it's not a rigid policy, especially in GK case. As for Adler, I've never seen him play TBH. I was just commenting on him based on FM If there is a GK I'd really love to see playing for us, it will be De Gea.
De Gea looks good from the clips. But we haven't seen someone do one of his howlers yet. He does look good, different from the others. VDS II. Don't do any crazy saves like the others, but looked far more consistent and steady. Any GK, young or old will make mistakes, especially the younger ones. Just hope they are tough enough to ride the storm. I would love for us to get Buffon for a good price. 7 years younger than VDS and if without too much injury issues, he's likely to be able to perform at a good enough level to make a difference.
Man Utd: Kuszczak, Brown, Ferdinand, Smalling, Rafael Da Silva, Park, Anderson, Gibson, Hernandez, Owen, Macheda. Subs: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Obertan, De Laet, Corry Evans, Bebe, Eikrem.
One of Hernandez/Macheda most probably would start on the wings with Park also playing. Hernandez played on the wings against Rangers later on in that game.

Please change to 442.. currently awful to watch. Kesian Macheda and Owen. Not much joy for them so far. Only Hernandez is popping up from wide into the middle with his runs.
