QUOTE(fullstop @ Sep 15 2010, 05:24 PM)
hey just to ask if your guys bank statement has bank letterhead? I was told by the officer at lvl 4 that my bank statement from Alliance Bank (which is printed in a A4 paper and certified by the bank) is wrong/not entertained by the officers in BHC. He told me the bank statement MUST has the bank letterhead. And i replied, "but it's certified true copy by the manager of the bank" , he then said, anyone can certify this. :/ And i went to the nearby Alliance Bank and asked, they said they never issue bank statement with bank letterhead and said it's always printed in A4 paper and certified even for the visa application.
*
hmm, weird ... i was only told to include the date below the signature ... ur bank statement, it doesnt have the bank's logo/head on it?
mine was by maybank, big yellow banner on top with maybank's tiger logo and word ... but i not sure about the outcome, coz at the end i used FD cert ...

1)can i know what should i wear when i go to apply for my student visa?
2)when i arrive at the wisma mca, what should i do?what i mean is like take number then go 4th floor?or straight go 4th floor etc.?
3)what time they start to let us in n apply for visa?
4)if i don't want to wait until afternoon to finish applying student visa, should i go there really very early in the morning like 6am to queue up?
thanks for answering the questions.really appreciate it.
*
1. anything, best to be smart casual ..
2. register at ground floor then head up to lvl4, the document checking centre and right beside the canteen.
3. 8am earliest
4. book an appointment, else u will have to wait quite some time though like mentioned not much ppl

@LemonG, iirc, yes they r closed tomorrow .. it is listed as national public holiday from the news ...

the BHC once told me that they will be updating the status page daily, so its best to check there every morning and night if u r in a rush... if u just cant stand checking only then opt for text notification, of course with some fees applied ... do keep in mind, last few weeks was the peak time, application process may take up to 9 or 10 days ...

QUOTE(Angelpoli @ Sep 16 2010, 01:15 AM)
much clearer...haha...thanks~ btw...what time does it close then? what if i just go to apply visa in the afternoon and i wasn't able to apply before it close,so does that means i need to go and take a new number and queue up the next day again?
*
usual office closing hrs, but i rmb that someone mention he was able to submit past 6pm, so maybe the vfs officers overtime to collect the remaining application ..
that depends on ur luck, if i am not wrong, if the office is packed like sardine i doubt u will be able to get a number after 4pm.. so best go early to the centre and even better to make an appointment b4hand ... my friend submitted her application just last week, she made an appointment and went there at 7.55am, centre already filled with students and she was the 1st one to get checked and left the centre 55mins later ..

You better do the necessary corrections before submitting to BHC or risk RM1055 throwing down the drain and wasted 10 more days only to find out that you need to re apply.
*
yeap, better be safe than sorry ... since its all document written then correct it b4 submitting, if its the online application details that u filled wrongly then pray and hope BHC doesnt notice it ..

Aiyo ! very unfortunate indeed. This serve as a reminder not to play play at border line with BHC.
She has 2 choices now:
1) To add few more thousand RM in the bank account and wait for another 28 days before resubmission  or
2) Immediately resubmit with added parent's bank statement, fund sponsor letter from parent, birth cert translation. The parent's bank statement must have at least RM1000 ready funds for the last 28 days.
*
yeap .. i second the 2nd option ... but i think can appeal, use the included form in the envelope and appeal asap ... if u make a new application u will need to ask ur uni for a new CAS then only apply again and this might take up to a week's time ...

Oh thanks, I thought 2nd of Sept is included as well. Alright then cause I am from Penang and my Uni actually starts on Monday and I am late now , so I have my flight booked on Monday night , so will have to rush to KL in the morning and hopefully they will update the status in the morning.
Yeah I tot 2nd is included , and I think they are open on the 16th.

check back a few pages, someone confirmed that BHC is closed on 16th, it is announced as National Public Holiday. There is no where any High Com would not follow and respect the holiday, furthermore as stated in the news, the day brings high respects to our east countrymen...

to those waiting for their entrance entry clearance (VISA) .. reading THIS and all u can do is wait patiently ...

QUOTE(limeuu @ Sep 18 2010, 12:41 AM)
so it's immigration (or what they call border control) (not customs lah!), or the uni student health that wants it?........

and what is it precisely that they want?.........it's no point saying they want a medical without specifying what exactly.......contrary to popular belief, you cannot have a 'full medical checkup'.........there is no end to tests that can potentially be done to detect illness........you have to be clear WHICH set of illness you are looking for.....
*
immigration control mostly wans ur xray scan and maybe ur blood test ... the popular belief that u mention about the 'full medical checkup' are the general blood test report, first of all, have u checked with ur nearby hospital? before asking the above? ... most hospitals have a wellness centre which provide different packages on different medical test/checkup ...
if u consult a clinic, they will ask for a form from ur university which states what test/checkup are required, but M'sia is not in the list of medical checkup from UK education institutes so u wont be able to get the form...

ask mr google wat a general blood test consist of ... different hospitals have different packages so it varies but the search should roughly give u an idea ..

not sure if mine got morphine but my hospital package includes the others ... basically, full med checkup are general test uric acid, blood group, cholesterol, test mentioned above, etc etc etc ...

i am fully aware of these popular 'check ups' people are so fond of............but you failed to understand my point.........

it is pointless and a waste of money to do excessive tests 'just in case' the uk border agency wants some of them.....

i am asking what precisely does the border agency and/or the uni student health services want......

it looks like only the chest xray may be needed, on a random basis at immigration control......

i am not aware on any uni having any health requirements, except for health science courses (medicine/dentistry/nursing), these will normally be clearly communicated to intending students......it would be illegal (in the uk) in any other situation for the uni to ask for your hiv status......
*
1st, i did mention that UK institution does not require malaysians to do a medical checkup.
2nd, no one knows wat the border control wants in the medical checkup .. i have searched online, different ppl get checked on different stuff ... if it is stated, everyone will know here rather than take precautions and performing a checkup beforehand.
3rd, not sure r u refering to my post on HiV, but it is just a package checkup provided by the hospital.
4th, xray may be needed and may not be .. it is best bang to get since it just a film and straight flashing it would just get everything right ...

QUOTE(limeuu @ Sep 19 2010, 04:48 PM)
you miss the point......we are talking about official medical requirements for a new student......

knowing your own medical history is another thing altogether....

but never mind......just do what you are comfortable......

it appears that it is established there is no official requirement for a medical check up for new students to uk, unlike for oz.......
*
I rmb i repeated a few times .. UK institutions or rather the country itself does not, i repeat, DOES NOT requires citizen of MALAYSIA to perform or submit any medical checkup/test reports .... IT IS by all means our own necessity to be up-to-date on our health and also as a precaution that some may be in bad luck and get selected to show the reports during immigration part ...
Malaysia is listed as a rather safe country from infectious viruses or bacterias .. that is y, when u r at london, u will be able see some Tourism Malaysia signboards ... which government in the world would encourage their countrymen to visit an infectious country?

btw, i would like to ask, where did u get the point of it is a must for new students to have a medical checkup sweat.gif ... a simple search shows me that most post about medical checkup comes along this word "recommended" ... it seems that u missed our point rather than us, maybe its just my pov .. but ur posts all shows a big skeptical attitude towards this medical thingie...

my question is simple......is there any official requirement or not.....
but people here are saying you need to because you want to know, maybe immigration will want, etc all kinds of reasons.....

that is missing the point......

do it if you think it helps you know your health, not because it is a official requirement by british border agency......

'medical check ups' don't really help, especially in young people, but that is a different issue..........
*
just read through all ur post in this thread ... and now only u state ur question clearly, and kept on saying we r missing ur point ... doh.gif doh.gif

in a way, yes medical checkup doesnt really help esp young adults as most will be healthy and able to take down a or maybe 2 tigers biggrin.gif, but doing a check up at this stage of life let u know where ur health is, most young adults around 80% will be fine, but the 20% will see different results such as borderline cholesterol level, a bad nitric acid level, just to name a few ... since its at borderline, one can start to take health precaution to prevent it from going bad when u reach the age of 35 and above ... start health in the early stage of life to prevent a bad health future, as u should know young adults these days ... LOL

i should add, if british health authority behaves the same way as oz, you medical reports may not be recognised by them, they have panel clinic and hospitals where you must go to for this purpose......as they may not trust msian test results.....eg, bringing a chest xray may not be of any use, they have no way of verifying the film is actually yours......and will want another one done......
*
hmm.gif my xray flim has a bar code on it, and comes attached with a hospital letter head report .. that should able verify i think, but as long as u dont do drugs or get caught on having drugs, most likely u wont encounter the situation u mentioned ... if u act nicely, and do wat is right, British wont be on ur tail catching every single error u did/have ...

QUOTE(N3on @ Sep 19 2010, 05:28 PM)
You do it in malaysia just to make sure you have a smooth entry when comes to the custom... You can choose not to do any medical check up before you leave malaysia, but you'll suffer in the custom if the official asking for your medical report. So in conclusion, just to make sure you have a safe entrance, do the body check up before you leave malaysia..

By the way, i just touched down in Birmingham last two weeks. And the weather is still quite good now.. =D
*
by checking weather forecast, my uni area are getting temps of 13-16C during daylight and below 6C after dusk ... wats the avg temp at ur place, birmingham?

Ur question ....

QUOTE(Balaclava @ Sep 18 2010, 12:05 AM)
limeuu, the medical report is not used in the student visa application. Instead, when the university clinic wants the medical report you know you have it with you rather than spending that unnecessary sum of money.
*
the answer .. doesnt look ambiguous to me ...

i dont get wat u have pointed out .. but since its been settled it doesnt matter anymore .. just do a checkup if u think its worth or just leave it ..

there is a lot of guesswork, but nobody has ever shown any evidence that the university requires a medical examination, other than health sciences courses..........

instead, people say it is useful to do a check up......'just in case'

that is out of point.....

the point is, i think we have established so far......

british border agency does NOT need one......

universities do not request for one.....(other than health sciences, which i know from personal experience)....

therefore, officially, there is no need for one.......that therefore appears to be the answer to my original question....
*
errr, aint it from the start it has all been written "just in case"/"recommended"??

there goes ur assumption, immigration may and may not need so u cant establish that they does NOT need one ... as i repeated myself alot of times, UK institutional or the country itself, form the start till end already does not require citizen of malaysia to submit a medical report prior to arrival. All these were stated clearly above all this posts and yet u made so much assumption and confused so many of us. doh.gif
