Yes, by default it will run on Intel HD. Nvidia will only be use when it needed by applications, for example playing games. Open Nvidia Control Panel, go to View menu & select "Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area". In Program Settings tab, set Windows Media Player to use Nvidia. Play a movie/video. At the same time point your mouse pointer to "red-green" icon at Notification area (at taskbar - right-bottom), click on the icon (not double-click). You'll see Windows Media Player icon under GPU Activity. If you can see it, that means your Nvidia is in use.

CPU-Z can't detect the Nvidia GPU properly. Sometime it detect it (usually while an application use Nvidia) & sometime it don't.

Mr. lee_what2004, I ever read that there will be no blue screen on windows 7 since the OS have their way to prevent blue screen take out when crash occurred between hardware and software. But i got blue screen more than twice on my asus A42JA when i try to make recover CD by using AI recovery burner, any explanation on this?

No, BSOD still can happen on Win 7...
Can you try look at this part and record it when the BSOD happened again ?

or if you are fine with opening the notebook, try to re-sit the ram or try use one of it and see got BSOD or not...

Hi guys...need some help here..

jz got my A42JC last 2 days, found out tat its Nvidia driver only 180.++, so i downloaded the latest version 260.99 at nvidia website. After installed and restart, it will hang at the Windows 7 Welcome page...whereby I jz can see the 'Welcome' word there and it wont go into windows..

I restarted in Safe mode, disabled the Nvidia Geforce 310M driver under Device manager and also uninstalled it.... After tat, I can start Windows normally, but windows automatically installed the Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor for my Geforce 310M.

Now, I wish to install back the Nvidia driver and below are some of my questions:

a) How come i cannot install the latest 260.99 version? does it compatible with my A42JC?
b) If I cannot use 260.99, which version shud i use?
c) Can i use the Optimus technology if i installed version lower than 258.96?
d) Now windows had replace the driver with Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor, how am I goin to install the Nvidia Driver?

258.96 is the best driver.

Optimus driver is incorporated to "regular" Nvidia driver starting from 257.15.

Just install Nvidia driver. It will overwrite the standard vga driver.

If still got BSOD, download and burn Memtest86+ and run it for couple loop to check the ram....
