Came across this video when I was looking for Spain 4 - 0 for Euro 2012 qualifier where Torres bagged two goals.

This video kind of old, I guess many probably viewed it before biggrin.gif

I wonder why we let Gracia go. So far we don't have any good striker as good as him, except Torres. He can just create magic to score goals. We just lack of this kind or players. He did in Juventus, and also the 'ghost' goal as we are so desperate to win. Any chances he might come back to us? Kyut is difference from him, he has his own weapon, while Gracia has his own as well, so doest Torres. They all are like jigsaw puzzle, u need all of them to fit in for a perfect team. So far we are still struggling to find the jigsaw puzzles.
Any full match of this?

I love Luis as much as anyone else but for all the brilliant moments, there were more frustrating ones. He wasn't a brilliant "striker", a you put it though. I think the fact that he's been shipped off to Greece says a lot. Can be brilliant in spurts but by and large, frustrating to watch.

Read about it on the newspaper today, Carra was Everton's fan when he was young and always dreamed to score against Liverpool for Everton. Hence, he fouled and he converted all by himself tongue.gif

He was, but because of the influence of his uncle IRRC and he was really young back then, he even had a scums jersey back then, Bryan Robson I think, when he was totally oblivious to the rivalry between The Reds and the red devils.

His father made him a Liverpool fan after that but he can never convince me that he's a 100% Liverpool fan in heart, those who reads his autobiography I guess should share similar sentiments. smile.gif

Yes, it's widely known that Carra was in fact a boyhood Evertonian, attending games with his dad back in the day. His early affiliation to the bitters, and his preference for long sleeved kits sparked rumours that he was conceiling an Everton tattoo which he promptly dismissed. His switch of allegiance occurred over time as he saw how much joy Evertonians derived from any misfortune befalling Liverpool. He felt that fans should be more focused on their teams success and concern themselves so much over the shortcomings of their rivals. He was also disgusted by the way Everton fans would take it a step above banter, taunting not only the players, but in some cases, their familites. Fortunately for him, his dad who is a hardcore Evertonian, didn't give him much stick when he signed for Liverpool as a schoolboy. In his early days, he was still an Evertonian at heart and would look out for their results. In time however, he began to fall more and more in love with Liverpool. The rest as they say, is history.

After putting Liverpool 2-0 ahead from 12 yards on the stroke of half-time, he fired the ball past debutant Brad Jones as Yakubu prepared to take an Everton spot kick in the second period.

He explained: "I don't score too often, but I actually wanted the first penalty to be for Michael Owen to score - I'd totally forgot people would want me to take it.

"As for the second penalty, I was a big Everton fan as a kid and always wanted to score a goal for them, so I've done that as well now and I was pleased with it."

Carragher himself confirmed that he was an Everton fan..and the penalty was probably setup by him and the ref biggrin.gif

You can see both Brad Jones and the ref smiling all the way. Carra did achieve his childhood dream of scoring for Everton afterall. tongue.gif

Plus I heard that some part of the crowd was boo-ing Owen in the beginning...but after the game progresses the boos slowly disappeared. I still hope the fans forgive him for his decision...and remember all the good things he done for us before. smile.gif

I'm not the one who hold grudges for those players who left the club in a not-so-nice way, like Owen, Masch or even Riera. They've gotten results for us and they have been a good servant for the club when they are in top form. YNWA.

From what I noted, both Everton and Liverpool supporters share a common demographic. In the past, a lot of the economy centred around the docks (hence your reference to "labourers") but currently, there is an even split between white and blue collared folk.

Yes, it's also common knowledge that both clubs are from the same area i.e. Merseyside, hence the rivalry. It isn't uncommon for families to have split loyalties. Both stadiums are indeed a stone's throw away from one another. I reckon one of the reasons we have to move from Anfield and not expand is because some Evertonians live around it and are unwilling to move.

from what i know, the old days many workers from the docks (blue collar worker) supported LFc. (even Robbie fowler had a teeshirt flash supporting them over a dock issue when he scored for Lfc game)

Everton had some big local (supermarket owner & several well heeled families) amongst their fans base & it was seen as more 'white-collar' fan base.
