Cesc Fabregas: I'll be fit for Chelsea showdown

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is confident he will shake off a hamstring injury in time to face Chelsea in an eagerly awaited London derby on October 3.

Cesc Fabregas' closing down gets rewarded with a freak goal - and an injury

Fabregas sustained the injury in a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at the weekend and it was initially thought that he could have been unavailable for up to three weeks.

However, the midfielder is now optimistic that he will be fit to lead his side out at Stamford Bridge in a game that will be a test of both teams' title credentials.

"The injury is not as bad as we first thought," Fabregas told Spanish radio station COPE. "There is no muscle rupture and I will be back perfect in about ten to 11 days.

"I am working with an osteopath in Paris and just working day to day. I think I will make the Chelsea game."

Fabregas is still expected to miss the home game against West Brom on Saturday and the Champions League trip to Partizan Belgrade the following Tuesday.

Wenger signs up six-year-old "New Beckham"

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to sign six-year-old wonderkid Fletcher Toll who has drawn comparisons with former Manchester United and England star David Beckham.

Wenger has swooped for the wonderkid following his recovery from a rare crippling bone disease osteomyelitis which he suffered at the age of 17 months. The disease paralysed his right leg leaving Toll unable to walk while the disease also ate a hole in his hip the size of a 5p piece.

It was feared that doctors would have to amputate Toll’s leg but after a miraculous recovery following treatment the youngster will sign up with the Gunners on a long term contract.

Toll was first spotted when he was four-years-old and the youngster beat 40 000 applicants to join the Arsenal Soccer School. Fletcher trains once a week at the Arsenal school’s base in Spalding, Lincolnshire with ex-professional footballer Mark Angel.

He said: “I see him having an excellent future in the professional game. His dribbling skills are excellent. His free kicks remind me of a young David Beckham.”

Proud Dad Rikki told the Sun: “Arsenal coaches told me he’s the best player they’ve ever seen at this age.”

If really got such player please stamp a mark on his brain with Arsenal DNA first before Barcelona come and claim. Who knows in future they can check your DNA to see whose club logo in the DNA rclxub.gif

Probably since I don't see any news saying he is out or etc.

Our injury list already can built another very competitive team so i think we don't have to built a competitive bench warmer eh?

Fabregas - Arshavin won us the Tottenham tie

While plaudits have rightly come the way of players such as Jack Wilshere, Henri Lansbury and Kieran Gibbs after Tuesday’s resounding win at White Hart Lane, Cesc Fabregas believes the introduction of another star was a vital ingredient in our extra-time success.

“I think Andrey Arshavin made the big difference for us,” he says in his captain’s notes for tomorrow’s Matchday Programme.

“I believe he won us the game when he came on. He played the two passes that led to the two penalties in extra-time, then he scored the last goal himself. He can win a game.”
