Wenger signs up six-year-old "New Beckham"

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to sign six-year-old wonderkid Fletcher Toll who has drawn comparisons with former Manchester United and England star David Beckham.

Wenger has swooped for the wonderkid following his recovery from a rare crippling bone disease osteomyelitis which he suffered at the age of 17 months. The disease paralysed his right leg leaving Toll unable to walk while the disease also ate a hole in his hip the size of a 5p piece.

It was feared that doctors would have to amputate Toll’s leg but after a miraculous recovery following treatment the youngster will sign up with the Gunners on a long term contract.

Toll was first spotted when he was four-years-old and the youngster beat 40 000 applicants to join the Arsenal Soccer School. Fletcher trains once a week at the Arsenal school’s base in Spalding, Lincolnshire with ex-professional footballer Mark Angel.

He said: “I see him having an excellent future in the professional game. His dribbling skills are excellent. His free kicks remind me of a young David Beckham.”

Proud Dad Rikki told the Sun: “Arsenal coaches told me he’s the best player they’ve ever seen at this age.”
