Yah resolution is not that important unless you wanna sit 3ft from your 50" screen.
But the facts of the matter is, the higher quality panels are in FullHD sets and not in 720p/HD-Ready sets.
So if you want the best IQ you're gonna have to get a 1080p set even if you aren't going to fully utilise it.

Having a PS3 alone already answers your question. Get the full HD. But for Astro Beyond, HD Ready is enough. Why don't get both? One for living room and one for bedroom? hehehe

QUOTE(lightastral @ Aug 26 2010, 02:08 PM) cited from cnet - http://reviews.cnet.com/hdtv-resolution/"Although resolution separates HDTV from standard-definition TV, it's not as important to overall picture quality as other factors. According to the Imaging Science Foundation, a group that consults for home-theater manufacturers and trains professional video calibrators, the most important aspect of picture quality is contrast ratio the second most important is color saturation, and the third is color accuracy. Resolution comes in fourth, despite being the most-cited HDTV specification. " This is true if u like high fidelity PQ, not true if u like Samsung type oversaturated but attractive color. That's one of the reason why LCD vs Plasma argument continues on & on.

Definitely Full HD. Most of our sources are gonna be transmitting full HD anyway, so you not gonna fully take advantage of that if your TV only HD ready. Future-proof your purchases now, and you'll be saving in the long run

Sometimes too much detail will also spoil the mood of a movie. IMHO Transformers 2 look too fake when the colour is set too real and in HD. Have to make the colour duller and turn off the HD engine to have the classic movie feel again.
