QUOTE(achilleus @ Aug 21 2010, 12:33 AM) For 42 inch there is not much difference between 1080p and 720p . I'm using a LG plasma pj350r and satisfaktion so far. His link pretty much explains everything. http://reviews.cnet.com/720p-vs-1080p-hdtv..._content;rb_mtx Plasma generally have better colour than LCD too unless you buy more expensive models, if you have friends using LCD try to test it in a dark room and the black area is grayish. However Plasma do tend to use more electricity than LCD. But for me, anything above 42" I'll get Full HD cuz that's where the difference begins to become obvious. |

I've been there too, and after researching for quiet a bit googling on LCD vs Plasma, and a lot of electrical shop visit here is what I learn.
i ) 720p = HD Ready, 1080p = Full HD. ii) If less than 50 inch , 720p is suffice, save you hundreds of bucks too. sauce : http://reviews.cnet.com/720p-vs-1080p-hdtv..._content;rb_mtx iii) Plasma is better in term of colour vs price. A more expensive LCD TV will match contrast ratio/ color vividness of Plasma however cheaper LCD(same price with Plasma with same size) will have grayish black area, esp when viewing in dark room. iv)Full HD is good if you plan to use the TV as a PC monitor, the fonts will be more clearer. For Xbox and PS3 720p suffice as most of the wording in larger font. Its best if you go to shop and check out urself, make sure the video sauce is highest quality and compare the two models. 720p vs 1080p aside Check out the features too, e.g how many connector, if you have PS3 , XBox360 and a PC connected to it, you might want to check how many HDMI and other connector port available. Sidenote: LED is damn awesome.. too bad its a bit too expensive, waiting for it to drop in 3k-4k range. |

Go to Neo pdp v20 plasma, it's really good for all use like Tv channel, gaming, and movies.
I got it last mth. It's really the nicer tv i never saw b4. All what LCD, or LED or others chips of plasma except pioneer Kuro, can stay away. Good in motion, colour, picture quality all good.1 word good!!! This post has been edited by yim1981: Aug 22 2010, 04:16 AM |

if u have unlimited money..go for full hd
if u wanna save money..just get hd ready seriously u wont notice or realise much difference since ur not gonna have both panel side to side (for me at least..cant say for the rest) for me even hd ready is enough already it depends on how far ur tv is from u as well and also are u willing to spend XXX amount for bd movies but one thing i do believe tho...i think sony has a better non reflective screen its really annoying to watch movies in the morning with reflective screen lol |

QUOTE(johnny82 @ Aug 24 2010, 11:37 AM) if u have unlimited money..go for full hd Cheers "Johnny comes lately" for the fun of the day. Even you do not have unlimited money, still go for FHD. Why settle for less and regret later? if u wanna save money..just get hd ready Even you want to save money, still go for FHD (easy payment will take care of it) seriously u wont notice or realise much difference since ur not gonna have both panel side to side (for me at least..cant say for the rest) Disagree. When watch Bluray movies, you'll be able to tell, especially background scenes / objects more vibrant. for me even hd ready is enough already Well, once you are on HD, switching cost can be high. I understand. it depends on how far ur tv is from u as well HD / FHD has nothing to do with viewing distant; it has to do with pixels; However, there is correlation between TV size and viewing distance. and also are u willing to spend XXX amount for bd movies Unless you are champion of Originals other wise, Uncle Ho will provide altenatives but one thing i do believe tho...i think sony has a better non reflective screen That is call brand loyalty or preference. Sony no longer produce Plasma and they do not even have reflective screen. its really annoying to watch movies in the morning with reflective screen lol If you are annoyed by reflective screen, any time you watch you will be annoyed. |

QUOTE(camrycilver @ Aug 24 2010, 02:43 PM) lol... just pasang those mosquito repellent then! btw guys , either then hd ready or full hd there are like other fuctions that should be considered, as i just "awaken" by a very helpful lcd salesman. its call "motion interpolation" have u ever heard of those branding/funtion on certain set like sony's motion flow 200hz, philips's hd natural motion n so forth.. it seriously change the way i look for lcd/led now, the smoothness on bluray make it totally different experience. maybe u guys should check out, next time u go to telly shops that is |

I still prefer plasma for better color reproduction compared to LCD.
Btw, I recall someone actually did the maths to dispel the issue of plasma's higher electricity consumption compared to LCD. The result was one where the difference is something like under RM100 a YEAR for a typical home user scenario |

Although it's based on US model & price, power consumption is more or less same with comparable asia model. Their rate is based on USD 0.1155/kWh. As a comparison, our rate is RM 0.218/kWh for the first 200 kWh & RM 0.334 for the next 200 kWh. http://reviews.cnet.com/green-tech/tv-consumption-chart/ |
