e-jump, I find 135mm slightly long and DOF a bit somewhat difficult to handle... most had said the 135CZ is the better portrait prime, but I think the 85CZ did just as well. Just ask lwliam, as he had tried the 85mm CZ first hand....

QUOTE(zstan @ Aug 25 2010, 12:08 AM) Yes. This lens had been known as a cracker of a lens when it was first launched together with the A200. Wow... what a long time ago... and look at how far the alpha line had progressed now. 3 distinct line of cameras (alpha dslr, alpha NEX and now, alpha DSLT). |

Difficult to explain phase detect AF & contrast AF difference. This link may help:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autofocus With contrast AF, the camera basically has to hunt and continuously compare contrast to get the best focus. That is why you will see the AF goes from blur to sharp, then become blur again, before finally become sharp and nailing the focus (this is when you hear the focus confirmation beep). This is most obvious in PnS cameras and handphone cameras. However, with phase detect AF, the AF module can know instantly if the subject is in front or behind the current focus point. It will also know HOW FAR away is the subject from the focus point. This gives the camera added information and enables it to quickly nail the focus. For moving subject, the AF module can even tell how fast the image is going out of phase, and in which direction (going back or going front) hence can predict the focus point. |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Aug 25 2010, 09:47 PM) it's not becomes translucent but it's translucent all the time. That's why no mechanical shutter sound. Btw... Can the fake shutter sound be turned off??? The A55 have a mechanical shutter. Look at the videos carefully and you will notice that there is actually shutter movement in the mirror box. The limit of how fast a camera can shoot photos (i.e. the fps) is governed more by the flipping mirror rather than the shutter. So if the mirror no longer flips, then the maximum fps can be increased more easily.btw, do yo know that the Minolta Dynx 9xi has a maximum shutter speed of 1/12000s? don't believe me? check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minolta_9xi This is a FILM-era camera, but it has a state-of-the-art carbon reinforced shutter blades to achieve the amazing shutter speed, unmatched even to this day in a consumer grade dslr. |

QUOTE(wingster @ Aug 26 2010, 10:17 AM) No shutter speed and aperture to adjust (like what we do on aperture/manual/shutter mode) i think sony will go bankrupt real quick if they give full manual control in video mode on an entry / mid level camera like these.... so certain creative effect will be limited like slow shutter can deliver some motion blur effects and aperture obviously can be easy control the DoF field and brightness which what some semi-pro videocam does |

yeah, i had seen photos of the shutter mechanism of the 9xi too.... but I just don't know where I had seen them. Not the photos you had just posted though. I think I saw it in an old camera magazine or something.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the noise performance since they are using the new EXMOR HD sensors which are supposed to have better noise performance anyway. You win some, you lose some....
