SERIOUSLY FML......

RM220... A lesson learnt... But painful one as a student... I worked hard for 2 months during this holiday only to earn half of the cost n my parents subsidizing the other half.. It's like too much for me...

Anyways, just saw the same filter in eBay it's less than rm40 each....

I texted the seller and told him about the overpriced filter as well...

And it's no wonder that he never put the breakdown and put the full amount in the receipt....

Hopefully, (but I doubt) some compensation can be done... If not, I will seriously tell everyone to avoid this shop in the forum..... This shop has quite a popular thread in Garage sales somemore....

Any advices on how to handle the NEX battery?

The seller told me first time charge 4-6 hours is enough, no need overnight... Then after that charge 2hours already can get to full already..

ok, thx~ i'll observed it after few discharging and charging..
BTW i bought the NEX-3D at RM 2409 with 8 GB sony memory card (MS-HX8A), FOC a small simple bag, and a cleaning cloth, the seller promote me a vitacon uv filter for RM50 and I bought it too so total is RM2459, is it a reasonable price? thx
*
Well, my camera was slightly cheaper than you, no bag though... But I was conned into getting 2 vitacon uv filter each for rm110.. means rm220 for 2.... Haiz.. and it just happened yesterday... NEX-3D prices are around there these days because of stock shortage...

the price not same?

That is an offer from Sony themselves, of course price not same, RRP Price ler...

Now left very few sellers got leftover stock for Twin Lens... The last time I checked with Zaloon, he still has 5-6 NEX-3 with Twin Lens left and Silver colour.... Apparently Sony doesn't wanna sell Twin Lens anymore because Revenue margin is smaller... So places u see out of stock now, won't have new stock coming in anytime soon la...

Mofo.. I am so pissed at the shop I bought the NEX from... Because mine didn't have the rear lens cap for my second lens, the seller ordered one for me which is gonna take 1 week.. So ask me take a temporary cap from him.. So today I went, his other colleague was there was told to pass me a stupid plastic cap.. So I was like telling how can u count me so expensive for the uv filter which was like 3 times more expensive than normal.. Then he was like, 'this is normal lengzai, this is how business is, when you come out do business yourself you'll understand', I was so fking pissed.. Is this the way all the sellers treat their customers?

Firstly I guess it's my own fault for not doing any research for uv filters cause I never thought that I would need one.. Actually now I think back I dun really need it also.. I would choose the cheaper option most of the time since I always do my research before buying something.. Just that the seller is quite sneaky as well and a lot of things he did made me buy that overpriced filter.. He seemed all nice and really helpful which made lower my defense.. Besides, it's quite a reputable shop in garage sales that's why I never thought they're like that also!.. I choose not to defame the shop because I know a lot of shops do this as well.. Who wanna know which shop is it just Pm and ask me..

I am just feeling a bit unhappy because I am only a student and I worked full time the past 2 months just to earn half the budget for the camera.. The money conned is already more than a quarter of my monthy salary..

Another thing I have a lot of doubts is because the camera wasn't even sealed when I went there.. And before that when asking about stock, at first say no stock then suddenly got stock... Besides that, the missing rear lens cap really add up and make everything looked like a big scam...

QUOTE(kysham @ Sep 8 2010, 11:01 PM)
It is not uncommon for merchants to "swap" stock. for all we know, your online merchant may not have his own stock or his own brick & mortar shop. he may be taking stock from a normal camera shop, earning a few bucks by passing the stock to you. this is a common practice among merchants (me included). it is also not uncommon to have a broken seal camera box, because he may had to open the box to see if everything is inside or not. Or maybe he had opened the box for another buyer to see, but last minute, the buyer said dun want to buy (hey, not surprising but it happens...).

However, it is unethical not have explained why the seal was broken beforehand (he could had told you he opened it earlier to check), and it is even more unethical to sell you overpriced filters to cover his cost and said "that's the way business goes". to me, that is pure bullsh!t.  shakehead.gif

So i guess it is a lesson well learnt for you, Eugene. Do your research right. Know what you need to buy and what you don't need to buy. I remember a couple years back, this thread is full of advises on what to do when confronting sales person in a camera shop. One of the most repeated advise is to survey the price for the cheapest camera equipment and buy ONLY the camera equipment you intend to get. do not get the accessories because they are going to jack up the price to cover their reduced margin from selling you the camera equipment cheaper. It is an age-old trick which seems to work, every time. unfortunately, it is you this time......  sweat.gif

Oh dude, noticed your profile lol.. I am actually from KK as well... The seller said it takes 1 week for the rear lens cap to arrive, but I am already going back KK this weekend.... So he said he can courier to my KK address... I hope he really does it la... The temporary 'cap' he gave me doesn't fit the lens at all... Now I am in such a dilemma on how to bring my camera out for usage..... Can only bring out 1 lens while have to pack the other one nicely in the box...

Anyways, got a Tripod today for rm50.. I hope I didn't get conned this time.... I wanted to get a cheap one but sturdy enough for NEX-3 with 1855... The one i bought looks good enough to do the job also, the guy demonstrated it with a NEX-3...

is the tripod those light weight aluminium with 3 extendable leg sections? it will work well with your NEX, but 50 bucks is not to say standard price either. oh well, what's done is done... go out and shoot more ya smile.gif

yup, quite lightweight around 795g.. Seriously i suck at buying stuffs lol... But I am fine with this one since it couldn't be much cheaper anyways... And I think it's stable enough for the NEX also...

Yea, I wanna take pics of KLCC night time before I go back KK/UK! It's so pretty at night~!

Guys, a noob question here.. The NEX battery can overcharge or not? I think the seller gave the wrong advice again.. he said 2 hours can fully charge but the book say need 250 minutes = 4hours +.... I plan to charge overnight, is that ok?

should not be a problem. the battery & the charger should be smart enough to stop charging once the battery is full. sony make smart batteries. you will be surprised that even some of the nikon dslr uses batteries manufactured by sony.  laugh.gif

Oo Thanks!

Hmm , will try. But under low light condition very hard to get focus. Even switch to MF the zoom assist is useless under low light cause too much noise...

Oh, if you're not using a tripod... I think the Twilight mode would be the best choice la...

Hi, was wondering if the normal SDHC card would be sufficient for NEX-3? Planning to get extra memory card cause the default 8gb seems not enough... Or do I need to get ultra or extreme?
