finally 2.2 update for desire is out...but now i'm deciding whether to update or not...

i mean i considering to get  rooting, not for custom ROM (kinda tired of flashing custom ROM honestly, back to the days when i was using Touch HD) but for the A2SD+ feature...i know 2.2 support A2SD but it require developer to enable that as well and widget cant be put into the microSD...i do hope that someone will be able to hack and make root for the new hboot...

Rooting for new hboot is juz a question of time...

Ok guys, I decided to update through OTA as I am not going to root my phone anytime soon. Here are some information that being asked:

  • Yes you can download the update first and install at a later date.
  • Battery life? Can't give you an answer right now. Let me test it 1st.
  • Download, update and install process takes about 30 minutes.
  • Software Info:
    Build number = 2.13.707.1 CL233262 release-keys
    Software number = 2.13.707.1
    Baseband version = 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30
  • HBOOT is confirmed at 0.93

*
Adding to this info above:
1) Wifi always on full bar. Previously very seldom see full bar
2) Quadrant scores 1307, 1322, 1296
3) Significantly faster than 2.1. No more lag when scrolling All Programs list
4) Finally can play facebook video
5) Flash games like Zyngapoker, Barnbuddy were loaded completely and successfully! Also tested loading a flash game at miniclip.com successfully without any hitch!

For those already updated and feel like sharing the ROM with us. Please do so.

I have the update, I want to tar it.

1) Install Android SDK or simply adb
2) Download busybox for Android
3) Launch Windows console (cmd) and go to the directory where busybox is with the "cd path/to/the/file" command.
4) "adb devices" <- Is your device detected ? If not, install HTC Sync // Of course, before you have to plug your device in... (Sync mode I guess)
5) "adb push busybox /data/local/busybox
6) "adb shell"
7) "cd /sdcard/"
8) "chmod 755 /data/local/busybox" (something like that)
9) "/data/local/busybox tar cvf dump.tar /system"
10) When it's finished, you will have a normal error like 'tar: error exit delayed from previous errors'.
11) Compress it and then upload it. Feel like a rock star.

Much appreciated  notworthy.gif

Guys, Need some advise,

After I update online with froyo, How can I move app to SD??
Need to use third party software??

Thanks,
*
Goto Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> then click on those installed programs
If "Move to SD card" button is enabled then click it to move it to SD card

Not all applications supports A2SD though.

human nature....  laugh.gif

when I first got my Treo 600 few years ago, I am so excited even before I received it on hand (i got thru Spore forum and need to wait for 1 week to deal COD) becoz I was using a palm device without phone function for some time and I need to carry 2 devices PDA and phone.  Treo 600 was the first smartphone I used.  Then I upgraded to Treo 680 which its screen resolution is far more better than Treo 600.  I was quite excited for some time too.  But like you, as times go by, I only use the smartphone more like a normal phone.

For me, HTC Desire is a huge leap from Treo 680 for hardware and software, especially after rooting and flashing custom rom.  I think the excitement will wear out fast for Desire too.  But having a smartphone with some interesting games will sure making your waiting time at the airport lounge more enjoyable or any other occasion when you have nothing better to do, especially one with wi-fi like Desire.  thumbup.gif
*
I've owned a few brands of PDA but once started using HTC, I've sticked with it.
I also remembered how excited I was when using GPS for the 1st time couple of years back.
From WM6.5 to Android is a huge leap. WM6.5 was so damn slow and lagging no matter what ROM you put in.
The excitement surely will wear off. I was a Legend owner 4months back but on seeing Desire I was tempted to sell Legend and get Desire.
When I finally got my Desire, the first thought, 'How long will this last me???' I hope at least 2 years this time!

Yupe, Android games are really a boredom killer! I play it even in the plane to let time fly without me noticing it

I don't come across any RUU for SLCD.
And yes, you can try the latest SEA RUU.
*
What is the latest SEA RUU? Do you mean latest Froyo RUU?
Not in shipped-roms

Do you know what is the app the official froyo use to view FB video?

Added on September 3, 2010, 6:18 pm
Use MyBackup from Market.
*
Sorry, videos uploaded to facebook will play in the Internet browser.
So, from Facebook app, it will open a separate browser to play the video.
I guess it could be flash in action.

The last time I click on a video, it could have been a youtube video posted into fb.
Clicking on youtube video from fb will prompt you to open in Internet browser or Youtube player.

Juz rooted and flashed AuraxTSense_7.6.
For those new Desire owners (SLCD with HBOOT 0.93), rooting is now a breeze thanks to new unrEVOked 3.2

I used unrEVOked 3.21 Release Candidates from http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=unrevokedtest. Find the download link at the top of the IRC chat
It comes with latest clockworkmod recovery but I loaded AmonRa for SLCD (from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4481275/recovery-R...0.1-R5-SLCD.img for partitioning larger ext4

If you already do a full wipe b4 flashing rom, then the rom is bloated and laggy.

Official RUU for SIS set should be this.

However, no point flashing RUU as AP set is not warrant by SIS.

Any AuraXTSense users here? DUring incoming call there's some red and green lines that makes the UI look rather untidy, is that a bug or working as designed?
*
Where are the lines? I din noticed the lines though.

i find that the root and flash to AuraxTSense + latest radio + calibrate the battery will be the best option for you.  My usage patent also similar to samurai and decapix, just that i dun have 3G but my wifi is almost constantly on during the day at home/office.  My desire can last for 2 days, if heavy playing some games, battery life will shorten for half a day maybe.  But i think the worst battery sucker is the GPS, using GPS software like Papago really drain the battery super fast, thus i keep a usb car charger handy.
*
Cynox, my usage patent also same as yours, no 3G at all but home & office will use Wifi. Quite heavy gaming. Battery life lasted on average 2 days. GPS ar, no way we can survive without a car charger. Sometimes I really missed the normal size USB port when one can find the normal USB cable almost anywhere especially in office. When I forgot to take the mini USB cable & battery is getting low, I really have to limit on my Wifi or gaming.

My record battery life is well over 4 days when I purposely tested my Desire with minimal Wifi, fb & gaming. Juz calls & sms.

Anyways, my batt last 3 days actly with minor sms..

2 days with calls and sms.

Games, 3G and photo, 1 day 1/2
*
If Desire HD battery life can last 3 days (with heavy gaming+wifi+browsing), existing Desire owners will be tempted lor

that's my original intention.. sorry, still abit new to the technical jargons. still, would it void my ap warranty? but wouldn't the generic ruu get me the updates too? or is the official ruu much more advisable?
*
Check you warranty conditions with your AP set dealer. I think it should be more relaxed than SIS warranty.
You can check ur Software Information and try to get the exact build number from shipped-roms.
Once you find the RUU, you can revert back to original in case of claiming warranty.

Official RUU or custom ROMS are all up to you to decide. If you require more customization, then of coz go for root+custom roms.

You can challenge that policy in Consumer Tribunal as it is unfair.
Rooting will not break the hardware.

Hi guys,

I have searched almost everywhere for a standalone installer for HTC_CIME for our Desire but only managed to find some buggy installers or one made for Hero.

Extracted CNSoftKeyboard.apk from original Froyo but did not work in custom ROMs.

Any rooted users who can help me find a working HTC_CIME?
