there are few type of 4g93 / gsr.  mine was of gsrt ck or dohc 4g93t with mivec head and custom made parts to accommodate the aggressive head.
spare parts was plenty.  dyno result shows a lousy 270bhp on flywheel to protect the almost stock tiptronic gearbox.
i could say the reliability is about the same with 4g18p. a few friend had been using 4g93t on their waja for 5 years without any problem; provided that due care was practiced.
normal driving style with 'kepishh!' overtaking sound  brows.gif  return about 8.41km/l or 0.24/km using bhp and caltex ron97. just stay away from the lousy shell's v-power 97 for spirited driving.
perhaps, you could go for dohc 4g93t and just de-tuned it by removing the turbo and use proper piggyback management.
*
so to say if i get myself a 4g93 sohc.. what dohc head can be couple on the sohc head? as 4g18 can fit 4g15 dohc head like the dohc package..

most of the 4g93 halfcut in the market are those of 4g93 dohc turbo with few manual gearbox.
swapping head isn't a problem. but converting from sohc to dohc need more than 1k, which is why the dohc version is still a viable buy.
*
yup.. already browse for awhile.. and the price range of 4g93 dohc extra of 2 or 3k from the sohc.. and being doing some research on having a wider range of modding with dohc.. will see how.. is just that.. either going for turbo or mivec now.. hmmm.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

QUOTE(yngwie @ Oct 26 2010, 06:59 PM)
there is no mivec 1.8 halfcut yet. only comes in new mitsu car.
there is no replacement for displacement. and less worry when running on factory fitted turbo engine  brows.gif .
chances are you could go for 4g93t sooner cuz' government might impose a stricter law on halfcut import.
i am experimenting with 4g93t with mivec head btw. so far so good after installing the custom made fuel rail. make sure to choose the correct turbine for minimal turbo lag.
*
yup very aware of mivec now only can get for 4g92 1.6.. so does the mivec functions usable with the using the head? as i know 49g3t is already a dohc engine.. yup pretty much of the government being more n more harsh on the import stuff again.. btw thinking of letting go my current rims.. if anything will post here 1st.. brows.gif

btw, too bad your wheels was of 17". my main ride already on 17" and waja is currently on 16" cheap taiwan gp wheels.
17" on stock waja engine kill the acceleration.
then again, its all down to individual preference.
*
yup.. it does.. that where the performance upgrade needed.. and the new set of wheels i'm targeting are even heavier doh.gif doh.gif .. thats why i planning to get the new rims fix and test out for awhile and keeping the current rims.. and if the performance and FC is gonna dig even bigger hole in my pockets with the new rims.. i'll change back to the current rim and sells back the new one.. my current 17" is 6.5kg++.. so its consider quite lite than those taiwan rims..

4g93t is the answer  brows.gif
at 6.5++kg,  your 17" is a lightweight wheels.  it was the tire diameter / wider contact that caused the slight increase in fc. any decrease in braking performance when carrying a heavy load?
was playing around with a few chips until i tested the unichip with gsrt ecu piggyback. the aggressive mivec top doesn't works well on single rail fuel feed. hence the custom made one. once the mivec feeding settled, it was easier on the piggyback. doesn't really open up like a complete mivec setup but at least, minimal intermittent.
*
yup.. having a wider tyre diameter does have effect on FC.. my left front i think bocor beyond tampal.. so thinking of changing so wanna try 205/45/r17.. might wanna go for falken ziex.. and yes heavier load does decrease alot in braking.. that 6 people in the car.. i don't even go over 70km/h.. can really fell the worst braking performance.. twin-pot otw huhu.. donno when can fix to the car..
for 4g93t.. have to wait for awhile.. huhu

currently out of budget to further mod my waja.
just spend a fortune on a 1jz-gte setup on main ride  sweat.gif
look like i may let go off my old 16" gp wheels for extra funding.
falken 912 tread wear rate sux  tongue.gif
but at least quieter than gsd3.
twin pot is the answer. that's the main reason i upgraded to twin pot front and gsr rear last time. was carrying 3 fat relatives from kampar to kl. 1st time braking i almost hit the car in front. car did not stop a normal braking style... and they warn me not to play around when in fact it was the lousy brake.
*
today go search for tyre.. and can't seems to get the series i wanted.. actually 205/45/r17 not within my budget.. but bought 215/45/r17 azenis instead..
