Look on the bright side, at least this way we won't be hitting the shit like over in the US. Most probably they will do like S'pore and limit the CL to say max of 3 times your salary etc. Overall, I would say its a good measure, unlike the stupid RM50 tax which serves no purpose but to enrich some cronies  rclxms.gif

Wow ! They are so keen to create yet another world's first eh ? Not even Communist China has such ABSURD policy in place (tax on credit card). Way to go Malaysia ! Malaysia Boleh indeed.
*
Actually if I am the Finance Minister, I would take some actions to clamp down on Credit Limit given to individuals and also ban banks from calling up customers offering personal loans. Look at the amount of debt from CC and Personal Loan as of July 2010, it is more than RM50 billion. This kind of unsecured and easy credit is not good as it encourage people to spend more than they can afford.

Just look at the threads in this section, people having debts wanting to apply more cards or purchase new car or taking personal loans to pay for CC debt. And I guess if no measures are taken soon, yah, we would be like USA in no time.

I'm thinking getting another card which will replace my current card that I'm using, which is the Citibank Clear Card. I have been collecting those darn points  for 6 years and I can't seem to be seeing anything good in the rewards redemption page. I think I'll try to threaten the CS officer again to give me back my 10k points, hmm...
*
Me too got Citibank Clear Card, I use my points for free coffee at Coffee Bean.

QUOTE(wongpeter @ Sep 8 2010, 03:21 PM)
I just received the redemption letter for the iPod Shuffle from Standard Chartered and guess what? They got my name wrong! A JCMS ProRewards Sdn Bhd sticker was on the back of the envelope so I immediately called them up and was told that 'there was something wrong with the system' which resulted in this booboo and that the correct Letter of Redemption would be sent out after the Raya holidays. As the letter is on StanCharts letterhead I am thinking the cockup is StanCharts fault. I once had the unpleasant experience of dealing with SCs' customer service when I tried to register for online banking where we were supposed to wait for the authorization code by sms. The sms never came so I called up SC cs and they asked if my h/phone no was correct. I said yes and was told it needs 3 days to update the system. 3 days later I tried registering again and again the sms never arrived. Called up cs and the chap asked to re-confirm my tel no. I told him my tel no. and he said he will expedite ( his exact word!) the process for me. I was thinking wow! here's a chap who is really helpful and then he said ....it will take 3 days to update the system. What a blardy moron! He obviously doesn't understand the meaning of the word expedite. About a week later I tried registering online once more and again the sms never arrived. Called up cs and this time a gal answered. She asked if xxx-xxx xxxx was my tel no. I was fuming. After re-confirming my tel no. they finally succeeded in getting my no. wrong! And then after giving her a piece of my mind I waited another 3 days and finally succeeded in registering online.

If anyone from StanChart reads this pls realize your bank has got a bunch of idiots in the customer service dept. The chap who got my no. wrong after I had told him the correct no. goes by the name of 'G' or 'Ji' or Gerard if I am not mistaken. He should have his services terminated for gross incompetence.
*
Email above to SCB (and maybe omit that they have a bunch of idiots there tongue.gif ) and I'm sure you'll get a response from them.

If I'm dissatisfied with Alliance service, I would email them and next day sure got somebody calling me to attend to my matters.

QUOTE(travelyew @ Sep 8 2010, 06:15 PM)
Agree!
My application was rejected, i call the agent yesterday, she promised to call me back.
But i didn't receive any call until now.
2day i called 4 times, but she didn't pickup the phone at all...
*
Can you please clarify what you meant by agent? If you had faxed the application to them, the application would go direct to the appropriate department.

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Sep 8 2010, 05:11 PM)
For those getting the Alliance bank card may want to hear this. Their CS do not work 24/7 so if you have problem outside of working hours, good luck to you.
*
Yah, Alliance do not offer 24/7 CS even though they claim they do for their Plat Cards. Late in the night, the CS is only good for reporting lost card. Cannot do redemption or answer your queries. Write them an email on your complain and sure got people calling you to apologize. Actually. Alliance Bank complain department is pretty good, I would get a first call from them after I email and then a second call from another person to check if the first caller called me.

Do bear in mind that the cash back is only given to grocery and petrol purchases done during weekends. Besides, there is a maximum cash back poll of RM150,000 per month.
*
RM150,000 is not much, assuming everybody spends RM1000 for petrol and groceries, only 750 people will get the cash back of RM200. I am sure a lot of AMBANK customers will be furious when they get their statement and get nothing.

It's like HSBC cash back where there is a max amount paid out.

Dislike this kind of promotion as it is not guaranteed.

Picked up my OCBC Titanium today and started using it and already maxed up the RM20 cash rebate for the 1% portion.

How much you expect? CL is based on CCRIS report I would presume. They gave me higher than my Citibank Clear Card which is at max CL and same as my lowest Plat Card CL.

No, it's only capped at RM80 per customer per month. RM30 for petrol, RM50 for groceries. So, it will be either RM80 rebate for 4 months using Ti card (guaranteed) or RM320 rebate (4 months) for using Am card (not guaranteed, only points are guaranteed). But I would think if you use Am card and spend it in the early of the month, you will most probably get it. At other times, you can use the Ti card. So far I do get the rebates for the previous statements even on the last weekend of the month I spent it but that time the T&C is different.
*
OIC, my bad. What is Ti? Any link to show that the cash back is gauranteed for Ti?

I just use the short form, it's your OCBC Titanium card.
*
hahaha, I thought Ti was some card issued by AMBank.

But now I blur with your previous post. OCBC Cash Back Rebate up to December 2010 (4 months) is RM120 max per month until end of year i.e. RM100 for 5% transaction for petrol, groceries, dining and utilities + RM20 for 1% cash rebate for all other types of transactions.

Therefore, OCBC Titanium is better comparing it to AMBank.

QUOTE(ck3lam @ Sep 10 2010, 01:51 AM)
Yes, the cashback is RM120 but don't forget you are going to spend 2k for petrol, groceries, dining and utilities + another 2k for others to achieve that target.

What I'm trying to point out is through combination, you can get more rebates.
Spending Am card RM400 and Ti card RM1.6k can get RM160 rebate instead of just RM100. But if you are spending that much, maybe RM60 doesn't mean anything. But it's more than enough to cover 1 year GST charges. For 4 months, you will get extra RM240-RM50 = RM190 + 1600 points.

Ok, if one is really that unlucky to get a single rebate for 4 months, he will lost RM80 rebate since he didn't use Ti card. But he will still get 1600 points which will be equals to RM8. Well, depends on how you judge it. RM80 guarantee or RM320+RM8?

Actually not just Ambank, other banks like Public and HSBC have also their own cashback promotions. If you have those cards, you can get even more rebates by spending less. SCB card also has great cashback during signup, the guarantee gift promotion is just over. This bank seems to have a lot of great promotions this year. Waiting for its next promotion.

Of course for non-Promotion periods or most of the transactions, Ti card is so far the best rebate card.

Comparing so many cashback cards, the citi cashback doesn't seem to be that attractive anymore, unless u buy stuff in G-dian/W-sons.
*
OK now I get it. Slow lah I. To get RM80 rebate, AMBank only need RM400 whereas OCBC Titanium need to spend RM1600. Yah in this case, AMBank offer way better than OCBC not considering the max monthly pay out by AMBank.

To my understanding, AMBank does capped the rebate at RM80 right? So for my case where I do spend a lot for petrol and cannot wait till end of the week, OCBC is more beneficial and I will be getting RM120 cash back instead of RM80.

As for HSBC, I gave up on theirr promotions after I didn't get the samsonite bag last year.

Yes you are right for OCBC Titanium, When I doing the table thought about it and since Citibank don't give special rebate for utilities omitted the utilities portion and just stated Phone Bills.

Yes, the RM50 is imposed immediately. When I activated the card the CS mentioned my available CL I was like blur until I realised it had deducted the RM50 tax. My maths bad without calculator, haha.

SCB CC had rebate me RM88, then RM50 had paid for GST
I still got RM38 for free.

However, i am not satisfy with the credit limit which RM4k
Besides, i do not want to hold many cc.

The purpose i hold SCB , it is because want to apply CL 10k
Then i can cancel the other bank cc , which each card limit is rm5k

Then i can save 2 cc GST, and 2 cc annual fees

However now fail, i wish to cancel scb.
is it a good way? or got other solutions?
*
As you mentioned, you got RM38 credit from SCB with your new card. so you actually gain as far the government tax is concerned. Might as well keep it for a year.

As for saving RM50 tax from AMBank and EON Bank, call both banks and see if they willing to absorb the RM50, tell them you are considering to terminate the card if they say got no incentive/program . If both banks willing to absorb the RM50, then you loose nothing. If both do not want to absord the RM50 tax, change to HLB.

Anyone here scolded the call centre agent before? Do you get angry when they are getting annoying? They have all your info on their system from ID to home address. Do you afraid they will do something to you if you scolded them?
*
why want to scold people? We gain nothing from it. And can you like give an example how they can be annoying. Basically, if you unhappy with a particular person, just email your complain to the bank and actions will be taken.

Secondly, if there is a crook in the bank, you scold or don't scold also they will steal the info from the system.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Sep 13 2010, 11:38 AM)
Do you think we can get the RM50 GST waive if we spend RM10,000 before 31 Dec 2010 ? or Does the spending of RM10k is only valide for next year's GST ?
*
All banks are to imposed the RM50 tax upfront. So if you spend RM10K before 31 Dec or before your anniversary date you still get the tax absorb by OCBC next year only.

QUOTE(de.crystal @ Sep 13 2010, 12:26 PM)
mind sharing why? as i still think citibank cash back plat is better.
*
Citibank cash back plat is not better than OCBC unless you spend a lot monthly can get more than RM50 cash back a month. Actually, the 0.3% cash back for non petrol, groceries, phone bills is worst off than other normal cards with points where you get about equivalent of 0.5%.

Having said that, one should still get OCBC even-though he/she has Citibank Cash Back Plat. Once hit OCBC RM50 max capped rebate, switch to Citibank cash back.

For your easy reference, attached here again the table for your reading and you may also click on my signature for further info on OCBC Cash back and Citibank Cashback.

Besides writing to OCBC seeking clarification why your application was rejected, I suggest you go BNM to print out your CCRIS report and see if there is any detrimental item in the report.

Guys I have two questions, hope someone can clarify for me...

1) Is it considered a wrong move to make payment early? Like I make payment immediately on the day the statement come out. Cos credit card is mean to enjoy interest free period right? But what if I make payment early? Will they think I am wasting their time?

2) Can the statement/cut off date be changed? Because currently its not really a nice date for me to settle the bill  sad.gif
*
1) once there was someone here that mentioned that he pays the next day after he use the card rclxub.gif No lah, nothing wrong to pay earlier.

2) Call CS and ask.

Hi guys, currently holding Citibank gold shell card and I got call from Citibank officer which offering Citibank Platinum Cash Back Card and they mention as following:

(1) Citi Gold Shell Card - 2.5% rebate on shell, 1.5% rebate on other
(2) Citi Plat Cash Back Card - 5% rebate on petrol (Limit up to RM600/mth), 2% on grocery, pharma, phone bill, 0.5% on others.

I used to swipe this card on petrol purpose but my usage per month is about RM800++ average. Can't fully utilize the benefit of having Citi Plat Cash Back Card. Any card better than those?
*
Since your Shell card only gives you 2.5% rebate, if purely for petrol then better to get the Citi Plat Cash Back that gives you 5%.

Does the Shell card really gives you 1.5% cash rebate for other transactions? That rate is not too bad. Is there a monthly cash reabate cap for the Shell Card?

Any other card, click on my signature below - comparison of cash back card.

I understand that overseas transaction will have about 1% admin fees. Thanks. I have CIMB Master, Citi Plat Cash Back and Maybank Petronas. Thanks.
*
To save you company money you should use MBB Petronas since the admin rate is the lowest for overseas.

Forget about using Citi Plat Cash Back as you be only getting 0.3% cash rebate. Check if you CIMB Master gives you 2X reward points for overseas spending, CIMB World MC does.

Is it legal?
If we face this situation again, we should phone to bank to complaint or the shop management?

This is news to me, I have bought many stuffs from Harvey Norman and never once had to pay any surchage for using CC or AMEX. Actually, last year I bought a RM3K+ notebook for my son using AMEX and got RM100 discount because I did not opt for the 0% interest installement scheme.

Means the department concerned have received your application and they are looking into it. Give them 5 to 7 working days to process your application.

I suppose things will be a bit slow last week and this week due to the Raya holidays and today is a public holiday so many people taking or clearing off their annual leave last week and this week to enjoy longer weekend.

I know that Alliance Bank do not accept application via fax.

In respect of your above paragraph, not an AMEX promotion but I asked for discount and they offered me RM100 off but on condition I do not pay it under installament scheme.

I have mentioned this before several times, but I will repeat again, you can ask for discount at Harvey Norman. Not all oulets give discount but no harm asking. Besides the notebook, I have also got discount for Washing Machine and Dryer.
