hey guys,

recently i received a few letters which address my house yet there's no such person in my house.  i suspect those letter are credit card statement and there's 1 pos laju notification.

is it rightful for me to open the letter or im just strike it and write "no such person" and throw back the mail to mail box.
*
You should cross out the name and write:
Addressee unknown
Return to sender

and throw it back into the postbox.

Can graduates apply for OCBC Titanium? Currently I am waiting for my induction letter from KKM. I have my offer letter and I have supplementary Maybank credit card in my record. What are my chances to get approved?
*
I don't know if the academic criteria goes towards meeting the requirements for the cc application but I am pretty sure that being a supplementary card holder gives no indication of your credit standing and therefore has no bearing whatsoever to your present application for a cc. After all it is the principal card holder that settles the cc bills not the supp card holder.

my salary is RM1,100.
I need a credit card for petrol and some e-payment only.
More likely to get a credit card with card limit RM2,000.
Anyone can give me advice?
What bank is better for me?
*
If can't get cc and as a last resort, try Bank Simpanan Nasional. Find out if the cc card with the Sijil Simpanan scheme is still ongoing. Buy RM5000 Premium Savings Certificates and get a cc with RM3500 CL. Use the cc for a year and go apply for cc from another bank of your choice. If successful you then cash out your Sijil Simpanan and cancel the BSN cc.

I have applied the OCBC but failed although i fullfill the requirement.
Can i apply again?
*
There may or may not have been valid reasons for turning down your cc application but I am quite sure the bank would have a record of your application and noted down the reasons for their refusal. As such I think it's rather pointless to re-apply within such a short time. Maybe give it 6 months to a year before trying again.

cant be what.  it is clearly stated in the form that, application to be submitted via fax.
*
Applications can be submitted via fax but we are not talking about applications here. I don't think any bank will ever tell you the reasons why your application was rejected or refused when they even go to such lengths as to use euphemisms like 'application declined' in order not to antagonise the customer. It's in the interest of the bank to have good PR.

As such this 'writing in' to their cc dept. is more like an appeal for re-evaluation of your application. I think chances of success are very low.

Let's say there's a stall accepting credit card application.  With our info and photocopied IC, what kind of damage can they do if it's a scam?  Can they apply for an actual cc with all of our details except the address, and when the cc arrives at their doorstep, they activate it and start using the card?

What precautions can we take to ensure they are not scammers?  Even if we look at their ID and call up the bank to check, their IDs can be fake too...
*
With the photocopied IC how can the activation pin arrive at their doorstep? If they try and use a fake address I should think the banks will be able to know since MyKad is supposed to be a smartcard (well maybe not a lot smart but I'm sure still a little bit smart notwithstanding Malaysia Boleh!) and the address is tied to it.

As such I think it should be safe to apply at those cc promotions at shopping compleses and supermarkets.

The agent can apply for the bank's cc using all of your details except the address which is his.  When the card arrives, he can use it (if pre-activated) or call the bank to activate his account.  Since he has your details, it's easy to answer the verification questions.
What activation PIN?  Don't they call the bank to activate the cards?  And some cards are pre-activated too.  Delivery of cards can be to an address other than the address on the MyKad (eg. office address).

I don't understand your statement in bold.  You mean the bank can query a MyKad number and view the details including address?
*
arrgh I got it mixed up with the ATM card where they send you the pin about a week after you received the ATM card.

Anyway if what you peeps say is true would the banks not have plugged up this loophole instead of using agents to very actively promote the cc's at shopping complexes? Would the banks go about so blatantly leaving themselves open for fraud?

Last time, when i went to Hervey Norman to buy LCD TV which cost around RM4k.
Then staffs wish to charge me 3 % of RM4k,
At the end, i dont want to buy the LCD TV.

I am not sure, whether 3% of credit charge, should charge to customer?
Is it legal?
If we face this situation again, we should phone to bank to complaint or the shop management?
*
"I am not sure, whether 3% of credit charge, should charge to customer?"
- They shouldn't charge the extra 3% to the customer. In fact they should give the customer 3% discount so as to encourage more customers to use their cc's and therefore gain more business. doh.gif

"Is it legal?"
- You need to ask a lawyer that since most of us are just laymen when it comes to legal matters. doh.gif

"If we face this situation again, we should phone to bank to complaint or the shop management?"
- But of course, not only should you phone up the bank to complain, you can also make a report to the consumer's association and if you really hate that retail outlet you can try to cause more problems for them by even making a police report! doh.gif

But wouldn't it be so much easier if you just pay cash unless you are the very contentious kind of person just all out to cause problems! doh.gif

This is news to me, I have bought many stuffs from Harvey Norman and never once had to pay any surchage for using CC or AMEX. Actually, last year I bought a RM3K+ notebook for my son using AMEX  and got RM100 discount because I did not opt for the 0% interest installement scheme.
*
I don't know about Harvey Norman cos never patronised their outlets before. In your particular case could there have been an Amex promotion?

Except for large retail concerns like hypermarkets, supermarts etc and established businesses most smaller retailers impose a 2-3% surcharge for purchases with cc. Whilst this may not be entirely legal it has by and large been accepted by most of Malaysian society. Another case in point, how many of you can truly say they have never watched or even bought a pirated vcd or dvd? Has any of you ever tried to get a cab from Subang Parade? Do you know that cabs there don't use the meter? So is it legal? Of course not! In real life a lot of things are done for the sake of expediency not because it is 100% legal.

I am really surprised that a Malaysian can ask this question about the cc surcharge. Can he have led such a sheltered life?

shud i help him or not? any risk? i dont hv CC yet
*
I marvel at such questions. btw I need a guarantor for a RM200K loan. If you are feeling particularly munificent maybe you can stand as guarantor for me. Absolutely zero risk...... for me that is. tongue.gif

i jz loged a complaint to bnm pertaining to a bank charging me GSt and issuing me the bank statement without me even receiving d cc and activating it.
*
How can that happen? Maybe you applied for the cc and forgot all about it and somehow the cc got lost in the mail so they are now charging you for the GST. I thought some of the users here mentioned that the cc can be activated even if it is sent to a fake address! Maybe some scammer has activated the cc on your behalf.

What are you trying to say ? Isn't the priority of his question about online bill payment? So what's wrong with my answer? doh.gif

What are you peeps talking about not being able to pay tnb bills on payonline? Go to the website, click on service providers and then click Others, you can see TNB in there.

on your cc there is the valid thru date embossed on it. why do you need to check when you can see the 'expiry date' on the cc?

Existing cards are unlikely to be affected. Otherwise, our government will need to REFUND the service tax that we have already paid for third card and above.
*
Any chance that means ppl who already have 2 cc's will not be eligible to apply for a 3rd?
