Looking at the face im not sure. But I know they do their processing at the back room in the Card Centre in pavilion.

What the hell ? They told me it was their credit card centre at the HQ that requested for my income document shakehead.gif

QUOTE(rockefeller @ Sep 27 2010, 10:05 PM)
Anyway, three more of my friends I brought to the Pavilion card centre today. One went for DA two went for Cimb WMC and VI. All of them used their HSBC Platinum card for application as their limit is 30k, 30k and 35k each. All got their cards within an hour! They require only IC and HSBC Card. Two got 100k CL for their new card and the third got 200k CL as he has existing housing loan with CIMB above RM 1m. That's all smile.gif
Man ... i really think i screwed up badly last week when i went to their credit card centre. Shouldn't have told them i do not currently work and just give them my dad's company name when they asked where do i work at the moment. The outcome might be different then doh.gif Haih ... going to deposit some FD into CIMB Bank and then withdraw all once the card is approved when i try my luck next time.

Rockefeller,

Where else has this promotion at the moment besides their credit card centre at Pavillion ? For the World MasterCard.

Damansara Heights. They may not need your income document but there is not leather gift in Damansara Heights. The 1-hour instant card approval promotion is until 30/9.
Argh ... won't be back in KL until mid-Oct. Never mind. Try it when the opportunity comes next time biggrin.gif They used to have 1-hour instant card approval a while ago too at Pavillion. Therefore i am sure this won't be the last. Just not sure if they would still accept a HSBC credit card with a mere RM30k credit line then. See how it goes ... Thanks though biggrin.gif

It looks like you want the card desperately despite having not much benefit from it. Anyway, CIMB has just opened a new centre in Sunway Pyramid. I guess they will be having the similiar promotion in Sunway Pyramid as well as the new CIMB Corporate HQ in Menara Bumi Commerce at Jalan Raja Laut very soon.
Yes. Not going to deny that i want the card badly. Every time i shop at all these stores that have promotion specially for CIMB Bank credit cardholders only but the bad news is i do not have one. I have missed so many rebates or free cash voucher such as :
- charge RM90 at MPH, get x% rebate + free voucher (**promotion expired)
- 5% off at ISETAN (**promotion expired)
- 5% off at Guardian
- up to 20% off at Starbucks
- 5% off at Servay & Parkwell

There are many more but i just couldn't recall all now. I can save so much money if i have their card. In fact, when i was at KLIA last week. I saw this banner that CIMB World MasterCard gets 15% off at the chocolate shops at KLIA while the rest of the CIMB MasterCards get 10%. I always buy many chocolates every time i pass through KLIA and i go to KL once a month. Imagine how much i'll save doh.gif

Besides, CIMB Bank credit card is supported for many 0% IPP in the market too. This sure is good smile.gif

QUOTE(rockefeller @ Sep 27 2010, 10:58 PM)
How much FD required normally to add weight to the application?

Not exactly sure. I know that by becoming their Preferred Banking customer, you'll get a pre-approved Platinum MasterCard. May be FD in 7 figures can get the World MasterCard ? Or probably half a million will do too.

QUOTE(rockefeller @ Sep 27 2010, 10:58 PM)
I know Maybank can give you pre approved credit card if your monthly salary is credited to Maybank account for at least 3 months. The branch manager can give pre approval and most of the time you have 90% success rate using this route. they just require IC and payslip to support.

Do you know any other banks who work similarly for pre approval status aside from making yourself their Priority Banking customer?
I have no idea.

By the way, CIMB Bank has also partnered many restaurants that give 10% - 20% off total bill if you pay using their card. HSBC has many such promotions too but CIMB Bank has even more such partner restaurants.

Oh, and the bonus points required to redeem for shopping voucher is the lowest among all the banks in Malaysia too thumbup.gif

Oh ... yet another deal ? You see ? Another opportunity to save some money missed doh.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Sep 28 2010, 12:32 AM)
b) until end Sept 5% rebate at Guardian, TESCO, Cold Storage and Giant.

Not sure if all these will return a few months later or whether they will extend these offers. Anyway, the deals at ISETAN and Guardian have returned a few times already. The 5% cash rebate at ISETAN and Guardian already exist way back in 2008. This offer is always availble between x-month - x-month only but they always bring it back a couple of months later rclxms.gif

CIMB, canton i gets 10X (one of my favourite restaurants) and also at Tai Thong got discount.

And now, no courier fees for vouchers  thumbup.gif
Too bad they still charge RM8 for shipment to East Malaysia. Anyway, one needs only 10,000 bonus points to redeem a RM50 voucher versus most other banks that need 11,500 - 13,000.

You don't need to have a premium card like CIMB WMC to enjoy these benefits. Any CIMB/DA Platninum or Gold card can also give what you desire above all.
Yeah. I do need CIMB WMC. How so ? Because it's the only CIMB Bank MasterCard to give 2x bonus point for all transactions transacted in foreign currency. There are also promotions that only CIMB WMC are entitled for. That's not all, there are also promotions that CIMB WMC gets higher rebate. For instance, 15% off at the chocolate shop at KLIA versus 10% for all other CIMB MasterCards. A difference of a mere 5% might not seem huge but this won't be the case if you buy a lot. With the RM50 credit card service tax still in effect, of course i am after the best overall card and CIMB WMC fits my needs perfectly.

Many of us do not think CIMB WMC is the best cc in the market. As you are so tempted and fall for this card, just go for it.
Everyone has different lifestyle. Therefore there is no real best credit card in the market with the exception of OCBC Bank MasterCard Titanium of course. It just so happens that this particular card fits my needs perfectly which is why i am so keen on it. It is also the reason why question such as "what is the best credit card" is usually ignored on this board.

Even for some restaurants, many cards may have promotions for 15%, 25% or even 50%. Sure you will use that card instead of this card. This card is very good for restaurants that is not having any promotion by cc.
That is so true ! Anyway, have not heard from them yet regarding my card application. Going to call them this Friday if still no update from them. Worst case scenario ? Pledge a few thousands to get the card.

As for the CIMB Bank World MasterCard, i have to wait until my fixed deposit matures which i renewed for 60-month in 2007 before i can finally transfer some to CIMB Bank. Interest rate for 60-month fixed deposit was high then and the interest payout frequency is on a monthly basis. The huge interest rate cut in 2009 had no impact on this particular fixed deposit account of mine at all tongue.gif

Do I just need to silently hand the restaurant cashier the DA/CIMB card and the 10-20% discount off the total bill will automatically be given? Or do I need to inform the cashier that his restaurant offers discount to DA/CIMB card holders?
My experience is that you do not need to tell them. They will automatically give you the rebate. Just make sure you check the receipt before signing on it. Amarin Heavenly Thai for instance, always automatically gives me the rebate whenever i pay using my HSBC credit card.

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Sep 29 2010, 07:52 AM)
Since you had already been rejected before, the reasons will still be in the bank's system for some time, so be prepared for the worst unless your FD is substantial enough to divert their attention. As a basic requirement, CIMB requires RM150K to be eligible for auto approval of Plat card, so I would guess for their WMC, RM300K should be adequate. However, if you can, go for RM500K and above and ask for an invitation for their Enrich WMC and you are there  rclxms.gif
Yes. I am aware of the 6-month cooling off period which is why i only intend to try again next year. Besides, i can't come up with the money right now. It is a no-brainer to cancel that 60-month FD of mine simply to deposit some into CIMB Bank just to support my credit card application with them.

To clarify, the 6 months cooling period is just that, a cooling period. It does not impunged your record and if I am not mistaken, it will also show in CRIS as well. Individual banks will have their respective records retention period and some banks keep their data forever  tongue.gif
Spoke to a customer service officer. They do have my record and my application apparently is marked "canceled" and not "application rejected". I was also informed that the 1-hour instant card issuance for the World and Infinite card series at Pavillion, Plaza Damansara and Menara Bumiputra Commerce is not a limited time offer but a permanent special service at those mentioned places.

Not for the first year. Anyway, if you charge at least RM10,000 to their card in one year. They will help you to pay for the RM50 credit card tax the following year.

MilesAndMore,
Did they mention tho, if they're still gonna accept HSBC 30K, Citibank 50K limit cards? Sounds like a limited time offer smile.gif
Sorry. Did not ask them about that. Anyway, i doubt they know it. Someone called them last week and was told he must submit his income document which is not exactly true. At least not to those few who managed to get World MasterCard/VISA Infinite simply by giving them their HSBC credit card as a reference and no income document.

If you want guaranteed approval, your CRIS should show a consistent minimum over RM10K outflow per month over the past year.
Minimum consistent spending over RM10,000 per month on your existing card is definitely not enough. Been spending way more than that every month in the past one year. Spent even more in the past two months but that did not help either. And i do have a hire purchase loan under my name too. Newly approved about two months ago from EON Bank.

One is the son of a very close family friend, who is also a student like you, with no job and just only 20 years of age. However, he does have some money to his name, though not with CIMB. Applied via his HSBC Premier, as I recalled  hmm.gif
Can a 20-year-old open a HSBC Premier account ? Because just two years ago it wasn't possible. Besides, i do not think he can have a principal credit card from any financial institution in Malaysia if he is only 20-year-old right ? Anyway, i used that card to back my application too last week.

By the way, i am not exactly sure if the bank can see how much we have spent on our existing credit card(s) in the past 12-month because only these are shown in our CCRIS credit report :
- total outstanding as of xx/xx/xx
- credit limit of each card
- total active cards owned
- collateral type
- any missed payments in the last 12-month etc.
Or probably banks can see even more information. Not sure though hmm.gif

Yes. Must use your own reward points. 9,500 reward points are needed to redeem the RM50 credit card tax for any HSBC principal credit card.

Hi,

Does Visa/Mastercard/JCB/Diner's Club/Amex get membership fee from the bank when the bank waived annual fee for its cardmember?  smile.gif
From what i understand is that the bank doesn't pay any of the membership fee collected to VISA International/MasterCard Worldwide/JCB/Diner's Club/AMEX. As the competition is getting so stiff, most banks no longer collect annual fee from the cardholders anymore. This is yet another trend started by those American banks.

QUOTE(cenkudu @ Sep 30 2010, 10:31 PM)
btw just want to share with the rest about reloading touch n go with CC. we can actually reload touch n go at any petrol stations/kiosks that have the topup machine and have cc terminals. charge is 50 cents same if we are reloading using ATM (bank account). better than zing card as well (RM1-RM2 depending on banks)
QUOTE(chemistry @ Sep 30 2010, 10:51 PM)
If we use cc to top up TnG, the reload amount must be at least RM100 to achieve breakeven point.
My breakeven point is based on usual return rate of reward point (200 pts = RM1), ie. 0.5%.
Reload of RM100 will earn 100 pts, which in turn translates to RM0.50 upon points redemption.

Anyway, reload using Shell Gold card may save a bit more, really just a bit. sweat.gif
CIMB Bank account holders can now reload your "Touch, Wait & Go Card" without incurring any service fee via any CIMB Bank ATM that supports "Touch, Wait & Go Card" reload.
