i just moved in to a new home, a kampung area... streamyx is limited here (according to their spoke person, something related port sizes, bla3).. luckily 3g broadband (maxis and celcom) is available here, but at first i'd expect snail speed, just enough to browse simple websites....

to my suprise, i get full speed, using celcom rm98/month, @ 3.6 mbps... at night it slows down a bit at 2.5++ mbps... only drawback is the quota T_T cant download happily anymore.. had to watch usage... but im happay nonetheless.. still can play my favourite online games, free of lag, at least most of the time smile.gif

what's the normal speed you get if you got capped?

Hi all... first of all sorry for this noob question.

I was away overseas for 8 months. During this time my dad has been using our Celcom broadband.. our package RM 98/month. Of course, he doesn't download anything just check and send emails.

Previously I was able to download lots of TV shows and movies. No problem. These days I notice I get an SMS saying that I've exceeded my 6gb limit and they will manage my speed. Thereafter the speed gets super crappy.

Just wondering, is this a new thing? I never had this problem before I went overseas. Really sad cos with this kind of speed, I might as well go Starbucks and surf. doh.gif Wanna jump ship to unifi or maxis already..

That's normal. It's the Fair Usage Policy nod.gif
If you exceed your allocated volume for each month (yours is 6GB), they will throttle your speed to a much slower speed. nod.gif
You will regain back your subscribed speed on the your next billing date.

You can just wait for your speed to be resetted, or you can purchase additional volume in Celcom OCS site smile.gif

Read here for more info: http://www.celcom.com.my/broadband/policy.php

For gaming you should take ping time as major consideration coz ping time determine your data transmition delay. For celcom bb using HSPA data card.... i get 65ms delay... so i think its okay...tongue.gif
