Final Standings

1st place: Nirvana.my
2nd place: iG-Ice
3rd place: XTU
4th place: XGL

Below are the confirmed details:

Prize allocation:

First prize: RM 5,000
Second prize: RM 2,000
Third prize: RM 1,000
Fourth prize: Warcraft Battle Chest x5


Tournament format:
- It will be an OPEN tournament whereby NO teams will be banned!
- Map version: 6.68c -CM Mode
- Team slots: 32
- Standard set of rules apply.
- No seedings; lucky draw applied

Date, Day, Time:
- 11 & 12 September 2010 (Saturday and Sunday)
- 10:30 am check-in and draw lots
- 12:00 pm 1st round of matches begin

Registration Fees:
- RM 100.

AKICOM Home Team:
- You read that right. AKICOM is also planning to scout for a potential team during the tournament to sponsor. Terms of sponsorship have yet to be decided, but the team will most probably receive gaming hardware, free training and such.

Prize Payout:
- There will be no play first, pay you later bull crap. The top 3 winners will be REWARDED immediately.

Hi yaGu.yaGu, I found an old Taman Connaught map and attached it to my first post. smile.gif

Will try to confirm the registration fees by today, I don't think it will reach 3 digits... RM 50-75 u guys willing to pay? Also, please join this Open tournament even if it's not just for amateurs. It's good exposure and good fun!

Hi, the new proposed date is 11 and 12 September (Friday and Saturday). Are all teams free? Sorry to disappoint but the registration fees will be RM 80 - 100. But you're still paying a small amount to stand a chance and win a lot of money!

Hi KoaLa-BeaR, thanks for your suggestion. We will consider reducing the registration fees but for now it's RM 80. The prize won't be reduced because we have the money ready.

Solution make best out of 3match or groupings or loser bracket but it wil spend alot time

But if u ban top team sure gt people cmplain oso tongue.gif

Yes I agree with you. It's OK, let's see how many teams in KL are willing to come before we change anything. Please spread this tournament news link on Facebook/MSN. The more responses we get, the better!

Haven't discuss with sponsor about tournament structure yet. We have to see how many teams we get first. After that, we will have a meeting with SMM people so they can help us with brackets and single elim/double elim/group stage. Will announce ASAP ^^

Come on teams make yourselves free on 11 and 12 September! Join this tournament to gain experience. Grab this chance to meet your favourite gamers in action too!

We'll check out any potential teams who come and participate. You don't have to win, we don't expect you to win against the professionals.. but just do your best and if you're good, AKICOM will gladly sponsor you!

That's right, we don't just want what's best for the teams but also the spectators and fans as well. Start finding out where AKICOM is located and make yourselves free to come and watch on 11 and 12 September!

There will be big projector just for you to watch selected matches.

Thing is, with that prizes up for grab ... even if you ban top teams which you should depending on your reason of making this event, will still attract a whole bunch of randomites to join your competition.

Wassup fellow UCSI compatriot,

I agree with you. It really depends on what vision the CC boss + sponsor have. They plan on making this a top-class event with a whole lot of professionalism and high-level game play.. but we might have a lack of participation from the junior teams. If we choose to ban the top teams, we might get an increase in participation but the tournament level may remain amateurish but fun nonetheless.

btw look at that Gigabite tournament, posted few weeks, banning top teams, only got 16 teams. I think it doesn't matter of ban or not too ban, it just just dota less player playing now

if possible not only dota..some other games like FPS(cs,sa) someday?...lol...i m sure there are more ppl join...i do go there for gaming most of the time

Is not less player, Is because they all dont wan to lose. You think dota player get less and lesser? Nope , this will not happen in few year time.You go ANY CC , you found out almost half of the customer is playing DOTA.You should know , not many people could be those to tier team let alone beat them.

@Hawaii: Yo long time no see bro. If you are willing to travel from Brunei and navigate through the streets of Kuala Lumpur to play in AKICOM, why not man? But I dunno if there are any hotels nearby, I'll scout one for you.

Yeah we got 16 teams from Lowyat already, if we stick flyers and spread the word around the area we will get more teams. Thanks for the useful advice ProxyRoxy and phearfiery.

AKICOM Home Team:
- You read that right. AKICOM is also planning to scout for a potential team during the tournament to sponsor. Terms of sponsorship have yet to be decided, but the team will most probably receive gaming hardware, free training and such.

Prize Payout:
- There will be no play first, pay you later bull crap. The top 3 winners will be REWARDED immediately.

OK, these are the temporary plans we have laid out so far. If I left out anything and/or you want to make inquiries about AKICOM's Open DotA Tournament , feel free to reply.

Reminder: Interested team leaders you may start reserving slots now. I just received confirmation that the sponsor wants the competition launched soon after we hit the 32 limit team quota.

No need to wait on the day to draw the lots. As the organizer, you can draw the lots yourself 1-2 day(s) before the tourney starts (or some time after the deadline of registration). To make it fair, you can record yourself drawing the lots. That way everyone would know exactly how the draw went. This is exactly how DotaSG does for most, if not all, of their tournaments.

np.. well, if u are going to implement it make sure that u enforce some strict rule to make sure that they are at the venue around ~30 mins before their supposed game start to avoid any delaying and such.. because sometimes some ppl like to exploit the fact that they know when their game is gonna start and only start venturing towards the venue close to game time, and suddenly they come across obstacles (traffic jams/train delays etc) - which would hamper the progress of the tournament somewhat for sure (especially more so if the tournament is running on a tight schedule).. i think if u dig up some old dotasg tournaments threads, u would probably got a bit of idea on how to manage the time and rules for this..

anyways, all the best running this.. definitely a huge boost in prizes compared to other tournaments recently..

2. Teams whose matches are played later in the day are allowed to return later but you are advised to stay close by to avoid any unforeseen circumstances i.e. traffic jams. not a bias opinion but im interested to see how the tourney will go on that day with 20+ teams x5 players being in the cc lol. not to mention the amount of spectators as well.

Hi yes, that would prove to be quite a challenge. We will encourage the other teams who waiting for games to go tour UCSI University. while waiting. Haha. biggrin.gif

Only the players and referee can enter the CC. We will install a makeshift tent outside the CC with fans and 2 plasma TVs showing selected live matches. Hope this answers your concern.smile.gif

Excuse me, use brain please...thanks. Not only this tournament have to wait, other event oso need to wait. SMM Dota tournament also need to wait.We also dunno who will go to the group A,B,C,D. IF u qualified u oso need to wait for the second round.
So we draw out the team at earlier time before the tournament start!:)

Hi thenoobone, drawing lots will be done at 10:30 am. If your team only plays 3 hours later, you may leave and return 30 mins before your match. Places like nearby Leisure Mall is a good place to chill out while waiting.

If on that day really don't have 32 teams then i suggest rearrange the timetables if possible, example, arrange the top teams like Ks.Nirvana or MuFc in later bracket ( just in case )

some spectator are former referees .. most alot is the cc owner cousin and etc .. outsider not allowed .. sorry ^^

Sincere thanks to AKICOM for organizing this event. You satisfied my hunger for nv.my matches, damn stim. lol

Btw u guys should release the bracket list asap, the only way for me to find out whom nv.my won throughout the tournament is by browsing every pages on this thread shocking.gif

Last but not least, why they use -cmoi instead of -cm mode for everygame? observer info is already on by default, i dunno about everyone else but i always keep track of laning progress by checking their creep stat and kills/death. It's very inconvenient for me without observer info

We almost always reminded teams to type -cmoi in-game but they never ever listen. Next time we will be strict.

Concerning the bracket, I have forgotten half of the matches... Dareva can you ask Ah Foot to do it? He has the soft copy of the bracket...

Yes the top 5 Malaysian (at least Peninsular) teams have been roughly determined through this tourney.

On a side note, Akicom's popularity sure does seem to have increased.
