where to download Samsung Kies? I can't connect to my PC..anybody know? TQ

I am afraid that the latest map from malfreemap. As far as i know, they may not produce anymore map for papago... Do check out their side for further update.

Sadly, garmin not on Android, if not, i would rush to get it, But i m very satisfy with Bruts and papago now.. plus my Garmin on my symbian., Guess i wont get lost by having this 3 maps haa...

Come and join the SGS family     

I just discovered something today after I installed the 3G Watchdog...to my surprised actually....no wonder it is so easy for us to exceed our data usage without realising it...

I realised that everytime when I click and use any downloaded application from digital compass to live aquarium wall paper or any of the already downloaded games,  it USES data plan (even when i have uncheck the box to disable background data!).....which means that even if you thought you have switch off the usage of data, almost every downloaded application and games uses your data plan when you are accessing it......to me, it spoils the fun already.....sigh......everytime i uses these applications or games, i'm thinking about the data charges ticking away at the background....

looks like going for unlimited data plan is the only way to go in order to enjoy the SGS without thinking about the data limit all the time....

Does iPhone application and games works in this same manner?

Hi, I'm quite new to Android phone....can you please advise how can I disable the data connection?

Is it in Settings/ Mobile Settings/ Network Mode/ and then click GSM only?

so you mean I can  switch off/ disconnect the data service.....and then when I want to use data again, i can easily switch it on again...

Does Apndroid does the same function as well...enabling me to switch off the data plan so that I can play the games or uses the application without incurring data charges?

I would suggest SwitchPro widget to be a better alternative to APNdroid, because APNdroid requires you to restart the phone most of the time just for 3G to "work" again when you turn 3G back on.

Just bought my precious, precious SGS less than a week back.
I upgrade my Firmware to Froyo 2.2 and already rooted my phone - Last night.

Problems
1. Android market lags, and for some reason, the screen go blank just before u can install programs from the Market, so to proceed i have to press the power key everytime .... and i mean everytime.

2. Android market (again) and won't show some of the program i had installed previous to the new Froyo. eg - netscource, masjidnow, etc
- from the reading i find out that with froyo i cannot install "protected programs.

3. After the Froyo upgrade, everytime i start the phone, the TTS will say "New Message arrived" but no message whatsoever.

4. My phone cannot get to connect to 3g/HSDPA

That's for my problems for now, will be back if i find anymore problems

1. Is the sleep/phone lock  function in ur SGS is just too fast, and anywy to "slow: it down.

i use froyo 2.2 J2

1. no nothing installing.... but still goes ablank (new english word, ablank, perhaps :-P)

2. on my way, nstalling at moment. will inform is successful.

3. no, sms programs. just the normal messaging. the problem starts after installing froyo.

4. still having the problem with 3g/hsdpa.
will formatting the internal sd card like kaeru said help??

You can mix the CSC file but not the pda & modem, but u need to ensure the rom have same PIT requirement or it wont boot

Remark: Dont mix chinese CSC with europe rom, the customade chinese program from eg JH1 CSC will not execute.

I realised that DXJG4 dont have the XME csc file, so even u flash XWJM5 pda + XWJM3 modem + DXJG4 CSC you wont get maxis setting. So just to share with you all in case u really wan the XME csc you can extract the XME content from \system\csc from a DXJF4 phone using root explorer then inject the XME folder into the phone that u need the XME csc.

Method:
1. U need root explorer installed
2. Get the XME content from DXJF4 phone at \system\csc\XME --> copy the XME folder to the sdcard
3. Transfer the XME folder to the phone u intend to install XME csc to \system\CSC\ -->  u should have \system\csc\XME by now
4. Open the dialer then key in *#272*HHMM# --> HHMM is the present time of ur phone in 24hr format
5. The Sales Code Selection menu shall appear & the current code you have is SER --> default fr XWJM5 rom
6. You should only see one option of sale code to change which is XME --> If you copy other CSC folder then u shall have more option to choose eg SIN --> I would advise you to inject the CSC folder that u need coz the rom space is limited, dunno what will happen if u put too many CSC into the rom
7. Press the "Install" button the phone shall reboot, the scripting screen shall appear & display all the activities of the new CSC installation
8. Phone will reboot one more time & you'll get  the maxis configuration like the DXJF4

I can confirm it works coz i did it & using it

yup. with which firmware u gonna use the csc?
u can't mix it with european PDA & MODEM. european use 512 pit file. u can try it but u gonna brick your phone.

I heard from my friend that Samsung Galaxy's resolution is superb but IPhone 4 is even better. Is that true?

yup same thing happen to me. but to have the malay swpe & locale language u have to use the whole firmware.
DXJG4 is also good firmware. but now im using JPJG8

it is african firmware. on Samsung apps of this firmware Holy Quran & eDict English will appear on the list. on other firmware u cant see this app.

hmm sorry guys, but is it true that galaxy s has a bit problem when come to gps comparing other android?

iQuran from Market also superb.

To Theter using Kies you need to:-
Set USB connection to Kies
Once connected to Kies, click Tethering.
If you are first time, I think they will ask what to dial. This you need to give info as your APN setting.

The simpler way:-
Set USB connection to PC Internet
Connect to PC
PC will recognize it as another network and you free to browse.
