The Voodoo Lagfix beta .tar file is staring me right in the face. I'm undoing RyanZA's EXT2 Lagfix 2.3 right now.

QUOTE(lOrDjAbU @ Sep 1 2010, 10:15 PM) Uhhh.. thanks bro. Good to know you got my back. QUOTE(hnr2802 @ Sep 1 2010, 10:24 PM) i flashed the voodoo lagfix already. Ok, done deal. Flashed it. Previously was getting a disgustingly fast 2255 Quadrant score. Now it's down to a more respectable 1530. Also Settings->About Phone shows Kernel Version as 2.6.29 curio@carton #161. Can't tell how well it performs yet but I've been able to do something I have not been able to do previously: simultaneously download and install 2 apps from Market AND go back to my launcher and swipe between home screens. btw, noticed new app; Malay-English eDict in Samsung App. |

Anyone here who applied the voodoo lagfix notice an improvement in the GPS? Locktimes are insanely quick now, and the phone sees and locks on to at least 7-8 satellites. Anyone here able to confirm my findings or am I imagining things again?

QUOTE(itman2000my @ Sep 3 2010, 10:24 AM) My experience with the GPS while using it on and off for 2 weeks, sometimes they lock the sats in less than a minute. That's my experience as well *before* applying voodoo. And I know voodoo does not make changes to the GPS. But damn, I swear the GPS is better now. Sometimes it takes ages to lock so much so that i hv to exit the app, off the GPS and then restart the GPS and app again. Then the GPS will lock on. It's not perfect. Its usable UNTIL Samsung comes out with a perfect fix. Voodoo lagfix does not change GPS driver..... |

QUOTE(jujx @ Sep 3 2010, 10:31 AM) I can vouch for it being much quicker. QUOTE(matsuru @ Sep 3 2010, 10:39 AM) Guys. Today I notice my SGS drain battery very fast. When I check battery usage, I found out cell standby use the most, 47%. anyone has similar experience? Battery drain fast in how many hours? What were you doing? Was the phone active? Did you have Wifi/3G/GPS on? Live wallpaper? Widgets or apps doing background syncs?QUOTE(horphi @ Sep 3 2010, 11:27 AM) WOW tried at my balcony, got lock instantly! (turn on GPS, launch papago . instantly hear the gps lock tone). but i still get 5/6 satelites after 15 sec. will try again and post update. Yeh! So I'm not imagining this. QUOTE(kfc @ Sep 3 2010, 11:40 AM) I've just bought SGS last night. As good as the Desire is, there's just a lot more potential on the SGS. Its got raw power under the hood that's currently being held back by Samsung's poor software implementation that's causing the slow RFS and dodgy GPS performance. Both fixable to some extent, as demonstrated by the guys at xda. Hopefully with the Froyo update slated for Sept-Oct, Samsung will get their act together and sort things out. Very happy about this phone. This is the first time I use an android phone. Previously I was an iphone user. It's an excellent phone. but getting around and start using it has got deeper learning curves compare to iphone. when is the release date for Froyo? my other workmates who is using HTC desire keeps teasing me for it. |
