hi guys..do u notice in the contact, u touch n push to left will direct make call and to right wil go to message...??

*o this feature u guys already know it. am i bit slow...
*
Yep, this is a carry over from Samsung's TouchWiz interface in their Bada OS phones. It's not a very obvious feature and easy to overlook.

Did you know in the Contacts app, as you are sliding down the alphabet strip on the right.. you can nudge your finger a little to the left and get a secondary alphabet strip? brows.gif

It's a feature quite well known, lol..

Added on August 11, 2010, 10:40 pmThere is someone here selling kingston microSD quite cheap.
RM300 for class 10 16gb IIRC.

The others are of course cheaper. The class 4s I mean.
*
I'd stay away from Kingston. From personal experience, their SD cards (mini, micro) were always slow, even if they were rated at a class 4 or 6.

hey guys,i'm updating my firmware now using the odin method,
however, I don't see any files inside code folder to be added to PDA option

but if i view them manually then it's there

or i have to add the unzip code folder to pda option?

thanks a lot
*
Most firmwares will come with three tar files: CODE, CSC and MODEM. Read the first page and threads on XDA, all the info you need to flash your firmware and recover if there's a problem are documented. smile.gif

Is MyBackup Pro for free?
i can only find MyBackup from market. but it's 30 days trial.
*
Uhhh.. isn't it obvious then that it's a paid app with a 30 day trial? Without market enabler, our region's Market will only show free apps.

Any idea how to make custom wallpaper to appear fullscreen in homepage?
The crop box will apppear everytime and i can only crop a smaller image and ended up the wallpaper is only partial and blur

Tried wallpaper set and save and doesn't work
*
If you want full-resolution wallpapers (and none of the blurriness from a zoomed image), ensure your image's native resolution is 960x800 px. The cropbox just ensures that you have the width and height ratios right.

Does my backup pro backup everythings in your phone, including apps and the data associated with the apps?
*
It should. But I use Titanium Backup for my Apps+Data and My Backup for SMS/MMS. Never had much luck restoring my SMS/MMS using Titanium Backup. Be careful when restoring your system settings under My Backup if you have done additional fixes such as lagfix 2.3 or mimocan's fix. tongue.gif

anyway,i dont feel any "feeling fly" with my phone after lagfix..
is just a little improvement with boosted quadrant score
plus the live wallpaper, everything jerky....
*
Well, for me, with the lagfix I no longer get those annoying black screens when switching/launching apps. Previously, with mimocan's fix, it was ok at first, then it started to slow down - the pauses and black screens started happening again. It really is quite crap since the Desire doesn't seem to be plagued by this. Oh well.

im not really fancy about task killer..i can live with current performance but i just feel this lagfix kinda overrated..at least for me
this lagfix crash some of my widgets for no reason..i need to add and set back the settings..
*
Yeah, Larry and Sergei say not to use Task Killer for android. And the generally consensus seems to be against using task killers. This ain't WinMo. anyways, I personally don't use task killers - I prefer to rely on Android to manage the memory. So far, so good.

About the widgets, I'm facing weird behavior too, most notably failing to update. I'm using ADW launcher, so I'll be moving my homescreen back to TW3.0 and see whether it's an ADW problem or a lagfix problem.

put a "." infront of the folder you want to hide, try this.

Added on August 16, 2010, 7:44 pm

Lagfix best if only done after a fresh FW flash.

And it's not some magic bullet, it only acts as a buffer, so it won't keep reading the internal SD card and causing lag.

*
That sounds about right. It's no magic bullet. Things are still gonna stutter and spurt if your widgets are in the midst of downloading data or the processor is getting taxed for some reason. nod.gif

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Aug 16 2010, 08:24 PM)
ya,i done it with fresh firmware..the only thing i can notice better in performance is Market...
others?not really..
and everytime i reboot the phone, i need to reset some of my widgets again(SwitchPro)..there is no sound when im typing after reboot too...well i can undo the lagfix if i wan..
but the main concern is i hope they will optimize the performance for the usage of live wallpaper and also heating problem..
i can get 43c idle mode in my pocket with winter weather(around 9c + rain + windy) at today...nvr experienced it before..
*
43c idle is not normal behaviour. You sure you don't have some rogue widget/app that's either chewing up CPU cycles or making active data connections?

heys guys... help me!! my GS, i jus upgrade the firmware.. everything was good but it has become a brand new phone after installation complete!!??? OMG
but i check my fone storage, all my photos and music still inside.. wats going on??? can someone help??

apps and contacts all gone!!! HELP!
*
Yes, a fw flash wipes out your personal info, settings and apps+data. Photos and music are left untouched. Normal behavior here. Did you not read the FAQs before flashing? unsure.gif

Actually a very easy way to backup ur contact is export the contact to a single vcf file that will be store in your /sdcard, the vcf will keep every thing appear in ur contact including the contact photo. Of course u need to keep the vcf file somewhere else
*
Yep, you can export it into a vcf then send it to your own Gmail account as an attachement. Storage in the cloud, baby! thumbup.gif

Same for me. I had tried with Google Maps, Brut Google Navigation and Papago X5. All lock just in few seconds. I am on DXJG4 and previously DXJF4. Both ROM same result.
*
About the GPS, I guess if you're just using it on its own without any comparisons, it is OK. I've placed my Galaxy S (JM2, with GPS fix) next to a Desire with both running GPS Test. The Desire typically finds up to 10 satellites and starts locking on to 5-6 while the Galaxy struggles to find more than 3-4 satellites and yet it still refuses to lock.

The Desire also seems to hold on to satellite locks much better, the Galaxy is all over the place.. locking-unlocking, losing satellites. It's quite painful to watch. I'll try and snap a pic the next time I do a comparison.

So as always, YMMV. Not a scientific comparison by any means. It could just be my unit. It could be something in the air. Or just plain bad juju. Beats me.

Any suggestion how to recover this? Apart from sending to service centre?
*
A reflash will undo the lagfix. Then you can find out who SMS-ed you and go beat him.

Just got some tutorial from jujx.. many thank to him, now trying to download the firmware and odin as suggested by hihihehe at the 1st page. Hope reflashed it will resolved the problem.

I happened to see send sender of the sms before it interupted my unfix, it was from MAXIS...

What an idiot! I called Maxis to tell ask them where can i get my problem to be looked into, they told me to go to any maxis centre, and i repeated asking, shd i go to samsung direct, they so confident told me that, cos i m still within waranty period, so shd go maxis centre and they will despatch the phone for me for repair if needed.

Hence i choose KLCC, arrived, got the number and waited my turn, technician told me that "oh... this need to send to samsung" and told me to go samsung at Plaza Sentral.. of which i took LRT there (trying to be environmentally friend for not driving), arrived Sentral.. gosh.. they told me that is the sale office, shd go either Berjaya or PJ (but pls go PJ, cos that the place where all the most experience technician, this is what they told me)...

This is what bolehland... always give wrong instruction to customer!
*
Wow! that truly sucks man. I'm totally sorry to hear that. I would've given the Maxis guys a piece of my mind. Good luck with the reflashing.

<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> Enter CS for MD5..
<ID:0/003> MD5 hash value is invalid.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
if i delete the .md5 i get stuck at factoryfs.fs

shit, must be something wrong...
*
The JM5 firmware I recently applied also came in 3 .tar.md5 files. MD5 allows Odin to hashcheck the archive for integrity. I believe I added the file directly to Odin like you, but mine passed the MD5 hash check. You may have a corrupted download or the upload was corrupted instead. sad.gif

stock firmware DXJF4

everytime after the screen turns off, i turn it on again and the wifi is on, then it off automatically
*
Check your apps/widgets. You may have some app that is auto-enabling the wifi or some setting in one of your apps. The best thing you can do to save your power and data consumption is to be really conservative with the frequency of background synchronizations. Only enable them for apps that absolutely need it. The rest can be set to manual refresh. My 2 cents, for what it's worth. smile.gif

Hey, you guys keep flashing your phones.
Won't you all get frust when you have to reinstall the apps and all the data meh??
*
Yep, the reinstall is a real pain in the ass. I'm thinking of actually buying Titanium Backup so I can have unattended restores....

The HP only has either 8GB or 16GB internal memory.

If yr friend says it's 14GB, then it's 8GB internal + 6GB external sd card.
*
I had no idea they sold 6GB SD cards... doh.gif

Don't bother. Mis-info. The previous guy really don't know what he is talking about.

Yeh, that's what I thought. Am still deciding whether I want to put down the $$$ for Titanium Backup. It's tough being a cheapskate with principles (I don't pirate) rclxub.gif

Seem that TGYJH1 run pretty smooth WITHOUT lagfix installation. Read from elsewhere, mine still stick with JM5, wanna wait till froyo for the nx update..

I'm in the same boat. Think I'll stick to JM5 for a bit till either Froyo or a definite fix for the GPS woes comes out. This reflashing-reinstall thing's getting kinda old. tongue.gif

Most people will probably go nuts if they have to read every single post from V1 to now...

Yes, the same questions over and over. And I thought I was the only one that was getting annoyed. Why don't people use "Search this Topic" function? Also, can we stop spoon feeding people answers but instead get them to do a search?
