As I said above in my post .... Normally the Batteries being a consumable part is not cover by warranty. Please note the VW 5-year Warranty T&C above. However in Climacool case if the first SC at Jalan Ipoh is correct and that the radio drained his battery then its a car defect. if its proven car defect then the battery should be replaced. Lets see if the SC can find the problem lor.
From the FAQ

Q. What is the 5-year warranty programme?
A. Volkswagen is proud to announce its new 5-year warranty programme with unlimited mileage. This programme is an extension of the manufacturer’s warranty. Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) manufacturer’s warranty period is for 2 years. With this programme, VGM is extending the warranty period to an additional 3 years, which is to commence immediately upon the expiry of the 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

The warranties are one and the same.

Dear Sir,

I think we are not on the same page. I know what you meant by warranty yada yada..same T&Cs for 2 years and the 3 years extended coverage.

IMHO...warranty is warranty. Black and white of obligations, liabilities and so on. To me there is what called implied warranty. Implied as in not written but accepted. It is an accepted fact that a normal batt last at least 1 year (its bosch for god sake!!). So, Climacool's lasted 8 months. IMHO VW should have just replaced it rather than trying to find a loop hole to avoid replacing. Yes it is that simple. No point arguing till the cows come home on warranty..yada yada. Its called merchantable quality...a legitimate expectation by the customer to believe that the product is able to perform its intended use within its normal shelf life.

So, my guess since you didnt answer my hypothectical question like xenon lights buring after 1 month or wipers failing after 3 months, I take it that you will just replace it yourself. Well that is your perogative, but I believe many VW customers here feel otherwise.

Thanks

Dear sir you are too fast. I deleted my post before your reply.... Anyway I think you are correct and I am wrong unless of course Climacool changed the radio which causes the battery to drain.
*
No problem yo..I hope I didnt offend you in any way..
Its not about who is right or wrong. Its about ...a brand who pitch itself in a certain way (relaibility is no problem we give you 5 years peace of mind warranty) and then takes you around the merrybush once you expect them to hold true to their promise.

But glad that Climacool got an resolution form VW. Goes to show the power of keyboard warriors...hahahahaha

p.s agree if there was any tempering to electricals which caused the batt to die early, vw dont have to change it. Also if leaving your lights on and forgeting to switch it off counts as well... tongue.gif

its classic case of a manufacturer whose product is too populor for its support network to handle.

Too many cars sold, not enough investment into the service side, the service will get worse im afraid, till the tipping point when there are just too many complaints for VGM to ignore
*
Oh dear..

Looks like its another Forte situation revisted.
I think too many cars is not an valid excuse. VWM sacked their previous distributor for this problem and yet looks like its creeping back again.sad.gif
So dissapointing as other german marquees still able to deliver very good service. My household has a Merc and the service rendered by Hap Seng Star is top notch. Went there to replace and to fix a glove box due to own nigligence (TNG Card got stuck) and they fixed it for free.

Front DRL lights
http://paultan.org/2010/11/29/vw-introduce...s-for-the-golf/

I just saw one car with DRL today in the showroom... but SA not sure if Feb/March 2011 batch has it...

Anyone can confirm if the new 2011 Golf TSI have DRL lights?
*
I heard 2011 cars are on the way. ETA end of Feb early March can get cars. DRL looks nice but from what I hear its an option. Must pay extra for it.
But since we Malaysia dont get to chose so unlikely it will come with DRL.

ok im not defending VGM, im just giving reasons why VGM might have removed the lights.

- Process flow ( technicians and parts are not equipped/ready to support DRL headlights)
- Model differentiation, there could be mktg plans to introduce L&S variant with DRL later
- wrong spec vehicle sent from Germany, they cant have 1 unit with DRL..other ppl will see it and demand that thier cars have it too..or ask to purchase/install, when theres no stock

it might not feel "right", but customer is still getting 100% what he paid for. its just lax security on part of the dealer as customers should not see thier car prior to PDI

what the customer can try to do is talk to the manager to purchase the lights that was removed, since it would be just sitting in the storeroom somewhere

Added on February 18, 2011, 1:40 pm
and pls get facts right, 2011 units do not come with DRL as standard overseas , its an option
*
Yeah..I kinda of agree. For 2011 cars there is no L&S option, it has been integrated into the car. All cars come with L&S as standard. The DRL is actually an additional option overseas. So I dont think VGM will bring in cars with the DRL as standard for the 2011 cars. Because to do so, it will surely piss off 2010 buyers.

Why? The sales people attitude or the service center attitude?
*
SA and centre also. I was supposed to get my car today but SA called up and say ...errr..manager changed my car. Have to rearrange insurance and puspakom inspection. WTF?
Seriously thinking of cancelling the order. I have a sneaky feeling that they kinda bypass me for some VIP to get his/her faster. This is on top that I have paid my balance 2 weeks ago, everything was in order and SA told me that she needs 10 days to sort things out. Now 2 weeks down all this non sense came about..

I bought this car as a Valentine gift for missus..so now its already 1 week past deadline..missus getting pissed... hahahaha..and so am I.

Guess if I elect to take the car I wont be going back to Cergaz for this type of shitty service. God damn it..my worst fear has materialised even before I get my car. Crap service...VGM should take note of this!!

I've heard number of things about that "she" you mention at Cergaz. Once, my friend went there to test drive a VW car and the SA (the famous "she") just layan him so so and not much information given to my friend on how is the car like, what kind of features ...and so on. Then, he called me up, I bring him to Jln Ipoh vw and the next day, he place the booking, 4 or 5 days later, voila car is ready to collect.
*
4 OR 5 days only ...hmm perhaps anyone can let me know ..what is the usual delivery timeline? If Alias friend can do it in 4-5 days ..Cergaz taking 2 weeks is unacceptable. Utterly ridiculous. I am sure they will give some excuse..but hey not at last minute after the car is due to be delivered. Just my luck la I guess

To be fair, the car that he and me(I got the car in 3 working days btw) bought is already in their stockyard ie behind their service center. Maybe Cergaz do not stock cars hence the 2 weeks lead time.
*
I am being fair. Its ready stock. The car was in the showroom only AP not paid. Now I just spoke to the manager, he said that the car due for delivery today failed its PDI check. Which is weird since it can pass puspakom check and onbly fail on the day its due to be registered? God, they really do things last minute huh? And secondly, it does not bode well for me to know that hmmm a car can fail its PDI check in Malaysia while it can pass its PDI check at Wolfsburg. Unfortunately the manager thinks I am a complete sucker...not knowing I used to work for Honda (UK) Manufacturing, and try to pull a fast one say got defect. I think I am being bypass for someone else. Should I just make a fuss out of it and take this lying down or should I just cancel the order since it leaves a bad taste already.

hahaha..and I thought buying P1 and P2 only face this shit.
A car can fail local PDI for many reasons, most commonly is that it sustained damage during transit, ie scratches, or salt spray. Could even be things like mismatched rims or wrong spec headunit...lotsa reasons. happens all the time
If the car fail those there is no need to change car right? Simple touch up or change components can do liao lo. Mine change car wei...change whole car!! doh.gif

But if u dont trust them...then can be just the dealer screwing you also...
*
Most likely lo... dealer screw me. Manager said electrical fault. WTF? If so how to pass puspakom check..or PDI at Wolfsburg. Somemore manager said no worries we change your car..just like that..so easy ah..AP no need to pay puspakom no need to check...can settle in 2 days wor. Kanasai I worried maybe they give me show room car le..so fast. Since the showroom colour same with my choice. How to check whether it is a brand new or show room ah? Looks like I better check kau kau before I collect the car.

Still not a very good beginning experiance with VW. Hope that it only gets better. But bottom line.. I would avoid Cergaz in future.. was thinking of getting passat CC for myself ..not anymore I guess. sad.gif
