As I said above in my post .... Normally the Batteries being a consumable part is not cover by warranty. Please note the VW 5-year Warranty T&C above. However in Climacool case if the first SC at Jalan Ipoh is correct and that the radio drained his battery then its a car defect. if its proven car defect then the battery should be replaced. Lets see if the SC can find the problem lor.
From the FAQ
Q. What is the 5-year warranty programme?
A. Volkswagen is proud to announce its new 5-year warranty programme with unlimited mileage. This programme is an extension of the manufacturer’s warranty. Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) manufacturer’s warranty period is for 2 years. With this programme, VGM is extending the warranty period to an additional 3 years, which is to commence immediately upon the expiry of the 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.
The warranties are one and the same.

I think we are not on the same page. I know what you meant by warranty yada yada..same T&Cs for 2 years and the 3 years extended coverage.
IMHO...warranty is warranty. Black and white of obligations, liabilities and so on. To me there is what called implied warranty. Implied as in not written but accepted. It is an accepted fact that a normal batt last at least 1 year (its bosch for god sake!!). So, Climacool's lasted 8 months. IMHO VW should have just replaced it rather than trying to find a loop hole to avoid replacing. Yes it is that simple. No point arguing till the cows come home on warranty..yada yada. Its called merchantable quality...a legitimate expectation by the customer to believe that the product is able to perform its intended use within its normal shelf life.
So, my guess since you didnt answer my hypothectical question like xenon lights buring after 1 month or wipers failing after 3 months, I take it that you will just replace it yourself. Well that is your perogative, but I believe many VW customers here feel otherwise.
Thanks
