Hopefully I am allowed to open a thread for myself to get comment and advice from people.
Firstly, I am currently 22 year old, about 172cm +/- height and 89kg +/-. I used to be 78kg when I was 19 year old, that was about 3 years back when the first time I got myself a girlfriend. I gain a lot of weight after 3 years due to my unstable living lifestyle and foods. Now, I am really tired of carrying my big-fat-tummy. About 6 months back, I was 92kg and then cut down to 89kg because of part time job in Starbucks.
Here are some questions, can I lose weight and keep a good living lifestyle by doing the task below?
- Take yogurt drink two meals per day, 700ml per meal. (lunch and dinner) - More veggies and fruits, less meat and oily food. - Walking on the beach daily, or somewhere near my house, for at least more than 30 minutes.
I am a type of guy that very stubborn. I know that we need to eat more healthy food and exercise more, in order to burn more calories than gaining calories per day. I don't really like to go to gym or hiking, maybe because of don't have partner.
In other hand, I am afraid by doing all these above will affect me in terms of mentality and physical because I am currently taking BSc. course and there are a lot of works.
Any better advice?

QUOTE(badutman @ Dec 13 2010, 11:14 AM) oec88, u r killing ur body, sir. eat frequently (healhty). i presume ur yogurt drink has low-fat advertisement (which if u look at the ingredient, most probably having high sugar/carb percentages). go with plain white yogurt if u love yogurt. browse tru Health&Fitness thread, n u may found several tips on proper nutrition. walk as much as (and as fast) you can for time being. at least u r walking out rather than couching. when time came that u feel u need to 'upgrade' ur workout, do cycling o even jogging. but do hear me; cycling, or walking or whatever workout if u do alone, u need to have strrrong determination+discipline. that's y many join gym bcoz of motivation that they get from others' workout (at least to me). btw, u lose from 92kg to 89kg due to work in Starbucks or the other way around? on the other note, exercising will not negatively affect ur study, but u r gaining much more than that = less sleepy, energetic (with proper nutrient), more focus, less stress etc. there's nothing to lose for. try for a month a share your result with us There's no other way around when working in Starbucks, just do every task that ordered by them in the store, can say we as Baristas almost do everything in the store except ordering and counting money. About food, I eat as usual, rice, noodle and etc. QUOTE(vinesh22 @ Dec 13 2010, 09:34 PM) - Take yogurt drink two meals per day, 700ml per meal. (lunch and dinner)Have u even asked yourself how and why this could possibly help u before posting this question here?- More veggies and fruits, less meat and oily food.More veggies and fruits will definitely play a part in maintaining a healthy diet, but will definitely do nothing for your weight loss if your calorific intake supersedes your calories burned daily. Less oily food is the way to go, in fact, no oily food at all most of the time won't kill ya' mate, just give it a try. Less meat is DEFINITELY out of the picture, because that's where u get bulk of your protein source. Eating parts like thighs/wings/backside is hands down a big no no.- Walking on the beach daily, or somewhere near my house, for at least more than 30 minutes. Uhm, have u tried something called jogging before? If you're worried about people looking at u jogging on the beach, my advice is to not give a shit. I jog ON the beach each time I don't go to the gym where my beloved treadmill is. If you're planning to JOG, then yes, the 30mins will somehow help, but if u wanna walk, then sorry my friend, u can just be the other guy who stares at those beach bods and thinks low of him/herselfI am a type of guy that very stubborn I know that we need to eat more healthy food and exercise more, in order to burn more calories than gaining calories per day. I don't really like to go to gym or hiking, maybe because of don't have partner. How many times have u actually tried going to the gym by yourself dude? If you're always gonna wait for someone else to push u in life, you're gonna end up NOWHERE, trust me. I'm not some bloody philosopher or anything, but facts are facts. People have done the same mistakes before, now that u know how to get past them, why not give it a shot? No use sitting in a corner and feeling depressed or sad over matters YOU can easily take control of!In other hand, I am afraid by doing all these above will affect me in terms of mentality and physical because I am currently taking BSc. course and there are a lot of works. Oh for phucks sake dude, don't give us the "I'm taking a degree in/working as a blablabla" excuse because quite frankly, no one here really cares and neither should you! If you're smart enough to be doing a degree right now, u undeniably should have the common sense to know what u can and cannot do. I'd like to add to SydG's example and tell u that I know some people, relatives in fact, who are reading medicine abroad and locally, and still manage to find time for workouts, at the gym, or at home. Heck, I've got friends who are working on oil rigs for that matter, in the middle of the ocean in a freaking jumpsuit, in our LOCAL weather, who still find time to pump iron when they're free. U wanna talk about being mentally exhausted? Try staring at a map, sky and the sea for 3hours straight 6000ft above the surface of the Earth while making sure the 2000000000000000000 buttons around u don't start flashing and listening out for instructions from people who are going through the same predicament at the time! ... Do I get frustrated?, uhm YES!.. Do I whine about it?, LOL, I'd rather be channeling all that stress through dead lifts for all I care. I know what its like to be in Uni, all the assignments, deadlines and exams are without doubt stressful, but if u can manage your time properly and WANT TO MAKE A CHANGE, u will surely be able to.Any better advice? That's all I've got mate, its up to u whether u wanna take it or not. Just sharing some experiences that would HOPEFULLY help u make up your mind on what you're gonna do next. Typed this whole thing hoping it would somehow or another help u out, so yeah, cheers and good luck I guess. Alright, I got the answer from you and it gives me at least some motivation to move myself. I only a little bit about losing weight, the main concern is about "eat right, work right." So the proper way is, food control is still a must, don't miss out meat because of it is protein provider, workout is another way to burn calories in order to lose fat. Am I right?
