QUOTE(Exosinnerz @ Nov 19 2010, 04:55 AM) Guys, just wanted to know if its effective to burn fat using exercise striders? Been using it for a month+ now by making myself to stride on it for 1 hour or 30 minutes daily. After ur month+ with strider, how do u c urself, any +ve changes? IMHO, if u stride 90m on lowest resistance n lowest speed, i doubt there's high percentages of fat burning. instead, u may exercise on fat burning mode, or, furthermore, u may include tabata or HIIT method in ur WO. |

Exosinnerz, firstly congrats on ur little-fat lost
normally on exercise machine stated 'fat burn' which is around 65% of ur heart rate, while interval aims for 80-90% heart rate. for example, if ur age is 32-years-young, ur BPM = 220 - 32 = 188. 65% of 190 is 122 (round up) and 90% of 188 is 169. some ppl do take into consideration on stride per minutes, heart etc etc. but given the meter is spoiled, u hv no other choice but to ditch above calculation (unless u want to buy heart rate meter gadget). just tabata on strider as long as u can while my knowledge might not accurate, u may google up for deeper understanding. |

i mean do cardio based workout, ie run, jog, bike, elliptical, cross-training, skipping and such.
interval cardio, any cardio based workout which has both easy and hard level (google HIIT aka high intensity interval training). various pace/incline = change ur running speed / elevation angle. on recovery days, do weight training that doesn't stress ur leg. ie do upper body workout. pre-WO = eat before workout. post-WO = eat after workout. |

oec88,
u r killing ur body, sir. eat frequently (healhty). i presume ur yogurt drink has low-fat advertisement (which if u look at the ingredient, most probably having high sugar/carb percentages). go with plain white yogurt if u love yogurt. browse tru Health&Fitness thread, n u may found several tips on proper nutrition. walk as much as (and as fast) you can for time being. at least u r walking out rather than couching. when time came that u feel u need to 'upgrade' ur workout, do cycling o even jogging. but do hear me; cycling, or walking or whatever workout if u do alone, u need to have strrrong determination+discipline. that's y many join gym bcoz of motivation that they get from others' workout (at least to me). btw, u lose from 92kg to 89kg due to work in Starbucks or the other way around? on the other note, exercising will not negatively affect ur study, but u r gaining much more than that = less sleepy, energetic (with proper nutrient), more focus, less stress etc. there's nothing to lose for. try for a month a share your result with us |
