that y we are asking you for ur requirement of ur car......comfort?power?style?
if you need more power...city will be the choice.....i drove my frs city and swift before, indeed city have better power, especially when you really dare to tekan the pedal, vtec will blow swift away....

Actually I am a Honda fan, but Swift is not a bad car too, although the interior is rather dull.
But If u want spirited driving, best go for Swift, gives better performance than VTEC IMO.
But if u want for smoothness, spacious and don't really mind the performance, go for City.

because city is so small, the rear seat can nicely fit 2 teenage/adult and 1 small kids only.. then the front seat also cramp with limited leg space.. vios even worst doh.gif
there was once i drove my city vtec with 5 adults go up genting.. struggling like hell, but not the car, is the passenger laugh.gif

gen2 1.6 auto i got no comment as i never drove any of those.. so far all the campro i tried is a manual one including iafm and the cps..
btw, under power compared to what? audi tt? maserati?
u know some ppl memang anti local one no matter how great the thing is..
if u give them a vvti engine in gen2 shell and let them test drive without them knowing, u probablt get "under power" as answer also tongue.gif

if you are single. definitely a swift. Much more power than a city even tho the city has vtec and the swift has the 4speed gear box. Its still better than the slow cvt gearbox. Most important, swift got platform to mod. Can change to swift sport manual box if you get tired of your auto.

City, err...keep it for your mother to drive la.

Hi

Before you want to get your self a City 2005 please make sure the gear oil is well maintain if not you buy a faulty gear when problem come you need to spend 10 - 15 k for the gear box not sure about kedai potong.

Than you complain that honda cvt is useless.

For swift i dont have any comment because i see recently market demand is very high.
The price for second start to grow.

1.5 Swift Driver here,

Remember don't get first batch CKD swift around 2007,as they tried to cut cost by using alot more local parts, end up issue with steering rack.

Normal service without include engine oil around RM80(Labour + service replacement parts)

I am too young to drive, but the car that i ususally ride in is a early 2008 Swift 1.5 pre-facelift (lights and bumper are different), meaning that it looks like the imported model but is CKD. I am a car nut (and a computer geek, thats why i joined LYN) and I am quite informative about cars. My Swift has some rattles here and there and the rear legroom is just acceptable (I am nearly 6 ft tall). It will be the car that i will drive when I get a license in few months. I like it though. For your notice, the car that the Swift replaced is an Waja Campro without IAFM and CPS. The Proton really felt underpowered because I always heard the engine straining when it hits 4k rpm.

It just means the other models will be using 80% imported parts than the first batch ckd.

Do remember to do basic check on the car as well as test drive too smile.gif

My dad just changed the brake pads few weeks ago. Not alot of problem, just some small rattles here and there. How is your local dealer? The dealer in Ipoh is quite bad.

i will choose CITY for practicality, big boot is a must for me, as i travel often, carry a lot of big/long things. I'll choose swift if i still single, but honestly, on stock, swift got more gaya than city lah.

By the way, i own a honda city vtec 2005. so far so good, no problem at all. Odo reach nearly 140,000km, but the engine works very very well. Past 5 years, i just changed battery 3 times, and last 3 months, the rear left absorber was broken. Considering the way i trash my car, i could say, city is a very reliable/practical car, worth every sen spent. smile.gif

Suzuki swift is a good car. Power is sufficient. Handling wise it is very good as Fifth Gear has tested the swift sport with a mini cooper on a track and it only lose to the mini by about 2 seconds only (if i'm not mistaken). But in terms of space, Honda City will win as the Swift is quite small on the inside. City engine has a little bit more power than the Swift.

My city cvt gearbox works like champ lor, no complaint so far. Maintenance fee is not expensive lah, less than RM200 each , but depend on what u change lah. Last time service on 120,000km, i paid around RM380.00 including changing aircond thingy, the aircond not cool then cool then not cool again case. i use city for long trip also no problem at all, from KT to Sabak Bernam a few time a month. On highway speed up to 180km/h also no prob, but need very long road and takes time and not stable.. yawn.gif FC full tank on highway can go more than 650km, in city much much less than that.

i never drive a swift before, but i do have friends who love swift very very much. They are the classy, smart, elegant youngster, not like me, selekeh only.. laugh.gif

By the way, i just handed over my CT to my wife, and get myself a pickup, suit me better. Real man drive 4x4 manual bro, baru macho.. tongue.gif

I am a City Vtec 2007 nov driver. My gf driving a myvi, my mum is driving a proton persona. I didn't drive Swift before.
About Swift i like the exterior so much. it very nice.
But if u tell me city vtec will lose to suzuki swift i rather bet my city with ur swift.(except suzuki swift sport) we can race at genting highlands or even anywhere.
if u said city slow or so called vtec i need to ask do u know how to drive honda city? u know what is CTV gearbox? if u dont know how to use please shut up lar. i always drive my gf myvi easily stick with my friend suzuki swift as well. but myvi dont even can stick my backside lo.
about persona, iafm campro engine not bad compare to my city, below 100km/h i will pick up faster, when 100~160km/h i think persona faster, but persona end up maximum speed without air-cond i tried is 180km/h. my city i try without air-cond can go for 190km/h.
this is just my sharing with u guys.
thank you.

Added on August 17, 2010, 2:27 amAnother sharing,
I drive my city 2007 VTEC, from genting highlands toll (i mean the rm5) to resort hotel. i only take 19min to arrive.

but i really didnt use city to race with swift before. but last time i always drive my gf myvi race with my friend swift at genting highlands, if i no mistaken he slower than me 5min to arrive.

It's only applicable for Premium spec.
- Bodykit(not sport bodykit)
- V-Kool Elite Tint
- Leather seat
But actually you can choose cheapest one with RM73,788.00 and install Sport bodykit with add on Rm2.5k+.
By the way, 2010 Audio is cooler than previous one. thumbup.gif
I got mine last March 2010 with 2.5% Interest.

Pick your car which suit to yourself. Never think to buy a car to 'tapau' any car.
Drive safely, remember your beloved person.

hey nd3527, i just booked a swift myself somewhere last week. White colour but i took the premium specs. I wanted black initially but white looks good with the bodykit.

I'm contemplating now whether i should take the premium package or the basic package. I took the premium package because i wanted to save the hassle of doing the bodykit, leather seat and tint outside. After seeing the bodykit breakdown above, i'm thinking biggrin.gif

Btw, my RHB interest is 3.15%.

The usual advise is to do bodykit/accessories outside instead of SA as those area are the place where they profit from you smile.gif

How much can be saved if it's done outside for the tint, bodykit and leather seat? Warranty void if we do those on our own?

The tint i remember him saying V kool elite (80+% rejection) and another layer of security film. Bodykit should be 5 pieces including spoiler and leather seat with the "S" logo.

I recently got a swift and did my first service in the Puchong sc. They asked me to use 4.2L of engine oil. I called up MOFAZ in Damansara and they said use only 4L. Can someone help me understand what is the correct amount to use? *confused*

It's 4L. For first or second service, can use their oil. After that, go for Motul H-Tech 100Plus(Rm165) or Torco SR-1 if you got extra bucks. brows.gif

Wah it's only 4L eh. This means I got cheated by that Puchong service center! Dammit - summore the SA from USJ also said can put 4L or 4.2L. Damn!

I wanna start pouring fullly syn from 10k service onwards. I wanted to get the Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 (coz I can get abit cheaper). Any other recomendations? What viscosity is best?

If you're heavy footed, go for 5w-40. So, you can rev-up to redline.
If you're auntie like driver, go for 5w-30. FC is quite good. Can get 400-450km at city and 450-500km for highway.
Soon you'll notice, once you rev-up. Burnt smell come out from aircond.
Torco SR-1 or Motul 300v can get rid of this. But its expensive. biggrin.gif

I have the same xperience like yours, scouting for 2nd hand swift and jazz but end up with new swift, right now maybank offer 2.85%, + year end RM2.5k discount + ncd so I need to pay around RM5k with a pre-calculation mnthly payment RM756.

used swift rate 4.2% to 4.5%, aprox. same amount of d/p and monthly payment

so new swift is the best choice so far , I guess 4 2nd car is not bad, new jazz, mazda2, ford fiesta , all xpensive.
