Which online site are you ordering from?
*
crucial.com website has their own online store.
just stay away from all SATA3 SSDs from OCZ which is ruined by BSOD/hangs issue. sad.gif

Actually we ordered from BHphoto.com.  Its cheaper than the crucial site.
*
AHH that's a lot cheaper. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Sep 4 2011, 09:37 PM)
Again, I reiterate, to offer a differentiating view. I've been using OCZ's Vertex 3 SATA 3 SSD, and I have nothing but smooth sailing here. I'll be the first to admit its shittiness if it is as what you described.

Good for u bro u're the lucky one.

Order should be shipped tomorrow. Verification department had some minor issue verifying my address but all should be good now. I'd imagine 3 days to get here and stuck in custom for 2 days. So the parcel should be here Friday/Saturday (if they deliver on sat).

It's more or less an intel 510 with better firmware. First thing we need to do after getting the drives is update it to 009 tongue.gif

QUOTE(KatiePelly @ Sep 4 2011, 11:51 PM)
I'd do one or two benches then update it, just to feel a little more satisfied smile.gif
*
cant wait to see how fast they can deliver the SSD.
Actually i've never heard about this BHphoto.com site before so I'm doubt about its reliability. nod.gif

Neither have I, but it is listed on the price compare website next tag.  Should be fine.  Think its relatively unknown coz its mainly a photography site, not a general IT site like newegg

Bhphoto is an extremely well known photographic equipment store in NYC. It is the biggest superstore in NY. I've bought over 15k worth of photographic equipments from them.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Sep 5 2011, 05:09 AM)
BHPhoto is a very reliable store, primary located in New York. I've been to their physical store in Manhattan, their stocks are very well organized, and retrieved via sophisticated warehouse-like delivery system from their storage space to the retrieval counter. Their assistants are very knowledgable and knows their stuff well, and will recommend items for purchase depending on budget given.

The other side of the coin is J&R, also in Manhattan, NY. Large chain store, but planted salesperson who don't know their stuff.

I can vouch for BHPhoto, they are very reliable and professional. It's a matter of whether you are willing to wait for shipment to be shipped from NY to Malaysia.
*
thanks for the inputs.
So I've placed order 4pcs of 128gb from this BHPhoto. thumbup.gif

Sry if this had been asked before, pls advice on how to CLONE an existing window on HDD to my new SSD?
i have multiple HDD, should i disconnect all and juz connect SSD n an HDD when performing the cloning/restoring from SSD?

TQVM biggrin.gif
*
use Norton Ghost, no need to remove other storage devices when cloning as they are not affected.
I always did mine on bootable Ghost disc out of windows.

Nice results!
*
Yalor in fact these results are taken on a loaded volume. 76% occupied yo. But sth wrong with the latency which is a lil bit higher than manufacturer spec for single <0.1ms.

I think 128GB x 2 is not enough for me. Adobe CS is not installed yet.

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Sep 10 2011, 08:39 AM)
Gila itu results hahah !

i tot he bought 4 units to do 4x Raid 0 whistling.gif
*
LOL... My current mobo is lack of 2 more SATA ports to do 4X raid0. Cant wait for X79 hehe.

QUOTE(KatiePelly @ Sep 10 2011, 08:49 AM)
Holy crap, look at the 4k write results, how'd did it get more than twice as fast of a single drive?
*
I tweaked my win7 a lil bit by turning off few services eg. Superfetch, Disk Defrag etc...

Must install Intel IRT driver to achieve this result.

It's not a single drive to begin with lol.

Actaully the drive is faster than the vertex 2. I only get WEI of 7.4 with an almost fully loaded vertex 2, I'm getting 7.9 with the M4 biggrin.gif

Added on September 10, 2011, 11:17 amIf you give up a GPU, you can get a supermicro raid card and raid 8 drives. brows.gif Raid card itself is only Rm300+

can get a revodrive liao
thanks but i think i will be happier with the upcoming X79 in 2 months later

Intel SSDs to get SandForce

QUOTE
Might even acquire them
Our sources close to Intel told us Intel has been considering using SandForce controllers for some of its high end SSD drives for quite some time now.

SandForce was a part of IDF showing its drives from AMP Inc., OCZ technology, Patriot Memory, SuperTalent & Unigen. Intel drives are still kept secret.

Intel sources even suggested that the chipmaker might acquire this smart little company, but we remember when we asked OCZ about acquisition of SandForce, they said that it was simply too expensive and that licensing makes more sense. So we don't believe that Intel will acquire this controller making manufacturer and that just as everyone else, it plans to use the controllers and make its drives much faster.

Intel has some state of the art MLC and SLC drives and with SandForce, it can make them even faster.

Source

Don't know whether it is a good or bad news. hmm.gif
