So SandForce has officially identified the BSOD bug, and released some firmware. OCZ is getting it first.

hope this can really solve the problems for good

Good news if it is true that the latest FW will fix the BSOD bug since it's been a year after the launch.

I'm going to grab some SF-based SSDs if it's fixed.

Hello all,

I am building a new PC for the coming Diablo3. Is it a good idea to have a SSD as the booting drive (windows 7) and a HDD for storage? The game file (Diablo 3 ) will be installed at the SSD.

Any recommendation for SSD brand and size? Do I need any controller card to install the SSD? Are those new motherboard support SSD? How do you mount the SSD inside the casing? As usual like what we mount the current HDD?

Thanks in advance.
*
yes it is a good idea to use ssd as boot drive and put your games on it. but it wont increase the fps only making the load time a bit shorter.
yes u can use hdd as storage . if u ask me i wud recommend intel ssd 80gb for stability. but then again its up to you. u dont have to buy controller card to enjoy ssd. and yes those new mobo will support ssd.

mounting ssd depends on casing and the ssd package. some casings have ssd bracket included some dont.

guys, in your opinion, should i get corsair f90
or 64GB Crucial m4 2.5-inch SATA 6GB/s
*
depends whether u want the unpredictable sandforce(dunno if the new firmware has already fix the problem) or u want the stability of marvell.

Guys,

I am currently building a rig for working and some gaming.

I wish to know whether 80GB SSD Intel had the enough juice for all these softwares:

Necessary Software
Windows 7 Home Premium ~ 30GB ? Not sure
Microsoft Office Professional + Project + Visio ~ 1.5 GB
NI LabVIEW 2011 ~ 2GB
Solidworks 2011 ~ 4GB
PTC ProE v5 ~ 5GB
AutoCAD 2011 ~ 5GB
Other misc. apps ~ 10GB
For the software above, already used up 57.5GB, make it 60GB

Left around 20GB, is it enough for gaming apps such as:
Call of Duty
Red Alert 3
Starcraft 2
Battlefield 3
Diablo 3
Some other game with the same genre as above ?

All the pictures, documents, video, music is in HDD. Also wish to ask, what is the current market price for Intel SSD 80GB and 120GB ? is there any other brand that are recommended ?
*
thats a lot of games... u might wanna leave some space on the ssd though.

Intel 320 160gb
Host Writes  1.09 TB
Host Reads  1.51 TB

Bought on 19th June 2011

Should I be worried?
*
no worries needed.. check this forum. the 320 can write more than 600tb and still keep going. and thats only 40gb capacity while yours is 160 that 4 times larger.

hey guys,

currently which model is the most stable? Or are they all the same? I looked through a few pages back and some forumers said Intel's 80gb comes highly recommended.

Also, one thing i realised, the same 120gb can vary differently in terms of price and performance. Are performance and stability equally as important?

Im interested in either 80gb or 120gb. Hope to get most bang for buck.

Thanks!
*
i wud go for stability. and intel and marvell are good. but since sandforce has already came out with new firmware that is said to have fixed the bsod problems u might wanna check it out also. maybe some of sandforce users with problems before who have tried this firmware can confirm?
