hydra,with the speed upgrade removed from BW,was almost completely useless against fast-moving terran bio (marines n marauders)..cant be used to close in on sieged tanks, easily bbq-d by BFH,no extra dmg versus thors,only nearly speed equivalent to banshees when on creep,had to get a bunch of them to quickly snipe battlecruisers...
plus,the cost of making a bunch of those hydras where u cant really harass terran with it makes them almost out of favor in ZvT.

such expensive,fragile units

protoss - some melee units available
terran - only 1 melee unit

n to tech to colo,it takes quite some time.you wouldnt face a toss user who pushes out with colo without extended thermal lance. terran? some handful of marines will do the job quite nicely..oh,did i ever mention ghosts can 2-shot hydras?

escalate into ultralisk to tank the damage from siege tanks..
or u can just use infested terran eggs to tank the dmg
do ling split if u see terran do marine stutter-step

but it is too APM-intensive,especially when they got u cornered

baneling nest is a must,so that opponent forced to make rauders,not marines
this in turn,reduces the number of marines available on the field.not much,but it'll certainly help a bit

then,make a proxy spire.hide them well,& estimate the rally points of dropship play.make as much mutas as possible,hide them well. +1 mutas are much effective.

oh,get cracklings (lings with adrenal glands..hive tech) & drop them at their base.it'll be a nice distraction.let them taste their own drop-play medicine..

generally i go for lair at 7-9 minute mark
just held off the 1st push by them

but i also will, on rare occasion, go for a 3 minute lair if i sense heavy gas build opener by the opponent & an engy bay by terran
a sure indicator of Ketroc's Planetary Fortress build with mass ravens (look it up on youtube,u'll see what I mean)
