INSTALLING THE UPDATE WILL WIPE YOUR ROOT AND YOU MAY NEVER BE ABLE TO ROOT AGAIN.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...621#post7417621

Added on August 1, 2010, 9:24 pmn looks like froyo only use 400+MB or ram only hmm.gif
*
or ram only? what do u mean? if u mean of ram only so it would be a hell lacking of free ram left =="

QUOTE(KTCY @ Aug 1 2010, 09:24 PM)
His phone is already ROOT that's why when he installed the new update, he can't finish it but pop out with error.
He need to unroot the phone (if not mistaken) so that can continue the update.

And yeah, he will lose the root after official update laugh.gif
*
not due to root i guess.. as some rooted unit can be updated and instantly wiped the root out when its done.. im not even quite sure since ive never did an OTA btw for android

sry,typo
ya,is "of" RAM

and ya,u can update with ur rooted device but u might not get back to root after updated...
*
400MB of ram? yeah.. since eclair isnt it? the rest of RAM is reserved for system task, gpu n such if im not wrong.. i read bout it somewhere since a part of the 576MB of the desire is not actually went lost, it is reserved automatically by the system. Not sure bout the galaxy S as i heard that they r saying that that device still cant allocate the full amount of RAM due to OS but maybe its automatically reserved just like on the desire. Some already tweaked and managed to gain a lil part up to 3xMB of RAM via kernel tweaks if im not wrong

Noticed LeeDroid released 1.6a, if I update from 1.6 to 1.6a, do I need to backup data? Flashing rom will cause loss of data or not?
*

Its stated there no wipe needed for leedroid users "No Wipe for LeeDrOiD users.... Everyone needs an EXT3 Partion at the end of their SD Card
If you are coming from anything other than a LeeDrOiD Mod a Full wipe is recommended" tongue.gif

Pretty much a stock Desire Sense with Froyo 2.2 + Busybox

I just got Maps [brut] installed with voice navigation  thumbup.gif

great to see u joining the "darkside" btw rclxms.gif. You should have a try at Neophyte and Leedroid roms. They both are very active at updating and considered the rom of the people. They follow up with users request and done some customizing a lil bit (except on neophyte which is using the expressobar mod). Both have done well releasing good sense froyo rom since the froyo leak.

Downloading Leedroid 1.7 now... maybe I should give it a try later

With phone rooted and new radio installed, I guess I just need to run titanium backup, nandroid backup and flash the ROM, then restore titanium backup right?

If I don't really need A2SD+, i don't really have to partition my SD card right?
*
Hold on a lil bit more i guess dude b4 flashing to Leedroid, there is not much thing included yet. Its a fresh build by Leedroid based on the new official froyo rom. It will get better day by day i must say. Just keep checking at both of the devs (leedroid and neophyte). No harm trying leedroid now but i guess its not much different "yet" compared to the ones ur using. Have a look at the old froyo sense rom by these two developers and you will see the progress from them and the changelogs which is quite impressive i must say showing and proving their commitment at ROM developing. So many improvements and fixed time by time. That is just what we need from a ROM, support and fixes.

Try a2sd+, it is a great feature which perhaps all rooted user will use, definitely! Native a2sd wont do much compared to a2sd+ as even on froyo a2sd, you will run out of space too. Ive tried froyo a2sd previously but i still dying on internal space later after installing games and apps. I cant confirm that you dont have to, need someone else to confirm this one or u can try also asking on that thread since its still early in the morning here so not much users will be reading ur response now. Some rom with a2sd might just work without the ext3 partition but do have a check on that to avoid boot loops which i saw happened to a few users skipping partitioning their SD. Maybe its due to rom specific either it works with unpartitioned or not.

Really starting to envy those who can just root at will. I'm giving HTC till the end of Aug. No OTA by then, I shall root.
Nice pics btw, samurai1337 added u on flickr lol biggrin.gif
*
No harm at waiting at all smile.gif Keep ur hands tied to ur chair btw i must say, it sure will get itchy to root.. haha

deodexed rom means you can change the interface or indication of sense ui
[attachmentid=1709268]
you can notice some indicators looks different like battery....
This is the use of deodexed, but i dont know how to do it~~ tongue.gif
If not mistake need to change the png file contain the indicator with the png file you want for the indicator then flash the rom,....never try...
*
i believe that can be changed via flashing the corresponding mod file via recovery or the mod is already contained in the particular custom ROM.

have a look at here :

[MOD][3rd-Aug] Super Circle Battery with % |Version A & B| Desire Froyo/Eclair ROM
Smooth Sense Icons v.1.0 by Jercik
There are a few more on XDA, look at the android development thread and also htc desire applications and theme section

Im not very good at this but based on my learnings, the mod works on certain ROMs only since it depends on the framework the rom is using since some are modded so the same mod file cant be applied to all custom rom. In case u wanna have that new icon/mod on the top bar, u can request and some particular modders then asks u for the framework-res.apk for the particular rom since it would really be a help apart from them downloading the whole rom and check the framework-res.apk. just only "for you".

Avoid gambling, be sure at what you are flashing and read comments and search for feedbacks by other users is my advice on this. The easiest way is, just flash a custom ROM which fits u the best in terms of ui apart on the total performance itself. Find a custom rom which fulfills most of ur desire and being balanced apart from UI and performance. biggrin.gif

I had succesfully created an ext partition. Thanks a lot bro Draco for your advice. Now, I have another question, how do I verify that the apps are installed in the SDCard?
*
download Quick system info app from the market (its free) and u can see ur A2SD storage status. It will go down when u install apps but take in mind that some apps when even installed to the SD, it would partially (minorly) eat up internal phone storage but its much wayyy better than froyo native A2SD.

QUOTE(volcane @ Aug 4 2010, 07:33 PM)
What application / step need to to restore all call history, sms, apps + setting if I flash to another ROM? Titanium Backup?

Sorry for asking simple question, my Android experience only 5 days.
*
Titanium backup and mybackup pro smile.gif Im using my backup pro for now since it has a simpler UI but titanium backup does the same job too, i believe on the pro version of titanium backup, backup and restoring data and apps is much faster compared to free. Have a try at both and see which one suits u. Mybackup has a free trial version on the market while titanium backup has a full free version

I flashed 3.4, 3.4a is out, then 4.0 is out again this morning  laugh.gif

I am running a underclocked version of NextSense (806Mhz) - it still feels fast for most operations, only lower fps for quadrant test (doesn't matter to me as I don't play 3D games much). Don't know how much battery it would save yet, will update if there's significant boost in battery life smile.gif
Yeah, it's fast for now but I guess it will slow down some time soon once all the bugs are fixed
*
Droid X and iphone 4 has 1ghz processor but both are underclocked to 800+-Mhz only. Im not good at this part but i guess 800Mhz went just fine. Benchmarks arent so that important to real life. Imagine a page loading less a second from usual it does, u perhaps blinked ur eye and forgot how late that was.. lol.. in real life, such difference is not so that significant. Havent tried playing PSX4droid on 800mhz yet, if it works just fine, perhaps ill stick with it smile.gif

owh, i forgot another part, eventhough those phones are underclocked, they run under PowerVR chips which does not seem to be a problem when cpu is underclocked. Snapdragon and adreno combinations works so not that good i guess..

/facepalm

They both (neo + leo) seems like doing very great for now. Too bad satenza01 left desire for galaxyS.. His SetROM custom rom was very powerful and superb indeed i must say

Good info to know, I thought so too as I'm not a speed freak

Mind explaining more on the bold part?
*
Htc Desire, Nexus one, Incredible, Evo 4G runs on Snapgradon 1Ghz with adreno GPUs. Droid X (TI OMAP 1ghz) and Iphone 4 (A4 1Ghz) uses PowerVR GPU (graphic processing unit) chip. PowerVR is much superior compared to our adreno in the snapdragon. Eventhough both of that phones are downclocked to a lower clock than 1ghz, both still is capable of of running graphic intensive games. See MotoDroid/Milestone, that phone is clocked to 550mhz but still produce decently good graphics.

Im not quite sure bout this either but i heard that some UI transitions are based on GPU acceleration. Same goes to video rendering, that shows why snapdragons does not natively support xvids and super compressed video formats. Ram is also auto allocated for cpu and gpu process and that is why we arent seeing 576MB total ram and above 400MB free, it seems like its auto allocated for system and hardware process.

Ah thanks...

seems like HTC is running somewhat inferior hardware, although I am not too concerned about mobile 3D gaming.

Have a read on the link below if anyone is interested to know about snapdragon chips and the "upcoming" snapdragon which is rumored to be 1.2-1.5Ghz or perhaps running on dual core. Worth a read, it even performs slightly higher on benchmark compared to galaxy S (that specific benchmark, not a total overall performance for now we know).
