I am going to flash my LeeDroid 1.6 to NextSense by Neophyte. Looking at the topic in xda-developer forum, not many viewers / replies to this NextSense version of Froyo, is there? Should I? Anyone using it would like to comment?

Ok, since this is a reflash from LeeDroid 1.6 to NextSense 5.1, I dont need to root my phone again (since its rooted already), yes?

I just have to backup with Titanium backup and do the following:
-Enter to recovery, do a Wipe Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik, format/wipe partition Ext2, 3 or 4.
-Flash my ROM (If you have already last Radio you only have to install the rom Without Radio, and if not, install With Radio or separately).
-Flash new radio
-Run new ROM

correct?

Oh I see, Nandroid backup the current ROM image. I was on LeeDroid 1.6. I dont plan on moving back, can I skip Nandroid? Which I already did... But then after I did the "wipe data / factory reset", I saw Nandroid and hit it. It back up something to my sdcard but I'm not sure if its still meaningful.

Ok, I tried to "Wipe Dalvik Cache" and "Wipe Battery Stats" but it doesnt seem to work. The phone just flash / blink into the first option "- Reboot recovery"

Did that mean it already wipe? Because when we select anything, it will show status / description in white at bottom saying ting like Formatting CACHE... Cache Wipe Complete. But it didnt for Dalvik and Batt Stats.

Guys, after flashing to NextSense 5.1 (before the radio), I rebooted it and now it's showing some red, green, blue, yellow thingie like how you boot up a Win 7 PC... Is this normal? Finallly, got to the main screen. Going to flash radio now.

Titanium Backup doing the restore part is a big headache especially since I have 214 item to restore. Cant this be automated?

One more question about Titanium Backup. Example if we were to backup an older version of app included in the ROM, e.g. People / Gallery / Photo / Youtube player. Wouldnt I be restoring an old one to this new ROM?

samurai1337,
thanks for your replies. Some system app from LeeDroid 1.6 will overwrite the system app on this NextSense 5.1. Is it something I should be worried about? Possibly some system app is old version?

Ya man... the idea of clicking so many times just freaks me out
If that's the case don't let it overwrite - whatever in NextSense 5.1 should be newer in version compare to LeeDroid 1.6, facebook and GOogle Maps for instance
*
How to dont let it overwrite when there was not prompt. It only prompt for app that I install via APK / Market. Haih... maybe later re-flash the NextSense 5.1 ROM. Which backup option should I select to let it backup apps EXCLUDING system app?

Titanium backup dont backup our Contacts eh? Luckily got backup, else cry. I lost my scenes and smses... cry.gif

PROBLEM DETECTED! - All the apps that was restored is not showing up properly as INSTALLED when accessing Market. Example: Google Sky Map was restored but when I look at it from Market, it says it's FREE, indicating it has NOT been installed. How do I go about this?

I'm going to reflash a second time to NextSense 5.1 because I backup all system app from LeeDroid 1.6 and overwrote whatever's that included in NextSense 5.1. Can anyone suggest which backup method I choose via Titanium Backup to not include system app?

samurai1337 and KTCY,

I thought contacts should be backed-up if you run a full backup, I store my contacts in GMail, but my SMS and stuffs could be restored properly. I always do full backup

Anyway, not sure about the Market problem.. if you try to re-install one apps what would it say?
*
Everything was restored after I did a second reboot. Hahahaha... Sorry sorry, please dont kill me. I also very excited with the new OS, so right now. Everything is fine. Contacts are there. SMS are there. Installed apps via APK / Market is also listed properly.

QUOTE(KTCY @ Aug 12 2010, 04:38 PM)
@bold : My guess will be that it takes as in we install from external source. That's why it will not show at market.

Did you download from your phone directly? Some hosting like rapid share files cannot be downloaded properly. It come off as another file type. Try a computer then bluetooth over.

This post is for those of you who flash different modded ROM frequently.

Say if you are moving from one ROM to another, even though both on Froyo platform. There's probably some update on the system app, e.g. Youtube player, Contacts app, Internet etc.

For my case, I moved from LeeDroid 1.6 to NextSense 5.1. It's all good until the restoration portion where Titanium Backup restore EVERYTHING i backed-up from LeeDroid 1.6, including system app.

Hence, my NextSense 5.1 has a mixture of LeeDroid system app included.

How do I backup using Titanium Backup where it backup all user-installed app and user data only? Anyone does it differently than I do?

There is an option backup user apps with data only....then you will have backup on apps you install only...
dont include the system data~~......i did that all the time...
but remember to clear your previous backup....because if they have the record, then they will install back....
alternative way...when you restore...choose only restore user apps and apps with data.....
dont choose restore all or anything related to system data....then you will be safe...
but mind that a few apps in system data like facebook, sparepart, and so so....
anyway you can untick them when you restore from batch....
*
Right, I will give it a shot. I assuming that by not backing up system app, this also excludes system data such as my mail, my facebook account, etc from being saved? Hence, one I booted into the new rom, I probably need to reconfigure?

QUOTE(draco82 @ Aug 12 2010, 09:45 PM)
titianium cannot backup sms, mms, contact, and etc....
it only capable to backup apps and system data....
i use my backup pro to backup my sms, mms, calender and so so....
nice apps....

It can also backup your sense UI also if you lazy to recustomize it....
I tried before, it actually works but it might cause some bugs after restore where you might not able to find some widget which suppose to exist..
Some people claim that you might be able to see those widget by clearing the dalvik cache....
i found that only after i wipe and reflash my rom to get back those missing widget, so i havent try, not sure work or not... hmm.gif  hmm.gif

Can you give me a link to the Backup Pro which could backup sms, mms and calendar? Thanks for sharing.

KTCY, thank you for the links.

By the way, anyone knows if any reboot is required during flashing of new ROM? Does it matter?

-Enter to recovery, do a Wipe Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik, format/wipe partition Ext2, 3 or 4.
-Flash my ROM (If you have already last Radio you only have to install the rom Without Radio, and if not, install With Radio or separately).
-Flash new radio
-Run rom (First time takes some time to run)

I didnt reboot after I do a wipe / factory reset > wipe cache > wipe dalvik > wipe partition sd-ext > flashing NextSense 5.1 > flash the new radio........ AFTER ALL THAT BARU REBOOT!
Ok or not ah?

Flashed my Desire with NextSense 5.1 for the second time today because earlier on, I accidentally restored some system app from LeeDroid 1.6.

Now, I only restore user installed app and data. But that doesnt cover system data such as Bookmarks, Contact list, SMSes, etc. (FYI, for those who said Titanium backup dont backup all user data, it really did for me earlier on during my first flash)

NextSense 5.1 users, do you guys feel that data transfer its slower on this rom? When using LeeDroid 1.6, my house area always detect HSPDA, on NextSense 5.1, always 3G only. Anyone else notice this or is it just me?
