Need tips from all them massive big guys/girls here DX

Im 21, 162cm, and weight about 57 kg, and I am dying to burn some extra fats at my bum that is making my bottom look huge.
My upper body is tiny but its my lower that makes me look utterly huge is some sort of way XD

I am planning to build up muslces too, but I need to ask what are your basic routine? My diet is going well that I lost 3kg in a week because of burst cardio and is trying to build mass on the upper body.

This is my meal everyday.

Breakfast : Fitness cereal + 2egg half boiled + Protein shake
Lunch : Rice +chicken + fish + fruits
Tea : Green Tea + Whole grain bread
Night : Normal family dinner (mostly, meat dinner) + protein shake

babes, REAL WOMEN LIFT!! rclxms.gif welcome to the club!
no worries. its normal... we women are biologically designed and inclined to put fat on the lower belly and hips to protect the uterus and prepare for childbearing. we have wider hips and bums than men for this reason as well.

personally... i train one bodypart a day, once a week. not much cardio on manteinance phase - no more than 2 or 3 times a week... but on a cut i do cardio everyday.

since you are building upper part, do upper body exercises more like ...
chest: bench press, flys, wider dips
Back: dumbell rows, pull down, seated rows
Shoulder: raises, presses
Bicep: curl
Tricep: tricep push down, barbell barbell extension

and do some lower body exercises for strength (4-6 reps) like squat, leg curl and extension. and you can build your calf if you want. do calf raise (15-20 reps).

XD well ok this is my routine for the past 3 weeks (kinda started really... ffff XDXD ........ and huzzah for free uni gym with complete machines woohoo)

(........... BUT THEN I SAW RESULTS ON MY BICEPS OMG =D =D)

the first week before I started gym routine my weight is about 64-65kg.
Then my routine goes like this (done 5 days a week since my uni gym closes on saturday and sunday cus ppl curi dumbells, curse those mat pits D<)

Cardio (done in a stadium nearby)
Sprint 100m 3x (yeah.. im a sprinter in my old days.... explains my big old thighs. =D)

(thennnn walk down to gym about 10 minutes away)

Dumbell Rows

3.5 kg x 12
5 kg x 12
7 kg x 12
10 kg x 8

Raises

5 kg x 12 (2.5 a bell)
5 kg x 8
7 kg x 12 (3.5 a bell)
7 kg x 8

Pull down

10 kg x 12
14 kg x 12
18 kg x 10
22 kg x 8

Seated Rows

10 kg x 12
14 kg x 12
18 kg x 10
22 kg x 8

For lower body, I did squats with dumbell over shoulder (IDK WHATS THAT CALLED orz)

so its 4 reps

5 kg x 12 (2.5 a bell)
7 kg x 12 (3.5 a bell)
9 kg x 12 (4.5 a bell)
11 kg x 8 (5.5 a bell)

Mostly spend 1-2 hours in gym cus I have nothing better to do after class hahaha then go home do homework, masak clean house like every other woman does lolol.

So I guess that is what I do the most. And yeah, I got high metabolism and big appetite.

Here is how look after 2 weeks, i can see my biceps got into shape. (last time was. FLABBBBBBBBBBEEEEHHHH)

so here is my progress pics.

I dont know if this is relevant but I'm speaking from personal experience,

I was a reaaaallly skinny guy (still skinny actually), did a strength training programme and noticed some gains. However, did NOT see much gains in size especially in my arms, they were lagging, and so were other smaller muscles e.g. calf, shoulders. Point is, my strength training involving lifting heavy weights for lower reps with a lot of emphasis on squats got me growth but not much increase in size.. as compared to when I switched over to lifting for hypertrophy (regular 8-12 reps 3-4 sets) which got my arms a bit bigger so I didn't look like popeye with forearms bigger than arms..

Maybe you can try doing my compound lifts - squats, deadlifts, pullups, bench press, bent over rows.. the compound lifts build more overall muscle, which is what you need, more muscle, which will indirectly burn fat at a higher rate. The theory is more muscle, more fat burnt, over time. Clearly that your worry is that you'll have those biceps huge.. but mebe thats just during ur workout but I'm sure normal days it isnt like that... either way when your bodyfat% drops u sud look smaller overall biggrin.gif

good luck!

ps: is that a cookie monsterz (as in cookie monsterz the dance group) T?

even for a guy 3 weeks is not enough to notice much results.

personal insight biggrin.gif -

when we lose weight n lift weights... like it or not we as women will lose breast tissue cos thats all fat. if you dont mind then its fine... but if it is as issue stay away from flat/decline bench work. always start with the incline bench. i never benchpress in my regular routine cos it made my chest deflate faster than a popped balloon. so it's all dumbell work for chest. i only bench occasionally for strength purposes.

arms - you will benefit more from doing big, compound exercises opposed to isolation work. try to incorporate chin ups, pull ups, close-grip benchpress and tricep dips into your arm routine.

Hi der biggrin.gif

A caveat : Am not a bber, just a regular weight lifter currently on hiatus. Welcome to the iron world.

I personally started with strength building, compound lifts and improving techniques - mainly to avoid injuries with free weights. I'd suggest getting someone to check on your form before proceeding to add on extra plates smile.gif

As LV mentioned here, boobies shrink when you lose fat - almost all professional female physique athletes hv implants since hving lean, mean bodies with perky ta tas (Cs and above) is close to impossible.

Btw big thighs will help a lot when you're carrying extra 10kg around during pregnancy wink.gif So embrace your thighs smile.gif

There is no such thing as spot reduction.

You can do dumbell press and pullover for chest on the flat bench besides flyes. Low carb diet is the key to fat loss.

4rings is right re spot reduction... the only way to lose "extra flesh" or fats from wherever you want it is to d cardio and watch ur diet. chest/arm workouts will only tone the muscles, but if theres a thick layer of fat covering you're not gonna see any "tone" at all no matter how many curls/presses you do!

but i have very adamant views regarding chest training for myself... ive tried practially every suggestion out there in desperate attempts to keep my boobies - not training at all... no more than 2 exercises... pressing exercises only.... no cardio on chest day... etc etc etc... been there done that. so i guess ive found a routine i can finally stick to and be content with. i do lots of incline work to "boost" up the chest area and to give the impression of a higher bustline. im not gonna say 4rings suggestion of flat benching is wrong... but personally it didnt work for me and i kept more "meat" on my chest area doing just incline work and several cable and machine movements. i do heavy pullovers.. but ive been told that cos it expands the ribcage (??) and widens the chest... the fat of the breasts becomes stretched even more over a wider area... becoming more flat.

but end of the day if you want something you gotta sacrifice something else, kan =/ sadness....

imo men and women hv different bodies, different composition, tendencies to put on fat in different areas and different hormone levels.... hence training needs to be different too here and there cos the bodies respond differently.

i dono bout guys... but the NUMBER ONE boob shrinker = decline benchpress.
evil evil evil!! will never do another decline bench all my life!

not fair right... decline benching gives guys nice, sag-free and well shaped pecs... but not so for girls.... sad.gif

i used to run between 5-8k daily until i was forced to stop due to a knee injury .. so i've dropped my morning runs and the weight has come back on.. haihh ...i keep up with my weight training 2-3 times a week .. full body WO with dumbells and free weights (no machines over here) but im wondering if im wasting my time with weights since ive had to drop most of my running .. right now looking to drop body fat .. replaced running with that eliptical machine but its no replacement for my sprints sad.gif

would skipping be any better ?

tried IF-ing which my friend used successfully but it doensnt agree with me .. so i guess im back to low carb

on another note .. does it ever offend you when you step into one of those public gyms and a guy hands you a 1 kg dumbell and tells you "girls shouldnt be lifting?"

i also did long distance running before, and i stopped after my ankle injuries becoming serious and start taking glucosamine on doc's advice. No matter how, i didn't see tat my body weight increase. ur case might be in term of nutritions. Did u control ur diet after stop running? Gain weight= calories intake > ur body required calories. EG: During ur running activity, u wont gain weight by eating MCD meals. But when u stop running=physical activity decrease, ur body weight sure go up if keep eating MCd meal. [JUST AN EXAMPLE smile.gif ]
If u wanna go on low carb diet, make sure u ate sufficient carb too to support ur body basal activities.
I trained martial art in old time. Most of my training similiar to plyometric training. i dont carry weights at all. But now, i can 100% sure that carry weights can really gain strength faster than ever! now i still doing squat with dumbells wat icon_idea.gif
These are my progress after 3 months in gym. i will remove after 2 days....feel so shy...

Now i taking whey after workout and the following morning for nearly 1month. The protein blend is for my whole family smile.gif

hey, dude. Decline chest press is one of the effective chest workout for dudes. For girls, better dont. Due to different hormonal lvl. girls having very hard time to gain muscle like man. those in us and female BB, i cant 100% guarantee they do it naturally nod.gif

yancomet ... did the glucosamine help? right now im only taking fish oils, might consider adding glucosamine if it will help my ankles/knees .. i used to swim alot, so not used to higher impact cardio .. knee pain before i am tired >.<

it only takes one week of not enough sleep to completely wreck my diet .. its so annoying that i can gain weight in a week and it takes a month to get back to normal

btw .. you take the whey both bfast and post workout ? i was thinking of replacing dinner with whey cos i workout evening-ish and by the time i get back its already 8-9PM di .. nice arms btw

i can squat about 20kgs, probably more but any heavier and i cant lift the bar up to put on my back sleep.gif"

fyi, i do cardio like 3-4 times playing football, and i mean i play for the whole 1 hour..my food intake is well, 75% clean, still, i have pointy chest and some flab at my lower waist..

guess, not every exercise gives the same sort or result.. my two cents.

*
IF?? Intermittent fasting?? if thats what it is... my god i can never fast... im hungry 24-7 and NEED to eat every 1-2 hours. i think fasting slows ur metabolism too and increases the tendency to store fat... a definite no-no.

i used to get alot of funny stares and stuff going into a gym. ive always trained at a hardcore gym even frm the beginning so it was strange being the only gal. i got alot of negativity frm my family members actually whn i first started out, more so than ppl in the gym. i also mostly hang out with bodybuilders anyways... my friends all compete so i feel perfectly at home with the guys. guess right now the most annoying thing im faced with is that kaypoh aunties or even random unknown women who hv just met me the first time... like to comment abt how big my arms are n ask me "you not scared ugly ah?" or "you will regret u know after u get married"........ etc etc etc.... ZZZzzzzz.

on the other hand... when the salesppl at big commercial gyms try to chat me up and ask me what my "weight loss goals" are... the reactions i get when i say "can you help me put on 10kg ah?" never fail to amuse me. tongue.gif

which one? the big one is a blend around 190, small one is whey around 130. now should be slightly cheaper ady.

yancomet ... did the glucosamine help? right now im only taking fish oils, might consider adding glucosamine if it will help my ankles/knees .. i used to swim alot, so not used to higher impact cardio .. knee pain before i am tired >.<

it only takes one week of not enough sleep to completely wreck my diet .. its so annoying that i can gain weight in a week and it takes a month to get back to normal

btw .. you take the whey both bfast and post workout ? i was thinking of replacing dinner with whey cos i workout evening-ish and by the time i get back its already 8-9PM di .. nice arms btw

i can squat about 20kgs, probably more but any heavier and i cant lift the bar up to put on my back sleep.gif"

hmm, u only can see the effect of glucossamine after u taking in certain period. it wont relieve ur pain in short period unless u take gluco+msm eg: gnc. But i taking glucosamine+chondroitin, juz more than enough. remember, rest is crucial factor and sufficient training too to avoid injuries from getting serious.
i taking whey protein after workout, and the following morning take another scoop of whey to recover and reduce soreness. Never to take whey as replacement of breakfast! if u intend to replace dinner after workout, u can try protein blend which got casein. Dont forget to take some complex carbs like oats, it helps recovery too and give u a sense of fullness, tats mean wont feel hungry.

PS: i find gals bodybuilding attractive... but to certain extend i guess.
not those that take steroids or goes for competition. but just getting some muscles and tone themself instead just sitting around wanna reduce fat but dont want muscle.

i also did long distance running before, and i stopped after my ankle injuries becoming serious and start taking glucosamine on doc's advice.
These are my progress after 3 months in gym. i will remove after 2 days....feel so shy...

yeah .. intermittent fasting .. might have worked for her but was completely horrible for me...i usually take a short run in the morning, either on empty stomach or just some milk and then have a light bfast after ... and the more i run the hungrier i get so i usually nibble during the day... IF-ing meant skipping bfast and eating between 12PM to 6PM ... IMPOSSIBLE...i might be able to to a light run on a mostly empty stomach but its not possible to lift without eating .. and i spend most of the morning tired, lethargic and lightheaded ... not productive at all .. plus i ended up with all sorts of wild cravings

the most effective way for me to drop body fat was to add on sprints after my workout ... used to do it when i was gym-ming regularly, but its kinda hard to sprint when you're running tepi jalan .. too many obstacles, dang

im now in a small town .. kind of ulu and no proper gym so have to make do la .. but its kinda annoying when im loading up my bar to have guys come up to me and tell me "its too heavy, better you dont do" or " come i teach you" - then give me 1kg DB and show me how to do bicep curls .. ive had people tell me running makes your legs bigger, not feminine la bla bla ..

i used to swim competitively so i got broad shoulders .. im trying to get that triangle bit between the shoulders and chest (dont know what muscle it is), what kind of exercises should i be looking at to build it ?

penang bridge marathon? laugh.gif u can start supplement wif gluco since knee pain. my running gang fellas also sufferring the similiar symptom like u do. mine is ankle prob, knee havent pain:P, perhaps somedays. make sure u wear the suitable running shoes, such as pronation type/overpronation/high arch...
I took CHONDROPIL (glucosamine+ chondroitin) RM60+ for 60 tablets. take 1 tablet, twice per day, preferable after meal. u can get it from any nearer pharmacy or CARING pharmacy. Now, i change to other brand(get it from oversea, take alternatively days, esp on hard training days blush.gif )

Since u swimming, lat pull down shouldn't be a problem. i swim breaststroke alot. My max weights for lat pull down 50lbs for 12reps. Normally, i not pushing to limit since my back and wrist injured in old time. 30/40lbs works fine for me, but aim for more reps nod.gif

Oh my, girls taking whey? Oh my! Even I don't take any. Oh my! Anyway, fake sexist remarks aside, I've seen a woman do barbell benches with good form, better than me in fact. Unfortunately, her boobies were about as full as a piece of paper. So, yeah, ladies, be careful of what you do.

And that video is absolutely fake. No way in heck can she do that and not break a sweat. Fake, I tells you!

yeah .. im a big believer in bfast ... if i eat junk for breakfast i get the most ridiculous junk cravings for the rest of the day haih
i do a mix of moderate intensity cardio and HIIT ... or just HIIT if im short on time and long distance running on a separate day, usually sunday

The thing about long distance cardio is that it gives you so much time to think the most ridiculous things if you're not completely zoned out .. the first long distance run i did half way through i was holding conversations in my head that went something like "why are you torturing yourself? stop stop you suck at this anyway!" etc etc o.O

The thing about long distance cardio is that it gives you so much time to think the most ridiculous things if you're not completely zoned out .. the first long distance run i did half way through i was holding conversations in my head that went something like "why are you torturing yourself? stop stop you suck at this anyway!" etc etc o.O

rofl. i can totally relate to this! oh this also happens to me during my weight lift sessions too. shakehead.gif

holy shizz that looks insane!!
but likely that i wont be attempting that anytime in near future.... i come from a gym where im the only female in a testosterone-jacked environment. any "hip thrusting" is going to get me even more stares and snickering comments than i already do...
for now will stick to my SLDLs, sumo squats and lunges, thanks smile.gif (and reverse hamstring curls when nobody's looking!)

QUOTE(LadyVanity @ Aug 3 2010, 12:40 AM)

Added on August 3, 2010, 12:54 am

imo men and women hv different bodies, different composition, tendencies to put on fat in different areas and different hormone levels.... hence training needs to be different too here and there cos the bodies respond differently.

i dono bout guys... but the NUMBER ONE boob shrinker = decline benchpress.
evil evil evil!! will never do another decline bench all my life!

not fair right... decline benching gives guys nice, sag-free and well shaped pecs... but not so for girls.... sad.gif

such long time i didnt do decline bench press. no wonder my chest not in a good shape. i will do it this week biggrin.gif

OK I cant believe I'm posting this since it's not really BB related but women-related; but here it goes :

After birth, the gynae prescribed me lots of Kagel exercises - basically squeeze down there like ur holding ur pee/shit for a couple of seconds and repeat as necessary to strengthen pelvic floor. But I remember doing that whilst squatting / deadlifting / stand-pressing anyway to maintain core stability.

Isit the same or am I missing something here?

you go Kegels during squats/DLs/presses???? huh? wow thats a first ive heard. i dont do that.... i just suck in my abs as far as "core stability" goes.... i dont think Kegels would do much for core stability to be honest smile.gif

what i do know is that Kegels help with incontinence and improving vaginal tone... especially after pregnancy since the muscles down there have gotten stretched and "loose".... besides u dont hv to contract ur abs to do Kegels. as a matter of fact ive read that its "wrong" cos it takes the focus off the pelvic floor... sometimes miss working them all together cos ur so focused on "contracting the abs".

then again i could be mistaken tongue.gif just my two cents worth

I did it cause it helped me not to pee in my pants if I go too heavy sweat.gif Prolly cause last time my workouts were mostly low reps (3-5reps), heavy weight since I was training mainly for strength and explosiveness. Altho I do think one of the reason I did it was ignorance - nobody actually talks about this out loud since we dont hv many female lifters around here. I just did what felt 'right'.

I havent been lifting for months now - currently 4kg off my pre-preggers weight. Should be able to shed off the extra jiggly bits in no time biggrin.gif Cant wait!

I have a link somewhere about Kegel and post partum incontinence when jumping/squatting heavy. Let me go search...

There's a link to an interview with Katy Bowman.

TL;DR version: Exercises that strengthen the ass is the best for postpartum incontinence.

QUOTE
Nulliparous women (that's women who've never had a baby) and men are equally affected with PFD (pelvic floor disorder) so while child birth may accelerate PF weakening, it is not a primary cause of PFD. PFD is first caused by slack in the pelvic floor due to the fact that the sacrum is moving anterior, into the bowl of the pelvis. Because the PF muscles attach from the coccyx to the pubic bone, the closer these bony attachments get, the more slack in the PF (the PF becomes a hammock).

Weak glutes + too many Kegels = PFD (Pelvic floor disorder).

All I can say is, fitness had little effect on me during delivery time (labour was long and painful) but recovery was superfast afterwards. 1 week and I can fit into my pre-mommy jeans yo biggrin.gif

sorry if i'm in d wrong thread but since females do not bulk up with muscle easily, are there any other reasons a woman's frame seems to get bigger when she starts lifting e.g. bone structure, etc?

example:
a female friend of mine started lifting weights and after a couple of weeks her shoulders got wider.

XD well ok this is my routine for the past 3 weeks (kinda started really... ffff XDXD ........ and huzzah for free uni gym with complete machines woohoo)

(........... BUT THEN I SAW RESULTS ON MY BICEPS OMG =D =D)

the first week before I started gym routine my weight is about 64-65kg.
Then my routine goes like this (done 5 days a week since my uni gym closes on saturday and sunday cus ppl curi dumbells, curse those mat pits D<)
Cardio (done in a stadium nearby)
Sprint 100m 3x (yeah.. im a sprinter in my old days.... explains my big old thighs. =D)

(thennnn walk down to gym about 10 minutes away)
Dumbell Rows

3.5 kg x 12
5 kg x 12
7 kg x 12
10 kg x 8

Raises

5 kg x 12 (2.5 a bell)
5 kg x 8
7 kg x 12 (3.5 a bell)
7 kg x 8

Pull down

10 kg x 12
14 kg x 12
18 kg x 10
22 kg x 8

Seated Rows

10 kg x 12
14 kg x 12
18 kg x 10
22 kg x 8

For lower body, I did squats with dumbell over shoulder (IDK WHATS THAT CALLED orz)

so its 4 reps

5 kg x 12 (2.5 a bell)
7 kg x 12 (3.5 a bell)
9 kg x 12 (4.5 a bell)
11 kg x 8 (5.5 a bell)
Mostly spend 1-2 hours in gym cus I have nothing better to do after class hahaha then go home do homework, masak clean house like every other woman does lolol.

So I guess that is what I do the most. And yeah, I got high metabolism and big appetite.

Here is how look after 2 weeks, i can see my biceps got into shape. (last time was. FLABBBBBBBBBBEEEEHHHH)

so here is my progress pics.
