Usually I only play WoW or Sims3 on this pc, my temperature usually sits around 60°C ish .. max 70°C on really rare ocasion...

But last night when I was playing SC2, I notice my gfx fan is making really loud noise, especially during cutscene.
So I alt-tab out, wondering whats the temp like. It was sitting around 89°C!

But it immediately drop 1°C every second when I alt tab out of the game til around 60°C, I go back to the game and within 20seconds or so my gfx fan start making noises again.

I'm not really sure if this are the normal temperature for graphic cards but so sakit hati seeing it suffering at almost 90°C >.< like 10°C away from boiling...

Will it end up become a piece of goreng gfx very soon if I continue playing with that temperature?

It usually stays around 45°C only when surfing sites/idle.

Should I change my GFX fan? My last round of cleaning the fan is around 2 weeks ago. Currently using GTX275 card, and this only happens on SC2.

I suspect SC2 is too sexy hawt for my pc that it the fan got "turned on" doh.gif

I tink its ur gfx driver. remember there was this buggy driver that cause nvidia cards to burn.. try updating ?

Im using an overclocked 275 .. no such issue.

finished a 5 hours marathon of sc 2 2 days ago. without any overheating issues.

Mine was 34°C ... and then shoot up to 40°C when playing the final cinematic.

My current version is 197.45 (around april one I think) I didnt update to the latest one. I did last time, but when I play wow, and I move my mouse, the screen starts to lag, skipping and fps drop like mad to 1 digit. If I dont move my mouse its like normal. So I had to remove it and install back this old one.

I think the one that was causing it to burn was v195

I was thinking of going all the way back and install the 186 version... lol

Check your FPS. SC2 may sometimes go up to few hundred FPS and torture your GPU

I think there's an official post from blizzard in US forum regarding this.
I recall the solution was update driver and also set the configuration stated in the FAQ page of "Know Issue - Technical Support" or maybe should try Vsync and limit your FPS to 75.

Sorry just saw your card.

GTX275.

If you worry about heat, just replace the cooler.

Try replacing the cooler with Artic Cooling Tri-fan, Thermalright Spitfire, Xigmatek BattleAxe and etc.

Those coolers will disburse the heat from your GPU better than your stock cooling.

Cant open the link, but I googled and managed to find so many sites with same keywords.
I'll try to cap my fps and see if it still cooks my gfx

You may replace these numbers if you want to.

Hi guys, just an update

I've cap my framerate at 80, highest temp reached is only 75c, average around 70c
Gameplay speed n everything didnt get affected at all.
xD

Gonna try to cap at 70 or maybe 60 to see if the temp goes lower^^
