Hi guys, just an update

I've cap my framerate at 80, highest temp reached is only 75c, average around 70c
Gameplay speed n everything didnt get affected at all.
xD

Gonna try to cap at 70 or maybe 60 to see if the temp goes lower^^

Probably a better idea to just increase the fan speed or just replace the cooler entirely.

the problem is.. starcraft 2 has a bug that causes GPU overuse even there are nothing graphically intensive to process.
pushing the hardware to its limit even there is nothing to do isn't a good idea.

Its a bug that when you're in any type of menus (be it pre-brefieng, post-brief, menue after cutscenes, etc.), your GPU will automatically render everything animates on screen without a limit.
Where as the stuff going on screen are just very minimal, over a period of a few minutes your GPU will overheat.

The solution to this is simple, just go to:
My Documents > Starcraft II > Variables.txt

Under the command line: foliagequality=x (this depends on your Terrain setting)

Add -
frameratecap=60
frameratecapGlue=30

You can set the framerate cap to 70 or 80, up to you.
But really they are menus... why in god's name would you even want anything more than 60 (heck, 30 for that matter).

Of course, increasing your fan speed will also bring temperaturs down as well as playing in an air-cond room.

My single-slot first-release 8800GT (which is known to be freakishly hot) OC'd to 700/1000 only reached 80c in a non-aircond room, afternoon time.

GPU "should" have limiter anyway so if the temp goes too high the computer will just switch off.

But on my previous Dell laptop (Dell default temp monitoring = pure crap) I ended up damaging my GPU because of too high temperature.
I was getting random BSOD as soon as the temp was getting a bit too high at the end, luckily I had still warranty.

Alien Swarm had this bug too, it will not cap fps by default so the GPU ends up drawing stuff at 300fps or whatever which is totally pointless and put a strain on the hardware for nothing.

Activating V-sync can fix it too since your fps will not go higher than your monitor frequency with it.

It's ok to tax the hardware 100% as long as it is cooled properly.

Possible to fry your GPU. However, just open the side panel to let some air in for your GPU.

Might invite dust as well.

Mine never goes beyond 60c ever.

Most of the time it hovers around 40-55c even at full load.

Also cleaning your PC case will help lower the temperature to some extent.

Dust bunnies trap heats.

My recommendation either AMD5770 or GTX260.

Don't need to upgrade for awhile.
