Thanks for all the help. I've successfully configured my RTN-66U to use Maxis Fiber and Astro IPTV. My place is running on TM fiber, so the settings below worked for me.

Internet : 621
LAN3 : 822
LAN4 (IPTV) : 823

I saw here: http://www.clnet-solution.com/replacing-maxis-fiber-router/ that LAN3 is configured for VOIP.

Newbie question here: For Maxis Voip, still need to keep the Thomson router? If yes, how is the thomson router connected? Directly to LAN3 of N66 or to the modem?

Hi kytan,

You can have a look no the following link for Maxis Fiber with custom router.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2384890

If you are using to the RT-N66U to do the dialing, just plug in the maxis router WAN port cable to LAN port 3 of RT-N66U.

Thank you

Thanks and I shall try

Hi ASUSmy,

Based on the link above, port binding and VLAN tagging is unchecked for LAN2. If I setup the maxis router for VOIP and connect to my N66U, I will need to tag LAN3 in N66U to 821/822 right? And subsequently LAN4 for IPTV - 823/824?

Tried that, unfortunately unable to even connect to internet if I follow the setup.
If I use the built in IPTV profile (Maxis-Fiber, Maxis-Fiber-Special), am able to connect to internet but no IPTV.
Any other advise for anyone who has been successful?
Such a waste not being able to fully utilize the Dark Knight.

Should I try flashing DD-WRT?

Contacted another forumer and this are the steps:

1. Set up VLAN ID in N66U
Internet: 621
VOIP (LAN Port 3): 821 / 822 (try which works for you)
IPTV (LAN Port 4): 823 / 824 (try which works for you)

2. Connect WAN port of N66U to LAN port 2 of Huawei modem
3. Connect phone to LAN port 3 of N66U
4. Connect Astro STB to LAN port 4 of N66U
5. Done!

His advice was to ensure the internet connection is up before changing any channels on Astro.

You can also try asusmy's firmware in post #1586 above.

Asusmy,

Did the following to setup my N66U

1. Set up VLAN ID
Internet: 621 - Works fine

VOIP (LAN Port 3): 821 / 822 - not working. No dialtone. Picked up the phone only hear 'tut-tut-tut' tone

IPTV (LAN Port 4): 823 - works however i had to switch to an unused lan port then switch back to lan port 4 before the i can select channels in astro

2. Connect WAN port of N66U to LAN port 2 of Huawei modem
3. Connect thomson router (phone) to LAN port 3 of N66U
4. Connect Astro STB to LAN port 4 of N66U

Hi kytan,

For the VOIP, is the LAN cable from RT-N66U LAN port 3 to the WAN of Maxis router?

Have you try restart all the device to let it detect again?

Thank you
*
Hi asusmy

yes to lan port 3. and yes I restarted it. how long do I need to wait before any dial tone?

any solutions to the IPTV issue of having to switch lan port before it can work?

ASUSmy, any feedback on my question?

I connected phone to LAN3, turned everything on and left it idle. Still when i picked up phone, only get a 'tut-tut-tut...' sound instead of dialtone.

IPTV still unstable. Have to switch to a empty port then switch back to LAN 4 only can view channels.

Using RT-N66U.

factory reset solved most of the issues, IPTV working fine now, so has the internet connection. Must discard all of the old settings and start anew.

For IPTV, you still have to do the port switching technique to get the channels to show up. So still not recommended for consumers hoping for a plug and play solution.

Not sure about VoIP as i'm not using their solution for my telephony service

Have reduced my N66U to AP mode. Not impressed at all with Asus support for Maxis VOIP and Astro IPTV! Port switching, although works, its a silly way for it to work!

Dear AsusMY, appreciate you guys can get to the bottom of this ASAP!
